My state is supposed to peak 4/20 (based on a week ago) but I think it is further out.
Like everyone else, I want this to be over. Lucky enough to be able to work from home but it has its drawbacks. I am not going to complain too much because I am lucky enough to have a job and I am grateful.

We were updated yesterday about numbers and peak : best and worst case scenarios using self-isolation, and numbers without any mitigating factors.

I work from home as well, lots of video-conferencing meetings and other online connections. Some days are more productive than others, but I don't think it matters too much. We're all getting used to a new thing.

We froze a gallon of milk. I removed a cup’s worth because of the expansion. I’ll be interesting to see how it tastes.

It's ok in coffee, cereal and to use in cooking.
It tastes like the freezer to just drink a glass to me.
Everyone is different though!

private golf courses are open here in Florida--each golfer has their own cart-
we arent members here so we cant use the course but the range is open and
non members sometimes use it

He still had a cough after 2 weeks. He spent the 2 weeks sleeping a lot, watching South Park, and doing yoga, body strengthening online, and was generally bored out of his mind. He moved in with three friends and he's well now. He's eligible for $2000/month for the next 4 months, but just got a job. He would rather work than sit around.

I have read that there can be transmission of the virus for some time after symptoms have cleared - not sure whether that has been validated, or the length of time.

People who live alone are typically quite happy with the decision - they still have a daily social life through work and friends. Self-isolation in solitude can mean more effort is needed to be motivated and productive.

Actually, I do love living alone, now after 10 years of it. I have a special “friend” (whom I’ve not seen in 3 weeks but we are face timing frequently) but not being able to be socially active has been hard. It has been hard on everyone.

My son is fixing to get laid off. I want him to come South. He lives in DC and his studio apartment is smaller than the largest bedroom in my house (my bedrooms are average size and not huge). I told him to take the essentials or what he wants to keep and head South. It will be a 14 hour drive if he does not stop and I plan on letting him have the upstairs in my house. I have a small dormitory refrigerator at work that I plan to get to put upstairs. No bed upstairs but it does have a comfy couch. His studio apartment is more than my mortgage payment. Unbelievable.

I really want my son to come home from LA. Similar story. Also a 14 hour drive with his cat.

Ha! My husband graduated in computer science from USL. At that time USL, MIT and NASA had the same computer system. The students had to schedule a slot (sometimes in the middle of the night) to use the key punch machines. Those were the days.
Maybe you and my husband can volunteer. I sent a text to my dear friend who is our state senator telling them to start contacting retirees to volunteer to get the unemployment claims processed.

Ha ha. I remember making those cards, and developing programs for a computer in high school. All binary system. We had 1000's of those cards.

I think i need some advice-- i posted about this on the wrong thread (Texas)---
my husband is freaking me out--we are in a gated community in Fort Myers Fla--
There is a driving range here -' in the past few evenings my husband has been hitting
golf bakks on the range. There are a couple other older men hitting golf
balls --so my husband and these two men are talking to each othef- i asked him how far apart they are and it is not 6 feet--more like 2-4 feet-- he doesnt see anything wrong
with that situation and i am upset-- we are both in our mid 70s and i have asthma--
i dont know how to handle this but i see this as a threat to my life--i dont consider this time with this virus and all, a time for socializing---am i over reacting?

I do not know the answer to that. I never even thought of it before. I know the care aides do not make much money . It is really scary. These folks are in a Nursing home because they need round the clock care but most people don't care about 'old people' even though the Nursing home has residents of all ages.

This. Most do not give a rat's rear about the at risk folk, the disabled, and the elderly. The aides are paid horribly, nursing home cost is outrageous, and there are decade long waiting lists for all services for the disabled in every state. I am simply not buying that all of a sudden everyone cares about the most neglected populations. I hear people in the stores and online- they are worried about there being a bed for them or one of their loved ones.

very good info but i am going to have a come to Jesus talk with him--
i am going to lay it on him--if it is more important for him to shoot
the with a couple strangers and putting both our lives at risk than we need
to do something different-- like i need to distance from him--i am so damn
upset---he just doesnt get it--if i didnt make him wash his hands alk the

During these absolutely horrible times, what is the best job??? I am okay at the moment even though I am not a health care person but what about eye doctors, lawyers, accountants, etc. Society is being hammered across the board. Small businesses are suffering, restaurants airline pilots and flight attendants, Hotels and their staff, teachers
are suffering, etc.

Is there a safe type of job during this type of situation?

For once, I’m grateful my husband is an IT guy. He can run the help desk from home. Very safe.

The School of Chemistry and Molecular Biosciences team has joined forces with Dutch company Viroclinics Xplore to conduct pre-clinical studies to get a better understanding of how the vaccine performs before it's tested on humans.

China had big banquets and celebrations to demonstrate that the virus was not a threat. Then there was a pandemic. I think it is premature to think about celebrating. Was that in today's briefing?

Celebrating would be idiotic, IMO, because we know a second wave is coming. And any celebration will cause people to gather together, which is the last thing we need to do. We just need to get used to the new normal until we have a vaccine.

That's interesting. Australia was also the first to identify the synthetic strain for the virus. Hopefully the success rate is high.

A national day of mourning would be more appropriate. I don’t think it would be right to celebrate when possibly 200,000 plus people have died around the world. We can be massively relieved when there is a vaccine but I won’t feel like having a party.

No, the regular test does not show antibodies, only acute infection.

No covid antibody tests have been approved in Canada, but Canada is working to develop a test. Fake tests have popped up, and quickly shut down.

Are there any authentic anti-body tests in the US?
