It's Canada and Latin America that are being threatened by the US. It means that shipments from China should now go directly to a Canadian port first to ensure that products designated for Canada arrive in Canada. Maybe Canada will steal all the shipments intended for the US too.
Who would blame them, for real? Countries probably should not be faulted for looking out for their own citizens, at least initially.

Humanitarianism is certainly important as well and I hope will prevail. But this seems to be the same kind of competition going on among the 50 states as well..due to good old fashioned capitalism, price gouging, and greed. JMO

Then it should say died of "lung cancer" or "such and such" with Covid as a contributing factor. They died sooner because of Covid induced pneumonia so Covid should be listed in the statistics.
The death certificate would say that but the fact CV19 is a reportable disease means it goes down in the CV19 figures.

PM Trudeau did his daily briefing today and in a somewhat understated fashion indicated that this matter is being dealt with between US Administration and Canada. He hinted that withdrawal of goods and services is a two way street. As of this morning, it sounds as if the issue is being worked out between the two countries.

Did Trump forget about NAFTA, the water that flows from Canada, oil, agriculture? It's unfortunate that he needed the reminder. Hopefully Canada and the US can play nice during the pandemic.

The press, worldwide, is happy to print the news to fit their opinion. IMO they print half truths, or conveniently leave out information just to sow seeds of discord and to keep citizens in an uproar. I have to remind myself in today's events, that what I read is not necessarily what was said, only their interpretation. I will not let news make me distrustful of other countries, or other states because that means that people behind the news win.

The UK death rate is so high. I don't understand if it is really this bad or if lack of testing is just making it seem that way.

I have been seeing this as well. So LOW in Germany, but so high in Italy, France and UK. I see the UK is over 8%... Hopefully some of our Brits can weigh in.

I am watching as Florida is now outpacing Lousiana with total cases, but Florida has 1/2 of the fatality rate. Florida is getting "special fed treatment" of course. I am getting livid for some of these other states just begging for help.

Sometimes a parent has no other choice. They can’t leave them home alone are drop them off with Gram, can they?
I think they’d be better off with their own gram, rather than exposed to hundreds of other grams/people. Moo, of course.

Can somebody explain to me the reasoning behind letting prisoners out?
I had read it was to protect staff, but cannot link to wherever I read that. JMO.

This is not just media spin or opinion. I watched PM Trudeau speak to the issue in his daily presser on national tv this morning.

Prisons don’t typically have a huge medical staff, imo. Covid is reportedly hitting lockup institutions hard, including staff. I think it will take a harder toll, an infected inmate might be inclined to purposely spread the virus in hopes of walking out. Moo

I just find it ridiculous that so much emphasis was put on hand washing, and public was specifically told masks don't help and could hurt, when it appears the virus is likely airborne and could be transmitted by simply breathing or talking with an infected person (who might not even know they are infected yet). Hand washing is good in general, but how is it going to protect you fully from an airborne virus?
Why were we given such an awful advice?
It can be caught both ways. From touching an infected surface then touching your face or directly from someone coughing, sneezing, spitting, breathing, sweating etc I understand.

I have another request of Europeans/Brits... I found the article posted regarding the news coming out of Germany with Prof Professor Hendrik Streeck, very very interesting. However I am always so nervous with the Daily Mail. So I found another source discussing this... could someone tell me if this is a reliable source or not ???? I trust the Guardian a lot, but don't know anything about this one. Thanks so much...

@zecats I am very interested to know why your husband thinks so many people try to justify their actions. Why do so many think that they can congregate, attend church, walk in large groups, camp & have group bonfires, etc?

To be clear Dr. Gupta did say if a family completely isolated 14 days & want to get together with another family that followed the same protocol, it is probably safe. He was on CNN town hall last night.
I thought I replied to this, but I guess it never posted. The site can be frustrating with double posts , and now not posting...etc..

My thoughts for Dr. Ze, since he's in his office doing paperwork, etc, is that he would probably say,"I don't ask people to make sense."

Truth is, clients pay for his advice and often don't follow it - don't do the work to alleviate the issue that prompted them to seek his professional advice in the first place. Denial, selfishness, wanting to be their child's friend instead of parent," it can't happen to me" syndrome, "I don't care if it happens to me and I'll take everyone else along with me"....remember I'm speaking for him because I know what he has told me about his difficult cases and when I ask the same question.

But I will ask him and report back later.

Just think of how much face touching would have been prevented if we were instructed to wear masks in public.. Would have saved us from ourselves!
