Vaseline!
I have had terrible bouts of eczema, and then addiction to and withdrawal from the multiple topical steroids that were prescribed, and what healed my skin best was plain old Vaseline. I swear by it, and I am using it now that I am having the same hand issues as you from the constant washing.
Vaseline!

This is a very good read

A Physician Speaks Out, Healthcare Workers Unite

COVID Pandemic Exposes the Ugly Secrets Hidden in America’s Healthcare System:
Speechless. And this is what we pay so much for in insurance premiums, still hoping we don't get sick because we know that will be game over for us and we will have to file bankruptcy. We are right back into the Gilded Age (I teach history so excuse me). I saw on Fox today a segment on how to self triage and I thought really?? This is what I pay so much money for. Do we get instructions next to self treat a heart attack? Next will be the segment on how to dig your own grave in the back yard. Yeah, I bet they can come up with shovels for seniors quicker than masks for health care workers! Thanks for sharing.

Same here. I tend to have dry skin normally and Vaseline gives me relief as does olive oil.

Federal student loan payments are suspended for six months and unpaid debt collection is frozen as part of coronavirus bailout
  • Education Secretary Betsy DeVos announced her department will stop garnishing wages and seizing tax returns to repay student loans debt
  • Additionally legislation on Capitol Hill would stop federal student loan repayments for six months - through September 30th
  • DeVos also ordered her department to refund approximately $1.8 billion in offsets to more than 830,000 borrowers
  • All measures are being taken to offer economic relief from coronavirus

I have been washing my hands constantly, perhaps it’s the soap - but now I have very dry patches on my knuckles and cracks starting. I’m hoping my mom has some cotton gloves somewhere in the house.
Anyone got any suggestions?
Thin white cotton tight fitting gloves can be bought at Western Wear and some Feed Stores. Team Ropers use them.....moo

Yes, :) I like a 50% alcohol mix with some drops of Dawn and tiny bit of water for my counters and computer keyes, but I think the bleach mix kills this virus better. I wonder if there's studies about killing this virus. Oh, your hospital experience is interesting.

At least, we're trying to keep things clean.:)

They don't offer paper bags in most stores here... I use the thick plastic bags over and over...and I wash them in the bleach water mix and hang them out to reuse again. I respect your concerns for our environment. I feel like I'm drowning in plastic packaging.
I feel you on the plastic, but think about this - what options do they give us? We have no options but to buy things in plastic and then they make US feel guilty that we are not using alternatives?? I would do anything to be more green, but don't make ME feel guilty when I do not have alternatives.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Starting Thursday, March 26, Fayette County Public Schools will only offer meals at pick-up locations in the community. The full list is below.

Wednesday night, school officials learned an employee in the transportation department who was involved in the meal service tested positive for COVID-19.
Employee with meal services tests positive for COVID-19, FCPS offers pick-up meals only

In all honesty, does this surprise anyone?

If you wear gloves, you touch everything, so it's not going to do you good unless you change them constantly or disinfect them. You can't disinfect cotton gloves because you can't get them wet.

@MimosaMornings best stuff for cracked hands is "Bag Balm", they sell it at Walmart and on Amazon. Aquaphor is good too. Or even just apply Chapstick to those knuckles a couple of times a day.
Gold Bond has some intensive creams that are also good. My hands have aged a lot to from all the washing. Plus I am keeping nails short and rings off.

I went grocery shopping on Monday to 2 stores because my delivery was missing many items including paper products. There wasn’t any toilet paper at the stores but I did find paper towels. I never thought I’d have to resort to cutting the roll in half to fit the TP holder but the time for that will soon come. :(
I have been having Publix deliver groceries (Florida), and they are out of many items. The shopper will text and offer other options, and then they send you a picture of the isle. I was shocked at how empty they are, canned goods are gone. I started ordering just a few things every 3 or 4 days to re-stock.

I am so disgusted with the conditions that nurses and doctors are having to work in.
I hope Hospital Administrators are happy with themselves and got great bonuses!
Way to cut corners!
Pathetic!

What's in the $2 trillion stimulus package - CNNPolitics
[...]

CNN reporters are reading through the draft legislation. Here's a running list of highlights:

Direct payments to individuals
Under the plan as it was being negotiated, single Americans would receive $1,200, married couples would get $2,400 and parents would see $500 for each child under age 17.

[...]

Student loan payments suspended
The Department of Education would suspend payments on student loan borrowers without penalty through September 30, according to the bill.

[...]

REAL ID deadline delayed
The deadline to obtain a REAL ID, federally mandated identification that will be needed for passengers to board aircraft, will be extended until at least September 2021 -- a year past the current deadline, according to a draft version of the Senate stimulus bill obtained by CNN.

[...]

Historic boost for unemployment benefits
In an unprecedented expansion of unemployment insurance, the federal government would give jobless workers an extra $600 a week for four months on top of their state benefits, which range from $200 to $550 a week, on average, depending on the state.

In addition, lawmakers want to add up to 13 weeks of extended benefits, which would be fully covered by the federal government. Currently, state unemployment checks last up to between 12 weeks and 28 weeks, depending on the state.

[...]

$500 billion lending program
The Treasury Department can provide $500 billion in loans, loan guarantees and investments.

That specifically includes $25 billion for passenger air carriers, $4 billion for cargo air carriers and $17 billion for businesses that work in national security. The rest of the funds, $454 billion, are given wide latitude to provide loans to businesses, states and municipalities.

I hope not. Almost none of them actually earn it.

Good Lord, they've had issues with supplies for a year. WTH is going on there?

I suspect that it was an administration decision. There have been no backorders on these supplies until recently. Instead of ordering more than they needed to gradually build up their stores, the hospital administrators were ordering fewer supplies than needed, resulting in this disaster.

I actually put baby lotion all over my hands last night and put clean white cotton socks on them and went to bed like that. My husband laughed for awhile...lol

Thanks everyone for the helpful suggestions! I am at my parents so will have to see what I can find here or on Amazon.
Not going out!

We got an delivery today via UPS and when I opened the front door, the driver was walking down the driveway. He saw me and yelled “Don’t touch that! Spray it and leave it for two days”!
Okay!
