Darwinism at its best. Survival of the smartest. Staying at home, watching the folks on TV. My cat and I discussed the stupidity of it all. We saw a dog wagging his tail, with his tongue hanging out, strutting around...really.

And they could all be on the sofa like us.
Cats are the original social distancers.

Caught up now. Too many posts to thank. I was losing hair as well during meno. It is alarming but it does settle. For me and I am sure for all of you dealing with this. I don't think stress helps and we are living a stressful time.

OT: Stress can definitely cause hair loss, often weeks to a few months after the stressful event...which is about the time frame from mid March....based on my experience in the past, it does grow back during a new “hair cycle.”......Take heart!

Though there has been a link between menopause and hair loss, Roberts says she doesn’t think there is a direct correlation. It could be that menopauseand hair loss just occur at the same age.

Other reasons for hair loss include extreme stress; physical trauma like surgery or intense illness; dramatic weight loss over a short period of time; and taking too much Vitamin A, Roberts says. And hair loss can occur a couple of weeks to six months after any of these experiences.

“Someone can have surgery and be just fine and then two weeks later their hair starts falling out,” Roberts says. “It can be very scary when it starts falling out in big clumps.”

My beef with folks attending this rally is who could they spread it to. Yes it's their freedom of choice to attend. What about the innocent folks they may infect. Their Family. Work mates etc. etc. Their choice certainly can have an affect on others. Others trying to stay safe.

NYC De Blasio tells Covid contract tracers not to ask positive cases if they’ve attended a protest.

De Blasio Tells Covid Contract Tracers Not to Ask Positive Cases If They’ve Attended BLM Protests

So, the mayor of NYC has decided, unilaterally, to completely undermine the entire system of contact tracing and epidemiology. Why even bother to do the contact tracing if the data collection is flawed from the get go?

Back to my sofa to have an intelligent conversation with my cat.

which is pretty ironic... because he also literally just said he’s waiting to evaluate the post protest infection rates before we go ahead with Phase 2... it’s almost like he’s lying or something...

<modsnip: Quoted post was removed>

I will link the original source below. It is in quotes from De Blasio’s spokesperson, Avery Cohen. I haven’t heard a denial, so I don’t know.

I have found the more “mainstream media” sometimes won’t report certain stories, maybe that is the case here. If found to be false, I will certainly revise my post.

The hundreds of contact tracing workers hired by the city under de Blasio’s new “test and trace” campaign have been instructed not to ask anyone who’s tested positive for COVID-19 whether they recently attended a demonstration, City Hall confirmed to THE CITY.

”No person will be asked proactively if they attended a protest,” Avery Cohen, a spokesperson for de Blasio, wrote in an emailed response to questions by THE CITY.

We visited for the first time since March with my daughter and family outside. We chose the front yard. Mr Pirate and I sat in chairs on the cement driveway over 6 feet back of the grass. The girls age 2 and 4 had toys, little chairs and snacks on the lawn scattered about. The new baby was in moms arms. Dad and mom played with the kids and kept them happy on the grass while we watched and of course chatted and engaged them. They were told they could only stay on the grass. Having the clear distinction of grass and cement helped. The 2 yr old teased and touched her foot to the cement a few times but mom and dad redirected with toys and a kick ball on the lawn. It was a great visit. That said it was so very hard not to scoop the girls up in a big hug.
I hope you can soon try a social distance visit!!
That sounds so lovely. I am glad you got to have a nice family visit.

I am trying to set something like that up for Father's Day, sometime this weekend. But it is a bit more complicated because my daughter in law spends a lot of time helping with her Mom, who is having her 2nd round of radiation for a cancer reoccurrence.

So she has to be VERY cautious about any kind of germs/microbes etc.

WE miss our 5 yr old granddaughter very much.

We have been FaceTiming and ZOOMing and waving from the end of the driveway. But I miss playing and talking and laughing with her, reading books etc...And hugging her!

We have had a few chances to sit socially distanced with our daughter and her boyfriend. It was so nice to have a beer on the back patio and catch up on things. So hopefully we can do the same with my son and his family this weekend...we'll see....

The study was looking at how a person coughing affects their own mask. These were surgical masks, by the way.

Note: second link below is to an image depicting the effects of a person coughing with and without a mask.

"In an issue of Physics of Fluids, by AIP Publishing, Talib Dbouk and Dimitris Drikakis, from the University of Nicosia in Cyprus, use precise computer models to map out the expected flow patterns of small droplets released when a mask-wearing person coughs repeatedly.

Previous work from this research group showed droplets of saliva can travel 18 feet in five seconds when an unmasked person coughs. This new work used an extended model to consider the effect of face masks and multiple cycles of coughing.

The results show masks can reduce airborne droplet transmission. However, the filtering efficiency of masks is adversely affected by repeated coughing, as might happen when an individual is ill. Repeated coughs reduce the efficiency, letting many more droplets through."

A Subject Coughing in a Cyclic Incident
If someone is repeatedly coughing, they shouldn't be out in public, even if masked. If they are in a clinic or doc's office, then hopefully they can be moved away from others.

But if someone is ill and coughing, why would they be out and around others?

my sister and parents, who live near each other, celebrated their 50th anniversary beginning May by dining in separate rooms, lol. My grandmother was there with them for a few prior Zoom chats, and my folks wouldn’t even let her have her mask down when she spoke to me and everyone else was still masked. They’re entering Stage 4, the lucky things.

Awww! That’s sad but so sweet! 50 years is quite an accomplishment. Congrats to them.

Nothing more stupid than this. It has all the ingredients for death.

-large groups
-indoors
-close to each other for prolonged periods of time
-chanting and yelling (AKA spitting)
-general disregard for masks
-public restrooms
-a desire to believe this is not what it actually is - the highway to COVID hell
They are handing out masks and hand sanitiser at the door, where temperatures are being checked.

Those sound like good precautionary measures.

Let's look at your list and see if it also matches the nationwide protests:
-large groups✔️
-indoors
-close to each other for prolonged periods of time ✔️
-chanting and yelling (AKA spitting)✔️
-general disregard for masks✔️
-public restrooms✔️

Did anyone have the same sentiment about the thousands of protesters? They were applauded and praised. Never heard anyone say that they might be infecting their family or coworkers.

Many of the 'peaceful protesters' were standing one inch away from the faces of the National Guardsmen who were ordered to stand there like dummies, and shouting vulgarities into their faces.

Anyone complain about that or express outrage about spreading the virus?

So I guess being outside in the sun and heat isn't really a cure-all for the virus.
