AL at 11:45 am CST, 1352 cases , 22 deaths.

Made my last outing until after this peaks. Went to Walmart. High anxiety again. Many many bare shelves. A lot of folks shopping. Had the tip of my tongue to the roof of my mouth to keep from clenching my teeth.

I just don't understand why I am the only person in my household that is skilled enough to venture out and to take out the garbage. It really does not require any skill level. I am officially on strike. This is just too much anxiety for me. I will take the garbage out or else it will remain in the house. I am wiped out and exhausted and I still have a long work day ahead of me.
I ventured out 2 weeks ago. Local pharmacy. Made me very anxious, I will not be doing again unless absolutely necessary. Ive been at home since end of Jan ( due to job shutdown) so getting antsy. I remind my self a few times a week that my life is worth more than whatever I "think I need".

If we had less people infected, we would need less PPE for hospital workers.

Your statement is very logical. Unfortunately, logic doesn't seem to work.

Oh I agree with you!! Should have started quarantines when the first case showed up in this country. PPP

Ontario Canada predicts 3,000-15,000 deaths. Numbers based on current Intervention Model of course of Pandemic.
Per CTV News

I just find it ridiculous that so much emphasis was put on hand washing, and public was specifically told masks don't help and could hurt

Why were we given such an awful advice?
To avoid a panic run on high quality masks and other quality protective gear. Such a panic buy would consume supplies needed by hospitals.

Right, I posted this yesterday. I’m getting ready to call a friend that works at one in MI, I think she’s at the Baldwin store.
But what about Lowe’s? Is a potted pansy worth risking death? Evidently, yes. I don’t care what anyone buys but I do care that they are endangering the rest of us.
Perhaps LE need to set up tented substations in parking lots? Idk...
I predict bad things, very bad things will start happening at any moment.
On my brief drive, it was obvious tempers are soaring. Everyone is in a hurry to get to the garden center & box stores. I guess panic has set in, maybe they are afraid they won’t get what they need or the store will close?
No hurry to get to the garden centers here. We got 10 inches of snow yesterday so no one can find the dirt.

However, I drove by Walmart yesterday and the lot was full. Here's my beef with WalMart: I used to order things online that were in stock at the store, to be picked up . The items were ready to be picked up in a couple of hours. There's a pick up tower located a few feet from the front door, so all you have to do is bring in the email, with a bar code, that says your order is ready, scan the bar code and the tower dispenses your items. I tried to order some things last week and many of the items now say 'in store purchase only'. That means that instead of simply going to the tower and getting my items, I have to go in the store, find the items myself, and go through the check out. I'm not doing that. What are they thinking?

Do you have Schwan’s frozen food service in your area? They are awesome, imo. You can register online, on your service day your items will be left at your door.

I just want to thank so many of you for posting from other countries. Some of the research and some of these heartwarming stories are just so valuable.
United Kingdom

The Queen has recorded a special broadcast on the coronavirus outbreak to be broadcast on Sunday, Buckingham Palace said.

UK coronavirus live: hospital death toll reaches 3,605, a record daily rise of 684

I’m glad Her Majesty The Queen is doing this broadcast. I hope it will boost morale during this extremely difficult time particularly with older people who are unable to see their loved ones.
She is just so special to me... A highlight of my life, while living in England, was being only a few feet away from her (no social distancing :)) when she and the Queen Mother came out the back of a church into this little park I was sitting in with a friend... The four of us shared such loving little waves!! Her life has been so amazing... no one and nothing will ever replicate her.

oh boy! I do wish they remained open 24/7 but I completely realize that had to come to a screeching halt. I think a lot of us are trying to use less “stuff”, hoping our resources last. If only my dog would concur.

Canada developed the Ebola vaccine. What if Canada said that it could not be shared with the US. Obviously that would never happen, but if it did, wouldn't everyone see that as a problem?
  • "However, 3M issued a warning regarding the Trump Administration’s request to cease exports to markets in Latin America and Canada, saying it would not only bring up “significant humanitarian implications,” but that other countries would be likely to retaliate in the form of ending shipments to the U.S.
  • According to The Financial Times, 3M has resisted calls by U.S. officials to send about 10 million N95 masks being produced in Singapore for Asian markets to the U.S., and that officials in the White House have also discouraged shipments to Canada and Mexico.
  • Trump, meanwhile, had criticized 3M Thursday night, saying the company “will have a big price to pay!” apparently for exporting the masks."
3M Blasts Back At Trump: Company Says Not Selling Masks To Canada Could Spark Retaliation
I think that the home market would always have to be satisfied first IMO.

I respect your opinion. My point is a family of four should not be in WMT. If they allow only 50 in, three can’t enter because 4, three being non-customers entered. I tend to believe what my eyes tell me, always have. What I see is a blatant disregard for human life. Moo moo moo
Sometimes a parent has no other choice. They can’t leave them home alone are drop them off with Gram, can they? I think it’s negligent to leave them in a vehicle especially in hot weather.

My kids are grown so I don’t have that to worry about. I can make allowances for kids, the most vulnerable among us. I’ll wait my turn in line and give them the space they need by taking the long way around, in a store.

My guess is that they do not have the staff to constantly check whether certain items have or have not been panic bought and are in stock.

Regarding government business loans. My bank not ready.
They took down my information and will get back to me.

I am wondering if the emergency act that Trump invoked (Defense Production Act? I don't recall exact name) requires American companies like 3M to produce equipment for the U.S. and they have not been complying, from what I have read. MOO

Here in the US, everything is decentralized to the state level. Even more confusing, some states initially delegated authority to each county.

As a result, there is no nation wide definition of "essential". Some states are on UK style lock downs. My state is not. In addition, my state has a broad definition of "essential" and parks etc. have remained open.

The US is so divided mentally I doubt that even a federal mandate to shut down and stay home would work. There will still be those who defy.
