Very early Tuesday morning my cousin Jim passed away of the Coronavirus. He was in good health & had no underlying medical issues/diseases.

Additionally, the state that I live in, West Virginia announced Tuesday evening that they have their first positive case.

I am so very sorry!

At our restaurant, we're down to 2 people working on the front lines. My beloved husband and our amazing chef of 12 years.
We are feeling the LOVE!
Our customers are backing us big time.
They are ordering "To Go dishes".
As in $200. Orders at a time.
I've had so many emails and phone calls telling us how much they support us and do not, want to see us go out of business.
It's very heartening.
We are a Mom and Pop business, with employees that have been with us for well over a decade.
We are located in San Diego- in the country.
Agricultural area with a lot of retirees and farm workers.

I just knew they’d support you @KALI! You’re a local institution, just like our favorite local restaurant with employees who have also worked there for over a decade. We will be ordering takeout from them this week.

Isn’t it crazy that we are here? I feel this huge sense of unreality sometimes. Do you guys feel that? Like this is a crazy nightmare we are going to wake up from?

Exactly! This is, by far, the absolute strangest uncharted territory I have been in. I was born during a war, practiced sheltering for nuclear attack in school, my friends went to war later, I've seen recession, etc. but this is nothing I imagined would ever happen.

Thank you for posting this very useful information it could really help people like my Dad and I.

I feel absolutely terrible about my 73 year old diabetic Dad going out to get food from the supermarket. He insisted a few weeks ago that he would now go and get the shopping alone. Because he would rather risk getting the virus himself than put me in danger.

The love you have for your family is as beautiful as their love for you. You're all blessed by that love.

It's true, as older people, we are proud of what we can still do for ourselves. Proud, but with this virus we can't afford to be stupid.

"There is a pride issue - I don't need anything. They don't want to be needy. They don't want to be a burden,” she said.

That changed when Covid19 began to spread...

As this woman in the video says, letting someone help us is allowing them to "Bring their hearts to a higher level."

Philadelphia police to delay arrests for certain non-violent crimes
Nice, now what?
Misdemeanors are no longer arrested will have court dates later?
Moo
Eek. They will be scanned and arrested later? Be careful, Philadelphians.

These low-level crimes and misdemeanors include:

- Theft from persons

- Retail theft

- Theft from auto

- Burglary

- Vandalism

- All bench warrants

- Stolen auto

With courts closed by pandemic, Philly police stop low-level arrests to manage jail crowding

This makes my heart ache. Saying prayers for your friends, for you, and for all of us.

O/T a bit.

My Nana is on hospice. She’s about 3 months past the 6 month expiration date her doctor guesstimated. Her transition is developing quickly. Today I am so sad for her. She’s in her early 90’s and has ovarian cancer. She chose to forgo treatment and live the rest of her best life. She’s no longer accepting visitors and we had her over one night a week for dinner. It crushes me that this will be the ending to her story. Isolated and lonely.

I’m so sorry about your Nana, @kodi. Sending hugs. :(

Sorry if this is a duplicate. This is the story of healthcare in New York right now. Downright scary. I can’t imagine working like this. We all owe dr’s and nurses our gratitude right now.

"This Is Really Happening": NYC Healthcare Workers Describe Supply And Staff Shortages As COVID-19 Cases Rise
How can this happen?
Bottom line is how.
Budgets and not even a fleeting thought about any mass casualty situation or city wide outbreak.
Someone got a healthy bonus more than once for keeping costs down.
That same person could die now or lose several coworkers.
There was never a shortage during simulated mass episodes where I worked. We wasted so much stuff for training.
Was it really necessary or could we have just explained as we went along and saved vital supplies?
Some at least.

I work at an animal shelter and we took in 200+ cats and dogs in a WEEK. I’m sure this is happening in every city, at every shelter. We were already at capacity. If you can’t foster or adopt at this time (SHELTER VOLUNTEER GROUPS PROVIDE ALL PET FOOD AND PAY ANY VETERINARIAN BILLS YOU MAY INCUR IF YOU FOSTER A DOG OR CAT), maybe help provide pet food to people you know who now can’t pay their bills and are among the many surrendering their pets to be euthanized. I am fostered to the gills right now at my condo. Few are coming in to adopt. It is tragic. Please know if you surrender your pet at this time they will more than likely be euthanized.

I am not in a high risk group. I am not concerned about myself, but I am concerned about others. I don’t have a problem going to the store at the break of dawn to get toilet paper every week. I’m not going to stockpile, and I think others who aren’t at high risk should either. It’s just not sustainable, and those at high risk shouldn’t go to the store as often right now. We all need to be careful. I’m not going to visit my parents or socialize. I go to work and come home. I have to go to work to take care of animals. I wash and disinfect my hands often.
We signed up to be a foster dog home today with the local humane society. I cannot afford to take on the expense, nor will my health allow me to handle the responsibility of a permanent pet. The foster program allows me to help in the only way I can. The food and vet will be covered. My 22 year old lives with me, just finished her Bachelors with a goal of being a Vet. She currently works in a pet store as the food dept manager. We figured this would be the best way, as a low income household, to help someone. I have a big 6' high fenced in back yard they can play in so I can self isolate but still help.

U.K

Families may have to say goodbye to their dying loved ones over Skype as NHS bosses continue to look for ways to prevent the coronavirus spread.

Doctors have been told to restrict visitors in intensive care wards as best they can in new official guidance, which includes using "mobile devices and video calling" instead of seeing dying loved ones in person.

If the outbreak reaches the levels that are being predicted, clinicians will also have to stop "non-essential staff and any families or friends"entering clinical care areas.

Oh I can’t imagine. This is just traumatizing for so many.

Thank you thank you thank you!

It is the PERFECT way to help without ANY out of pocket expenses for yourself. It is also a great way to have the temporary companionship of a pet. We have so many amazing dogs and cats! Thanks again.

Good luck to your daughter in her career as a veterinarian, you must be very proud!

It is absolutely surreal. This is going to affect every aspect of our lives for quite some time. It will get worse before it gets better. It's like a science fiction novel.

I'm allergic to cats and I'm a cancer patient. I only have treatment 1 day a week. I thought maybe a calm senior dog, not too big, would love to snuggle up next to me on my chair rather than exist in a kennel. My daughter volunteers at a vet clinic and even tho she hasn't gone thru the Vet Tech program, they are teaching her all kinds of routine care. So we think we'll be good foster furbaby mommys. LOL!

Lots of people are still saying that. Lots of people think it is a huge hoax. Unreal.

I see their “hoax” comments on the FB pages of the local TV stations. Others call them out and try to educate them but you can’t fix stupid.

You are extraordinary to think of helping a shelter dog while going through cancer, the best of everything to you. Senior dogs are the hardest to place, so thank you for that. The dog in my avi is one of my foster failures, she’s 90 lbs and so gentle, calm and loving. Mine vary down to 10 lbs, lol.
The shelter will help place the perfect foster dog with you.

More good news that grocery stores are going to be helping senior citizens get their food shopping done at special times. This is good news for many including me. There's a Northgate Market very near where I live!

See video. You'll have to show your ID to prove you're older? "Wow, do I look that great for my age that you don't believe me." I don't think younger people can get in to help the older people?

It's 7 a.m. to 8 a.m.. Oh boy, I am not a morning person, but... Early birds will get the worm. :)

San Diego Northgate Gonzalez markets will open early for seniors, disabled

Vallarta supermarkets to implement special hours for seniors, disabled

"On Monday, the Northgate Gonzales Market chain began opening all of its 41 Southern California locations one hour early each day -- also at 7 a.m. - - for senior citizens and disabled customers. The Anaheim-based chain has 19 stores in Los Angeles County, 13 in Orange County, eight in San Diego County and one in Riverside County."

My avatar is the dog we had to turn back in a few years ago. We adopted her, trained her and 6 months later I was diagnosed. I was so sick and weak and my daughter was taking care of me. We couldn't keep her in the crate all day and I wasn't allowed to be near her after my bone marrow transplant. We still miss her. It's the only dog in my entire life I've relinquished and the guilt is still there. They found her a great home really quick also. I know she has to be much happier.
