So I guess there are 3 possibilities. The first, is that even with the re-opening in various states, the figures show signs of decreasing. The second possibility, is that rather than going down, the curve more or less flattens where it is, some days better than others, but averaging out to a level that desensitizes people to the fact that people are still dying at an alarming rate.
The 3rd scenario would be that even though the numbers in states like NY, NJ, MA begin to come down, the numbers in some of the states opening now, increase so significantly, that the overall totals start going back up.
I'm betting on the 2nd scenario, and that certain states are willing to sacrifice lives in order to remain open, and other states acting more responsibly do not fully reopen, since the virus is still running rampant in the country.
