We're now under stay at home orders in Maryland effective 8 pm tonight. Not sure how much this really changes for us, we're still allowed to go out for essential groceries/supplies/medical needs. My husband and ex (my daughter lives with him) are still essential so it doesn't really affect them. Does mean my daughter will continue to be home alone at her dad's house, the consequences of her choice to go to Ft. Lauderdale for a week when schools closed, which resulted in her being banned from our house for at least 14 days from her return. A shame since it's her last year at home and I'm home now too so it would've been nice to be together...

The Antibody Test to See if You've Already Had the Coronavirus | Drug Discovery And Development

Update on progress in developing antibody tests.

Turns out, several places have the test, but they have not been purchased in great numbers by US states or municipalities.

If we had widespread use of this test, we could rearrange medical personnel so that only people with antibodies were allowed to treat CoVid patients.

So far, the big orders for the tests are going to Europe and the Middle East.

DH is being sent home from CA. He’s a locum working in a clinical setting and all non essential reads are being done at hospital for patients either in ER, ICU or CCU. Possibly no work for him until perhaps June.
Stay safe, we now have a few cases in our parish. No indication how they got it, or even if they’re alive. Having trouble reading Louisiana stats.

I need my daily dose of Cuomo. He makes me feel better, even if it's just for a little while.

I have scaled back watching so many PCs.

So now I just watch the daily briefing with our President, Dr. Fauci, and all of the other medical experts he always has available answering pertinent questions, and advising us all about the latest updates for our country overall.

The media (Fox)constantly updates us through the day on NY, and all other hotspot states, and cities dealing with the pandemic. They have done a fantastic job, imo.

I know people get annoyed with Cuomo because he can come across as too demanding, bossy, etc. I just wish we here in South Carolina had a governor with half the gumption this guy's got. Feels like we're just adrift all the while teetering on the brink of disaster. Like a tattered boat on the edge of the waterfall. Seems like a governor should at least make the people of his state feel like he CARES.

Edited to say: Cuomo really does care IMO. I feel like he cares about me simply because I'm a fellow American.

The "Stay at Home" policy is being interpreted fairly liberally here in Montana.

That will change because it will be abused and not respected. Speaking from experiece of hundreds heading to Mt Snowdon, Ben Nevis, National Trust land on the weekend before UK lockdown. Schools had just closed, warm weather and everyone thought it was holiday time.

Musician James Taylor and his wife give $1 million to Massachusetts General Hospital to fight pandemic.

James and Kim Taylor donated $1 million to back Mass. General’s ongoing efforts to battle the escalating coronavirus pandemic.

The money will be directed to the MGH President’s Emergency Response Fund, which was established in the wake of the Boston Marathon bombing to provide flexible resources to support immediate needs.

James Taylor is a well-known singer and songwriter who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000. His late father, Isaac, was a physician who served as chief resident at the hospital and conducted research there. He died in 1996.

Kim Taylor has served on the board of the MassGeneral Hospital for Children for the past five years. She formerly directed public relations and marketing for the Boston Symphony Orchestra.

I asked because even a lot of shelter in place has provisions for outdoor exercise. Bicycle riding being perfectly acceptable. It was a completely innocent question.

Yes, I take an evening bike ride with my son to get out of the house a bit. We don't interact with anyone, and if we do encounter someone else on our ride, we keep distance. When we were out the other evening, another biker just went around us at a safe distance.

• New York reported almost 7,000 new cases of the virus, bringing the total to nearly 66,500. Most of the cases are in New York City, where 36,221 people have tested positive, the city says.
  
  
• Gov. Philip D. Murphy of New Jersey announced 3,347 new positive coronavirus cases in the state, bringing the total to 16,636. There were 37 new deaths, for a total of 198.
  
  
• In New York, the number of people hospitalized was 9,517, up 12 percent from yesterday. Of those, 2,352 are in ventilator-equipped intensive care rooms.
  
  
• In a hopeful note, Mr. Cuomo said that while the number of hospitalizations continues to grow, the rate which it is growing was tapering off. “We had a doubling of cases every two days, then a doubling every three days and a doubling every four days, then every five,” Mr. Cuomo said. “We now have a doubling of cases every six days. So while the overall number is going up, the rate of doubling is actually down.”

• New York has tested more than 186,000 people in March, about one percent of the state’s population. Governor Abbott Issues Executive Order Mandating 14-Day Quarantine For Travelers Arriving From New York Tri-State Area, New Orleans | Office of the Texas Governor | Greg Abbott

Every person who enters the State of Texas as the final destination through an airport, from a point of origin or point of last departure in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, or the City of New Orleans, or in any other state or city as may be proclaimed hereafter, shall be subject to mandatory self-quarantine for a period of 14 days from the time of entry into Texas or the duration of the person’s presence in Texas, whichever is shorter. This order to self-quarantine shall not apply to people traveling in connection with military service, emergency response, health response, or critical-infrastructure functions, as may be determined by the Texas Division of Emergency Management. Each person covered under this order to self-quarantine shall be responsible for all associated costs, including transportation, lodging, food, and medical care.


A covered person shall use a form prescribed by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) to designate a quarantine location in Texas, such as a residence or a hotel, and provide a full name, date of birth, home address, telephone number, and driver license or passport information. DPS Troopers, or other approved peace officers, shall collect a completed form from each covered person immediately upon disembarking and verify it against the person’s driver license or passport. Providing false information on this form is a criminal offense under Section 37.10 of the Texas Penal Code. Questions about this form should be directed to DPS at (800) 525-5555.


A covered person shall proceed directly from the airport to the designated quarantine location entered on the DPS form. Any covered person exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 shall be escorted to the designated quarantine location by a DPS Trooper.
