So I guess there are 3 possibilities. The first, is that even with the re-opening in various states, the figures show signs of decreasing. The second possibility, is that rather than going down, the curve more or less flattens where it is, some days better than others, but averaging out to a level that desensitizes people to the fact that people are still dying at an alarming rate.

The 3rd scenario would be that even though the numbers in states like NY, NJ, MA begin to come down, the numbers in some of the states opening now, increase so significantly, that the overall totals start going back up.

I'm betting on the 2nd scenario, and that certain states are willing to sacrifice lives in order to remain open, and other states acting more responsibly do not fully reopen, since the virus is still running rampant in the country.

Still, NM has one of the lowest rates in the US - and maybe even in the world! 7-8 out of every 100,000. Less than one person out of a million.

Compared to poor Belgium, with 630 or more per 100,000.

I'm in a similar situation (CDC says my county has plateaued and we've had only 19 deaths in 1 million - that's really good compared to most of California).

You hang in there. Eat your chile and take lots of Vitamin D (at least 5000 IU - I take 10,000 IU after reading a convincing study about flu resistance about 3 years ago).

Most of all, enjoy that clean NM air and sunshine.

Yep, but without any Stay at Home. It's gonna be "bite the bullet" and get through. Each of us will learn more about our genes (long before scientists do). Good luck to all of us, and may we all develop healthy habits. We can social distance on our own, wear face shields, get face shields and masks, etc

I think I'll retire and just stay home. And given that students are probably going to stay home in droves, too (and tourists, and restaurant goers, and clothes buyers, etc), the hoped-for "opening up" and "return to normal" can't happen in a scenario where so many people refuse to participate in contact tracing, quarantining, etc

There is a lot to be said about retiring and staying at home @10ofRods . If folks are considering it and it is feasible, retiring now might be a great time.

I never liked buffets so I will not miss them. I do know that many people in my neck of the woods love the Chinese buffet. Not me, I always ordered vegetable fried rice. I do agree about the fruits and vegetables. I was picking out potatoes the other day, only wanted 2 or 3 and not a whole bag, I wondered how many people have touched these potatoes.

We are potato farmers in Idaho. My educated guess is the only people who have handled them are the clerks in the store who set them out. The rest is pretty much automated or run over machinery from field to store. They are also washed in the warehouse. And cooked or baked before consumption. Potatoes are one thing I would not worry about.

Dennis Ruhnke became known when New York Governor Andrew Cuomo read aloud his handwritten letter. It said Ruhnke sent a mask leftover from his farming days for a frontline worker.

Ruhnke farmed for much of his life. He went to Kansas State University when he was younger, but never graduated. He was two credits away from getting his degree when his father died, so he decided the best decision was to return to his home and take care of the farm.

Agents from the Ohio Attorney General’s office are serving a search warrant at an assisted living center.

It’s happening at the Bickford Senior Living Center in Worthington.

According to Attorney General David Yost’s office, the warrant is related to complaints received by the office and the office’s health care fraud unit executed the warrant.

The complaints appear to be COVID-19 related, Yost’s office said.

Multiple agents from the office are conducting the search warrant, along with Worthington Police.

The exact nature of the complaints has not been released.

I left that out, because I feel like if the availability of testing improves, studios might be able to do some limited productions. And there's also Animation with voice overs. But that industry will suffer too, and people might avoid movie theaters. Netflix might still be in a position to do better than most.

Might be a lot fewer love stories. I can’t imagine wanting to smooch with other actors as this goes on. Seriously, we may just have less touchy feely kinds of movies for a bit. Hallmark won’t know how to cope without romances. Fortunately, they’ve already produced hundreds of forgettable ones they can rerun.

Possibly. Maybe accept it and cooperate to defeat the virus then disconnect Bluetooth afterwards to disable the app. Quick tracing and testing seems to be how Germany and South Korea and other countries have beaten the virus.

I finally downloaded the Aussie govt contact tracing app yesterday onto my phone, after reading their long explanation about all aspects of it. I agree that quick tracing and testing/containment are crucial.

- The app can be uninstalled anytime. The govt will request all to uninstall it when the emergency is over, but you can choose to uninstall it yourself at any time.
- The records are saved for a rolling 21 days (14 day contagion period plus a cushion of 7 days).
- No locations are tracked and/or saved ..... only time/date/phone number/physical proximity.
- When you register, you give your phone number, your first and last name, and your 'age range' (listed in decades) - nothing else.
- If you are found to be positive at any stage you still have to give permission for the health professionals to access your recorded contact data.
- Contacts who will be reached by the medical professionals will not be told who the infected person is.

The govt - simultaneously - enacted a new law making it criminal to use any of the data for anything but covid contact tracing.
