We'll have to see what comes out at the end and judge from there. It will be possible to assign blame if necessary if you follow it step by step. JMO, the end result is unknown for now and once it's enacted, don't automatically believe what you read in the news media.
Exactly what my orig post said, Thank You. Something to look forward to that looks hopeful. Hope is really important in this situation. So sad seeing members attacking others.

I completely get your post.
It does feel as if the world has turned upside down in a matter of weeks.
Because, it Damn well has.
The human genetics of fight or flight has kicked in for our entire world.
More and more people are on edge and in survival mode.
I love the stories of people helping others and animals.
I'm afraid that this is going to get worse. There seems to be no data at all, that this will get better for us in a week or two.
Sigh.
I know that good people will do good things.
But, as a longtime member of websleuths, I also know that bad people will do bad things.
Be smart. Be aware. Do NOT tell Anyone about your storage, except those you completely trust.
I really cannot be more clear about this. Just shut up.

Everybody is scrambling to
there are people begging. You don’t get paid when laid off, and in many places in right to work states, they’ll fire you to not pay unemployment. No one I know has a month of paid sick leave. You can’t work from home for many jobs. I work from home every day. I earned that. We deal with credit cards and personal info. My company simply does not have anywhere near enough virtual based equipment to send our 8400 office workers home to work either . My system is dramatically different than the buildings too: there is training involved.

This is very useful thank you for posting this. I had to have it out with my Mum and Dad today. My Dad is 73 and diabetic and my Mum is 56 with high blood pressure and having surgery next Saturday. I tried my best to get them both to take this seriously. Thankfully I managed to get through to them. They both have a we don’t care about ourselves as long as you’re ok attitude. I just told them if you care about me then you will look after yourselves and they promised they would.

I hope you’re all coping as well as you can under the circumstances. This is a very scary situation and we have a difficult time ahead. Hopefully humanity will come together and we will get through this.

I’ve been wondering how far exactly things could go and why more isn’t being said about that. In actuality I’m trying to determine how to navigate a college kid across the country, parents in older age group currently with a loved one in the hospital and DH also high risk. This article takes a stab at the “next steps”.

Efforts to control the coronavirus in the U.S. could get even more extreme — The New York Times

Washington State — where 37 people have died, more than anywhere else in the United States — has escalated through most of a 13-step strategy checklist for controlling infectious outbreaks and now has only a few remaining options: closing workplaces, restricting people to their homes and cordoning off targeted areas to help control the spread of infection.

The possibility of more draconian measures if the outbreak continues to escalate has become a rising subject of conversation among public health officials across the country, forcing them to confront difficult questions about how much pain to endure — in their local economies and in civil liberties — to save more lives.

“We’re in uncharted territory,” Mayor Jenny Durkan of Seattle said. “The decisions we made this week are some of the most significant governmental interventions in the history of our country.”

''A countrywide lockdown in Italy because of the coronavirus didn't stop defiant Italians from enjoying their Friday. People up and down the country opened their windows and came together to sing the national anthem for a 'flash mob' to raise morale in an increasingly difficult time. The national anthem 'Fratelli d'Italia' was blared out of speakers from Turin to Naples and families sang along cheering from their balconies, clanging together saucepans, for a moment of respite from a tough week under coronavirus lockdown. "Andrà tutto bene", meaning "everything will be alright", has become a symbolic phrase of hope in the coronavirus crisis that has left the entire country under quarantine as the biggest outbreak outside in Europe gets worse and worse every day. The phrase has appeared on placards and banners across the country.''

we will get through this.

We will get thru this, but our lives are probably forever changed. Once things settle, perhaps people will realize what’s really important in this crazy thing called life.

Ardern reveals 'unprecedented' travel restrictions, all visitors to New Zealand to self-isolate
''New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has announced new restrictions requiring all travellers to be quarantined for 14 days upon entry into the country in an attempt to stop the spread of coronavirus.

The restrictions apply to all countries except for Pacific nations, and will come into effect at midnight on Sunday (10.00pm AEDT). It also includes any New Zealand citizens or residents returning to the country.

Ms Ardern said these were "far-reaching and unprecedented" measures to tackle a global pandemic.

"Alongside Israel and a small number of Pacific islands who have effectively closed their borders, this decision will mean New Zealand will have the widest ranging and toughest border restrictions of any country in the world," Ms Ardern said''

Such a dilemma. It might come to a shutdown, in certain areas. Maybe if your house number is odd, you can shop on Mon & Fri, even numbers on Tue & Thur.

We ordered thousands of dollars of food for our restaurant yesterday. Normal type of order.
I did call my chef and ask her to really watch her ordering.
Last night "thursday" sales were $320.00.
We sell a lot of seafood at our restaurant. Tomorrow, I'm going in to inventory and place 85% of that beautiful fresh fish into a freezer.
Our monthly lease for our restaurant is $5,200.00. I've not sent them a dime yet for this month.
I'm not even sure WHAT I'm going to send them. I have to keep my employees paid, the lights on and my food vendors paid. No food, no electricity, no employees= bankruptcy.
We've been at this location for 17 years. I told my husband this morning. "What are they going to do? Throw us out? Then what? Find another experienced restaurant to take over? Give the new tenant, if they can find one, 4 months of free rent and $20,000.00 or more in build out costs"?
All of this just sucks.
We've been planning on selling our restaurant this summer. Hubby is 73 and had major open heart surgery 1 year ago this month.
He's working double shifts 6 days a week.
His doctor told him to slow down, that he's "fresh off the table."
Neither hubby or myself have ever seen anything like this in our lives.

BTW. I was in banking for many years. The only way you can get a Small Business Loan from the Small Business Administration (SBA) is if you don't NEED one.
It's always been a big joke in the banking industry.

We're pretty screwed.
I’m so sorry. We too have a business I am quite worried about right now.

I do hope you can find some creative ways to make it work right now. I just read this article and thought it might help. Maybe if you currently advertise, changing some ads around to appeal to concerns by showing extra safety measures might be helpful.
Is It Safe to Dine Out at Restaurants During the Coronavirus Pandemic? — FOOD & WINE

ETA: article has some tips for diners to consider, but more importantly would be helpful for restaurants to do as well.

Uh oh. We have a friend who grew up in NZ but has lived in the US for years. She is planning a trip home in April. I will let her know. She will be devastated.

Coronavirus relief bill passes House around 1:00 a.m.

The bill passed with broad, bipartisan support and a final tally of 363-40 with 40 Republicans voting against it and Independent Justin Amash of Michigan voting "present."
Late in the day on Friday, President Trump Donald tweeted his support for the measure that includes provisions for paid emergency leave and free testing for COVID-19, after Pelosi announced that Democrats had struck a deal with the administration.
...............
Pelosi said in her letter that the legislation is made up of a number of provisions, including "free coronavirus testing for everyone who needs a test, including the uninsured."
The legislation will also provide, according to Pelosi, "paid emergency leave with two weeks of paid sick leave and up to three months of paid family and medical leave."
It will also expand federal funding for Medicaid "to support our local, state, tribal and territorial governments and health systems, so that they have the resources necessary to combat this crisis."

My husband. Who is a very smart man. Tells me that there is more to this story.
He tells me that there is no way, our entire world would go on lockdown with the information we've been given.
I cannot argue with him. Nearly everything makes no sense.
Why does China still have 50 million on lockdown nearly 3 months later?
I'm very worried that our leaders know worse news then they are willing to share with the general public.
Just the news so far has caused panic.
I truly hope that I am not overreacting.
