Italy reports 3,590 new cases of #COVID19 and 368 deaths, raising total to 24,747 cases and 1,809 dead. The scope of death and disease in Italy, a nation of 60 million, will dwarf the despair in China. Urgent action needed to save lives and learn what went so wrong in that nation.

STAY HOME, SAVE LIVES

Are you freaking kidding me?

“3,590 new cases”?

Omg.

Henry do you a graph for Italy cases since it broke there? Tia.

I would offer you one of my paper bags to breathe into but I’ve been using a lot of them up recently and need to go restock.

Dude.

I’m thinking I need to get a YouTube and Twitter channel just so I can GO OFF.

I can wear my giraffe mask I reserve for Chris Watts appearances when I throw stones.

Absolutely, @Richmond! As WS owner Tricia has said/yelled, those who minimize this crisis have no place on this thread. They can read her post on the first page.

I will say this and say it loud...Anyone who doesn’t trust Dr Fauci is a fool! The man has decades, decades of experience with infections diseases at NIH, working with 6, count ‘em, SIX presidents through AIDS, Flu, Ebola and now coronavirus. Who do you think you are to opine that he is not to be trusted?! Why do you think your opinion is more educated than his?! Good grief! Just because you don’t like his advice, you don’t want to trust him? I despair. You’re the reason I’m following his advice and staying home!!

JMO
He is not, God,just saying, I don’t give anyone absolute trust, except my God.

Heck I’m confused! Do you think the numbers support shutdowns or do you think something else is happening?

Both....

The numbers, where they stand now, are concerning enough to justify very SIGNIFICANT changes! However, I think many people don’t realize just how concerning those numbers are. So my point to those folks is - don’t weigh the potential danger by comparing current numbers to flu statistics, etc

On the other hand, I have a hard time understanding a GLOBAL shutdown based on these numbers alone. Just my opinion based on observation of history. Reaction is a balancing act - so yes, to me, the reaction isn’t currently balanced.
MOO, it’s bad enough with the numbers we have - but I’m not convinced that the numbers aren’t much worse than what we see.

And just to clarify, I’m not promoting any type of conspiracy theory, but I’m not closing my eyes to the fact that world leaders have a responsibility to maintain social order. The fact that the US government withholds information, or delays information is NOT a conspiracy theory. It’s openly acknowledged every time they quote the need for national security. And I’ll add that I believe it to be the responsible thing to do.

Sorry for the confusion - the purpose of my post was really to say - this is a very dire situation - observation of world actions should speak very loudly to those in doubt. My second point was that it may be even worse than we know.

Our house is an old Victorian and there's a room downstairs that has what appears to be an original bathroom attached. We're pretty sure it was once used as a sick room.

Ironically a child of the original owners died in the house from influenza. I guess some things never change.
The 1918 Influenza Pandemic.
Jan1918-Dec1920.
This Covid-19 is sweeping the planet during the 100yr anniversary of that last pandemic... which took the lives of 50 Million people worldwide. Scary sh** eh! X

This is how it goes. This is what people aren’t understanding. It’s like a cockroach. You see one in the kitchen that means you’re infested.

The county I live in had cases triple overnight.

I’m not sure if you got to see this, Richmond, but I personally found it beautiful. Bumping again for everyone. Grab the Kleenex:
