Texas has 256 or so counties. The hotspots do have stay-at-home orders.
We exercised the same suggestions at the beginning. I don’t think it prevented anyone from crossing county lines. Now our issue seems to be people crossing state lines. Some line crossing can’t be helped. In KY it is not unusual for a resident to work in OH, WV, TN or IN. Short of hibernation and limiting food intake in order to preserve stash, idk what more one can do.

FWIW, I wear regular rubber gloves- remove and put in a tray in the car- hand sanitize, and when I go home, wash my hands and the rubber gloves and the tray. You do have to be careful not to contaminate the inside of the gloves, but you make less trash. There was an article pleading with people not to leave disposable gloves and masks all over. I have seen some that do not make it to the trash can and then I imagine no one wants to pick them up.

Morning everyone!

I saw on the news this morning that some are using hand sanitizer all over the outside of their gloves then they let them dry well before storing them to be used again.

I'm sure there are many trying to think of ways to possibly reuse items that are in short supply now.

I finally was able to order two large cans of Lysol from Amazon, but no telling when I will receive them. I couldn't find any Clorox wipes on Amazon so I made my own by using the same empty container of Clorox wipes I already had.

Also the product Odoban disinfects as well, and a gallon will last a long time because its diluted with a mixture of Odoban and water. It also has a very pleasant smell. I already had 2 gallons because each spring I wash all of our inside walls down with it. It can be used to disinfect floor surfaces too.

Since I'm known as a clean freak anyway constantly cleaning now comes natural for me. I clean my hardwoods, and tile almost every day, and every day in high traffic areas. Plus we are taking our shoes off outside if we have had to go anywhere in public. I believe the soles of our shoes could certainly have the virus, and especially if they have deep ridges in the tread of the soles where the virus could be trapped.

Imo, there isnt any such thing as too much cleaning or too much protection.

One of our good friends called yesterday to tell us one of his neighbors contracted the virus, and then his daughter contracted it trying to take care of her father. He passed away this past Monday, and his daughter died from it the next day. :(

Please be safe everyone. It's going to get much worse before it gets better. Its more important to follow what the experts recommends than ever before. Please stay home unless its unavoidable.

I think it will shortly be recommended that anyone who has masks to wear them. Those who have enough for personal use, and not large quantities that are needed by healthcare workers. It certainly cant hurt to stem the spread. Remember to not touch the mask, and only use the ear piece to remove them.

I think we all have learned we must NOT touch our face with our hands even though we do so countless times a day without thinking anything about it. We must change our normal habits.

Praying for our nation, and all of our citizens. More than anything I pray that each one of us does everything humanely possible to protect ourselves, and if all does this it will protect all others which should be everyone's goal.

Jmho

The reasoning here escapes me. Or lack of reasoning.
Several of the states regularly appear on lists charting those spending the least on public education - Oklahoma, for example, is last in amount spent per pupil, and on teachers' salaries. Mississippi, which - blessedly - just issued stay at home, is also traditionally at or near the bottom in education categories. And there are other commonalities.

I really hope and pray this little girl will survive.
It's terrible to think this virus is killing a whole new generation, I hope she pulls through this, poor little girl.

Half the world in lockdown: 3.9 billion people are currently called on to stay in their homes due to coronavirus

3.9 billion people are currently called on to stay in their homes due to coronavirus | Daily Mail Online

It is incredible.

#StayHomeSaveLives

It really is incredible, isn’t it. Every so often, a figure like that comes up and it’s so hard to believe the numbers involved.
I was thinking about your Mum, Greg, and how fortunate her surgery happened when it did. I hope she is doing well.

  2. First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, in her daily briefing, confirmed that 126 people have now died - up 50 on yesterday
  3. She explained that the big jump in numbers was due to a recalculation of the figures

  5. Ms Sturgeon said the other 40 were cases not previously notified "due to delays in family liaison"

Simon Coveney: 'Covid-19 restrictions may go on beyond 12 April'

(Ireland)

TÁNAISTE SIMON COVENEY has said restrictions on public movement due to the Covid-19 emergency may be extended beyond the current 12 April deadline.

Speaking to the reporters today, Coveney said may be extended on advice on public health experts.

“I think people do need to realise that these restrictions may go on for sometime and it’s wrong to put a timeline on it,” he said.

“We’ve set an initial period but I think it may well be that we will need to go beyond that initial deadline. But again that will be a decision taken with the best public health advice that we can get.”

Speaking ahead of a Cabinet sub-committee meeting on Covid-19 this afternoon, the doubling of bed capacity might not be enough.

He said it is important to “take positives when they are there” stating that the spread of the virus is staying below what was predicted some weeks ago, but it would be wrong to be complacent.

“What the HSE is doing is doubling bed capacity in the space of a couple of weeks to add, if we need it, an extra 10,000 beds to the system.

Almost 100 staff and residents in one nursing home test positive for Covid-19, Dáil hears

ALMOST 100 STAFF members and residents in one nursing home have tested positive for coronavirus, the Dáil has heard today.

Fianna Fáil’s spokesman for health Stephen Donnelly said the nursing home has 200 staff, 70 of whom have tested positive for Covid-19.

He said of the 100 residents, 19 have tested positive and four have died.

In addition, three of its kitchen staff and several cleaning staff have left the business.

“It does not know where it can get help, given that no agency staff are available. I imagine every Member in the House has been contacted with similar stories,” said Donnelly.

“The situation is very serious. Nursing homes cannot get the staff they need, particularly in areas where additional skills, such as palliative care, are required. They cannot get their hands on personal protective equipment. They are receiving small amounts but that is not enough,” he said.

Donnelly acknowledged the HSE is trying to deploy its staff to try to plug some of the gaps, but much more is needed, he said.

@oceanblueeyes when we have prevalent equine viruses in the area, we put foot baths in the barns, one at each door. Mandatory anyone entering or exiting sanitize their soles. We use bleach/water in a shallow feed pan. I have one on my porch, After I’m in a store, I disinfectant, leaving shoes outside. Exercise caution if leaving footwear outdoors. A friend had around recluse in his boot last year, he nearly died & ended up losing 2 toes. Also, my dog isn’t interested in drinking bleach water, but some might.
