The Internal Revenue Service plans to send electronic payments April 9, as part of the $2 trillion coronavirus law, which is a week sooner than expected, according to a plan circulated internally on Wednesday.

But $30 million in paper checks for millions of other Americans won’t start being sent out until April 24, as the government lacks their banking information, some of which won’t reach people until September. The news comes as unemployment in the U.S. soars, with more than 10 million claims filed in March.

- The time to act here in Kentucky was weeks ago, but if you are still not taking this seriously - now is better then never.

arh1.PNG

We are approaching what will be a very critical time in response to the virus. We currently, as of 6 p.m. Wednesday, have 680 cases. Gov. Beshear warned that we are in the beginning of the "surge" across Kentucky.

In Eastern Kentucky, confirmed cases are still not widespread. This week we learned of several cases in multiple counties, including some in Perry and Pike counties that are the first in those areas. Does that mean there are not cases in every county? No, not at all. We are told to expect that someone in every county already has the virus.
What we do now is critical. Why? Because when a COVID-19 surge hits Eastern Kentucky, it will hit hard.

Jeff Bezos donates $100 million to U.S. food banks

Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos is donating $100 million to food banks across the U.S. so they can feed needy Americans as the novel coronavirus cripples the economy.

"Even in ordinary times, food insecurity in American households is an important problem, and unfortunately COVID-19 is amplifying that stress significantly," Bezos said on Instagram Thursday. "Millions of Americans are turning to food banks during this time."

Coronavirus updates: More than 1 million COVID-19 cases worldwide

Now THIS is impressive. This is exactly one thing the country really needs right now. Now we need delivery logistics resolved and help with distribution (National Guard). Marking to read the article to see if distribution is addressed.

Note, he does not dispute the airborne theory.

I tried to find information on each states peak. What does peak even mean? I wonder when things will settle enough to see family? This is what I and others I talk to get really low about. Seems like people socialising now are adding to the length of time before we can do visiting too. I had a very depressed person on the phone 2 nights ago and I stay as positive for them as I can. I admit this will break certain people down in many ways. I am letting my son stay with me after he works in public. I will not turn my son away when he has no where to go. I couldn't sleep after telling him he can't come home. As soon as I accepted the low risk of him bringing it home, my whole mind and body relaxed. I do not want to regret shoving a person I brought into the world out the door. I would rather get the virus or die. Like I said my nerves have calmed way down with the choice my husband and I made. My opinions

Experiments
show that regulated breathing can slow heart rate, improve digestion, lower blood pressure and ease anxiety. Other research shows that conscious breathing patterns can lower cortisol levels and can even downregulate the amygdala, the anxiety center in the brain.

One such pattern, popularized by integrative medicine doctor Andrew Weil, is called 4-7-8. (Breathe in for 4 counts, hold for 7 and breath out for 8.)

“Often, [soft belly breathing] is the first step toward healing a variety of different kinds of trauma, dealing with chronic stress, and getting on the road to much greater resiliency,” he said in a recent interview with a wellness writer. “It’s an antidote to fight or flight — but it’s also an antidote to those feelings of helplessness and hopelessness.”

In these examples, breathing patterns varied but had three things in common: slowed respiratory rate, an exhale that is longer than the inhale and a breath that starts deep in the belly rather than high in the throat. The theory is that these activities turn on the vagus nerve, which sends calming messages to our brain and other organs.

Here is the link that has peak dates by state

The coronavirus outbreak won't peak in every state at once

When you get the curve down, it’s like hitting the restart button, per Dr. Fauci.

Or he ate one of Margarita's brownies? I too thought his eyes looked glazy and red.

And Dr. Birx had a red nose. I remarked it looked like Rudolph. My companion remarked she looked very tired. Not good. For either of them or anyone else who gets exposed.

Here are the peak projections for each state per the modeling referred to by Birx. On the green line you can choose your state. They have modeled some interesting data re projected need for ventilators, total cases and deaths. This is the famous research group in Seattle. IHME | COVID-19 Projections

ETA the model is best case scenario assuming compliance to social distancing norms.

What is the difference between a stay at home order and a shelter in place order?

IIRC, according to Gov. Cuomo a "shelter in place order" is invoked only in times of wartime and requires the invocation of martial law/military to enforce it. More like "house arrest" than "stay home whenever possible".

Trump says he's invoked the Defense Production Act "against 3M for face masks"

[...]

3M, which is the largest maker of medical face masks and more specifically the N95 respirator mask, said in a statement earlier this week that it already doubled its global output in January, and also plans "to double our capacity once again, to 2 billion globally within the next 12 months – and some of that additional capacity will begin to come online in the next 60-90 days."

In the US, 3M said it expects to produce 50 million 95 respirators per month in June, a 40 percent jump from current levels.

Even with accelerated production, the company's CEO Mike Roman acknowledged in a statement that "the reality is that demand for N95 respirators is much higher than the industries’ ability to deliver. That is why we continue to explore innovative partnerships and solutions to help protect our healthcare workers in this extraordinary time."

And according to Fox and Florida emergency manager they are being sold to foreign countries.
I presume you have seen this news clip. Criminal charges should be considered against executives at the helm.

Trump announces new guidelines for nursing homes

[...]

Trump said the administration would recommend “all nursing home facilities assign the same staff to care for the same group of residents consistently” to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

In addition, the President said the administration would recommend that nursing homes “designate separate areas for healthy and sick residents.”

[...]

His guidelines come after more than 140 nursing homes across the country have been hit by Covid-19.

Wow, that seems short sighted. No staff ever gets infected?

Javits Convention Center will now treat coronavirus patients, New York governor says

[...]

“The state-owned Javits Center has been turned into a 2,500-bed emergency medical facility being run by the US Army. The original plan for Javits was that it be used to take non-Covid patients from hospitals to open up hospital beds,” Cuomo announced. “However, the number of Covid positive patients has increased so dramatically that it would be beneficial to the state if Javits could accept Covid positive patients."

Cuomo added: "I asked President Trump this morning to consider the request and the urgency of the matter, and the President has just informed me that he granted New York's request. I thank the President for his cooperation in this pressing matter and his expeditious decision making."

Random thought:

It is often via “incidental findings” during a check up that problems are detected. Of course we have no choice here but to rightfully postpone elective appointments, however I’m just randomly thinking about the little cancer things that may now go unnoticed and forfeit “early detection”.

This is on my mind as I have an immediate family member with terminal cancer.

So many infinite ripple effects. When a butterfly (or bat) flaps its wings...
