Musings....Anyone else watching the news shows, MSNBC...CNBC etc and fascinated seeing everyone remote in from their homes/apts? Most are right there in their living rooms, dens and kitchens. Love checking out the pics ,decor and homes.
OH the little things.....

I had a date since Covid, it was perfect, I was appx 8’ from him the entire time. After he left, I only needed to Lysol the remote, he’s a habitual surfer, not my type.
Farmers only.com has an ad on, but I’ve seen none from other dating sites. I guess if one wants to use online dating service they should simultaneously go to suicide prevention.com
I don't think it is possible with these social distancing rules. Maybe by phone?

We had a host of schools closed PRIOR to Covid for “influenza” outbreaks. Now, I wonder, especially the late January & early February closures. Moo

Same here, though not quite full closures. In fact my daughter that has asthma was admitted to the PICU for 5 days over Christmas for a sudden and very quickly escalating attack that they had a hard time getting under control - they had to transfer her to a better equipped hospital from the ER we went to. They tested for flu but were negative. Then in Jan, two of my other kids had slight fevers and stayed home from school. The school told us there was a bug going around, seemed most kids were out for only a day or so and back to it, which was the case for them. I have a hard time believing any of it was COVID-19, but if down the road they report the US exposure was actually Dec or earlier, I wouldn't be surprised.

Looking forward to the antibody test.

Last I checked, there were no state forums for New York or Ohio. Can't remember if Louisiana has one.

Checked. Yes, Louisiana does have one, started by the lovely Bayou_Belle.

Louisiana is not a resource-rich state and I hope the federal government can see its way clear to declaring it a disaster/emergency and getting FEMA to release supplies there.

Louisiana is hard hit for many reasons and we all know Mardi Gras is one of them. The jump in deaths is very very concerning. This is Tuesday - Sunday is not far away. Their increase in total cases was 30% (basically, exponential now) They're not testing everyone, of course.

Governor did not close Mardi Gras. He's issued stay at home - after the horse is out of the barn. IMO

Just an FYI. We went to the Walgreens drive through to pick up a prescription for my husband. It's behind glass and they pick up the phone and talk to you through a speaker and put your prescription in a little drop box.

There was a sign on the window that they are selling cleaning, personal care, and grocery products through that no-touch drive through. You just say what you want and they'll get it for you and leave it in the drop box.

Just in case anyone needed another no-touch drive-up option for necessities!

<modsnip: quoted post was removed>

It must be distressing delivering without the partner present but I presume it's to expose health care workers to as few people as possible. Are they allowed facetime/skype?

When I was born, dads weren't allowed in the hospital never mind the delivery room.

Holy crap! I'm 63, not yet eligible for Medicare. My premiums for a high deductible plan are already $800.00/month.
Isn't it awful? I'm not yet 60 and pay $750 for a high deductible plan. Another 40% on top of that and I might as well quit my job because I'd be working more than half the month just for insurance (crappy insurance at that)!

Pentagon says it still hasn't sent ventilators because it hasn't been told where to send them - CNNPolitics

This is just so very sad and unnecessary.

As U.S. Hospitals Face Shortages, Trump Vows to Send Ventilators—to Europe
“As we outpace what we need, we’re going to be sending them to Italy, we’re going to be sending them to France, we’re going to be sending them to Spain, where they have tremendous problems, and other countries as we can,” Trump said. “But the fact that we’re doing so many so quickly is a tribute to our great companies.” The president also suggested that the shortage of personal protection equipment for U.S. health care workers was also on its way out, as he promised to send “approximately $100 million worth of things, of surgical and medical and hospital things to Italy. "
