I’m trying to figure out how we’ll get money for my 18 year old high school senior who I claimed as a dependent on my taxes?! It seems kids 17+ that are still dependent may be getting nothing?!

I have a 22 year old that was in college last year that I claim as a dependent, even though she files her own tax returns. I am assuming she will get $600? I told her we would make up the difference to her out of our stimulus as she is now a masters graduate, semi unemployed as she lost one of her jobs because of the virus.

I also told her to file unemployment and I hope she gets the $600 a week stimulus since she is now living on her own this year.

I haven’t found any definitive answers.

My parents' beach in Siesta Key (Sarasota) isn't...
If the residence or condo, etc has “private” beach access, I don’t think they’re closed. There were barriers up at Siesta Key beach park. That’s where all the tourists go anyway. The rest of us know better. LOL!

On Fox I saw an interview with a doctor from NYC who has been on the frontline since the pandemic began there.

He said at first he was fearful for his patients, his family, and himself because he didnt know exactly how the virus spreads. He said as more is learned he's not as fearful now as long as everyone does what must be done.

He said if someone is in a confined space for 15 minutes or more they can get it if someone else has it by either standing close to them or shaking their hand or touching a surface the infected person touched.

He said the main way he thinks people are getting it is by touching surfaces which has the live virus, and then touching their own face whether mouth, eyes, or nose. He said humans dont realize how many times they touch their face every single day. That must stop even though a hard habit to break he said.

Of course he said sanitizing hands, face, and surfaces often is also key to keep it from spreading.

But our hand to our face is how he thinks it's spreading the most.

He even said it may be better to wear glasses instead of contacts now to prevent the airborne droplets from getting in our eyes. It also may stop people from rubbing their eyes as much.

I found him very interesting. I'm sorry I can't remember the doctor's name. It was a couple of days ago.

So we must try hard to not touch our face with our hands at any time especially when we must go out in the public for necessities.

Jmho

I noticed that journalists with long hair are constantly pushing hair away from their face, when outside and wind is blowing, it might be a good idea for people with long hair to tie it back for now, less instinctive face touching to move hair away.

Thank you.

I need my daily dose of Cuomo. He makes me feel better, even if it's just for a little while.

No offense to you margarita but I can't bring myself to click on the link. I know it's news and the media is gonna put it out there but my gosh, these were human beings, their loved ones are mourning. IMO it doesn't matter if we know each one's identity, it feels so disrespectful to me.

It does feel disrespectful. But I think these pictures are necessary to get through to hard headed people. I would allow myself or a loved one that has passed, to be photographed if it saved lives.

CNN just posted that he will be live soon in his daily briefing.

Wow, the man amazes me. He spoke this morning at the ship and I thought that was enough.

I agree with you. Too graphic. We all know that people are dying from it. I don't think the famiies would want their beloved to be fodder for a sensationalist news story. Let the victims rest in peace. And Margarita I am not chiding you-you are trying to help put information out there. I get it.
MOO

IMO A lot of people need to see these pictures. They need a wake up call. There are a few people I might send these picture to.

LOL!......Go read what Texas is doing..... 180 days in jail and/or $1000 fine also if warranted.......LOL !....moo
Thank you!!!
My husband finally went back to work, (prayers answered), in TEXAS! He is considered an essential worker, so he gets a pass (another prayer answered)! BUT NOW, he, my brother and a family friend cannot come home and go back because our home is in...... LOUISIANA!!! So we will not see them until this mess has died down, but at least we are getting to pay our bills (prayers answered)!

They are only stopping cars and asking them to self-isolate and then sending them on into Texas. Most states (except Florida) are self-isolating. No one is arresting anyone at the border.

IMO the airborne aspect speaks to being in close contact as somebody coughs/sneezes in your immediate space. Based on science I have followed.

Or sings! I know sometimes I spray when singing, when trying to clearly articulate consonants.

Here is another link explaining options

"But what if a child would qualify as a dependent but you don’t want them to? Can a parent simply not claim the child and allow the child to file a tax return and collect a check? I don’t think so. I believe that if you qualify as a dependent, you're a dependent unless you're otherwise excluded by law. In other words, even if you don’t claim your child on your tax return, that doesn’t mean they’re not a dependent.

Some confusion still swirls around this point. As Sen. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) noted, Congress is trying to squeeze what would have been several months’ worth of work into five days of legislation. There are going to be holes and we will need guidance. Treasury has not yet issued guidance and I suspect that they will address this issue specifically. I expect to see it after the President has signed the bill into law."

I’ll update this article once that’s available. The IRS will eventually post information on its website, but for now, there's just a banner:

High Schoolers & College Students May Not Be Eligible For Stimulus Checks
