It can be caught both ways. From touching an infected surface then touching your face or directly from someone coughing, sneezing, spitting, breathing, sweating etc I understand.

Just think of how much face touching would have been prevented if we were instructed to wear masks in public.. Would have saved us from ourselves!:mad::mad:
Am I the only one that gets angry every time I see so-called "experts" telling the public to only wear masks if you are sick? This seems the equivalent of telling civilians under random sniper fire that they should not wear a bullet proof vest, even if they already own one, because we don't want the public buying up all the bullet proof vests. Sure you may get from place to place quickly a few times without a sniper getting you but eventually risky practices are going to catch up to you. I'm not in favor of playing Russian roulette with my health and the health of my family while all I'm doing is trying to keep them from starving, TYVM.

I totally understand that the medical workers need the masks the most but they could at least tell everyone else to cover their faces with what they have when they have to go out. The president has started saying in the last couple press briefings that people could use scarfs to cover their face to go to the store. But he's been very non-committal about it and the way he says it makes it sound like it's OK to do if it makes you feel better to do it. I wish the people at the top would URGE people to use scarfs and make their own masks. Sure, it's not as good as an N-95 mask but it's better than nothing. Why can't they at least tell people that!

I'm also pissed off right now because My DH had to go to his office this morning. He has been working from home but he still has had to go to the office about once a week for things that he can't do remotely. A couple times he could do what he needed to from the safety of his truck. One time last week he had to physically go in the building and the guards wouldn't let him enter with a mask on. They told him if he was wearing a mask it meant he was sick and infectious. So he took his mask off, did what he had to and got out as fast as he could. How stupid is that? That they let him enter after he took his mask off. What's to prevent someone who is sick and not taking this seriously from doing the same thing? Now he has to go enter that building again. He promised me not to touch his face, to wash his hands and to stay as far away from other people as he could. But I fear it won't be enough. He took a mask with him in case the business has changed their policy on masks.

Sorry for the rant, I'm just so angry that this bad advice to not wear masks continues to be put out there. The tide seems to be slowly changing in favor of masks for the public but it's way too slow for my comfort.:(:confused:o_O

MOO.
...:mad::mad: right with ya.

WHAT???? People are gross. I'm done. Back to my asparagus bed. And I am so very grateful to have one. Hope I can hang onto it.
You might have to alarm it to stop poachers.

My son lives in near Austin, TX. Yesterday he called me and told me that he had been exposed to COVID. He works for the Texas government as an IT person. He was sent to Austin to help the employees there with their computer problems. He can do a lot remotely but the internet/computer systems are really slow and ancient. So he had to go to Austin. One of the guys he worked there with became ill and was given the test (About one week ago). Results came back yesterday as positive. Fortunately, the guy is not very ill.

After he returned from Austin he was told to go to San Antonio and help there. My son told his boss that he did not think that was a good idea since the guy he worked with in Austin was ill and waiting for his test results. A few supervisors in San Antonio had to sign off on some kind of form so my son could work there. Insane! I wonder what those supervisors think now that my son was in contact with a person that tested positive. On the bright side, maybe his workplace will get faster internet and up-to-date computer systems.

I am kind of freaking out.

I dont know the answer, I'm thinking it was to save the supplies for hospital workers. This is a horrible failure. So many lives at stake

But people would have started making them for the public much much sooner.

That's a problem in itself though. Touching a mask with an infected hand infects the mask which you are then breathing through. No win situation really.

Hope all is with your Son. I was exposed to 5 people in total thru work. I am fine and finish my Isolation as of today. Wanted to send you a positive.

I think they are being made (by China?) as quickly as possible. Supply and demand and price increases then happen. No one knew how quickly this would spread although the warnings were there but not listened too.

I just heard on Fox the data they have now compiled from all countries with the virus, and it terrifies me.

They said men are three times more likely to windup seriously ill in the hospital or worse with the virus.

I have so many special wonderful men in my life I love with all of my heart, and soul including dear lifelong friends, but countless beloved family members.

I pray all men everywhere take this new complied data very seriously, and will heed all of the CDCs guidelines, and warnings since they seem to be the highest risk gender. :(

All loss of life is heart shattering no matter the age or gender., but for them to know they are the ones getting it more often with many horrible results has to be terrifying for not only the male worldwide population, but all who cherishes them.

Well ..that is an octopus question. ha!

The US has so many private/for profit prisons, where they have incarcerated so many folks for truly low-level crime. So, the thought has been that a lot of these folks who have been doing time for some crimes (like marijuana!) and some prisoners who are really old and expected to be totally harmless----would probably be better off going to outside homes. So that means, less medical coverage that LE is responsible for.

But remember Shawshank Redemption.. this is not an easy solution.

Those are just 2 of the octopus arms. I am sure you will get some others.
AND ...they are making some bigtime mistakes out there, that are making people really angry.

same here @oceanblueeyes I harp at them via text/calls all day long. Fortunately most of mine make it thru life with little social contact & work outdoors. But, like all of us they must eat, get their vehicles serviced, etc.
