Yes, and many have. Kroger, Walmart, Best Buy, PetSmart, Cosco, Kohl's, McDonald's and scores more. Nationwide. Irrespective of state mandates.

I also just wanted to point out that even the CDC new guidelines on reopening schools recommends listening to the science and public health officials if the transmission is not well controlled in an area. They also recommend pods, cohorts and other safety measures.

"If there is substantial, uncontrolled transmission, schools should work closely with local health officials to make decisions on whether to maintain school operations," they read. "The health, safety, and wellbeing of students, teachers, staff and their families is the most important consideration in determining whether school closure is a necessary step," the guidance adds.

"Communities can support schools staying open by implementing strategies that decrease a community's level of transmission. However, if community transmission levels cannot be decreased, school closure is an important consideration. Plans for virtual learning should be in place in the event of a school closure."

JMO, and I've only skimmed the new guidelines via articles is that they don't really address the child to adult risk of transmission. Especially in the 10+ age bracket. And that's a very important consideration. They also just say "best available evidence" from other schools who have re-opened overseas but don't acknowledge that the vast majority of those successful countries only did so after the outbreak was sufficiently under control in their communities, after significant safety measures were taken first. It's like ignoring the big elephant in the room.

I think everyone can agree that we want kids to be able to go back to 'in-person' school and to develop their learning and social skills, also availing themselves of the support structures which are in place in public schools. But, in my opinion, safety has to still come first.

No we are not laughing at you. We want you to beat this. We have seen NY numbers climb and then fall along with us. In the UK we got the numbers down without a mask mandate at all. It has only come in since we ended 4 month lockdown and opened up. I am sure the other states will get there numbers down too. Arizona is slowing and so will the others. Hang in there.

It is an extremely militarised border - hard to see how someone got across it. But then it is hard to see how anyone with the virus would get into North Korea .... from anywhere.

Families have been divided by the North/South Korea border and never see each other, except for one meeting that was allowed a couple of years ago. But it was said to be the first and last meeting.

Well yes it is but as it is not based on race sex or age it is legal I guess. The thing is in England the shops are not discriminating at all and are just assuming those without masks have a good reason and are letting them shop, as reported in the link I posted upthread. I hope that approach avoids any confrontations.

It doesn't work like that over here. Discrimination laws apply to a person's national origin, race, color, religion, disability, sex, and familial status. A business may apply whatever dress code they desire. Some restaurants will not admit men without a tie, or people with uncovered underarms, for instance. Most in my beach town do not allow dining in swim attire, and so on. As long as the rules are applied equally, i.e. all must wear a mask, all must wear shoes, all must wear a shirt, it's perfectly legal for a business to dictate such and throw you out.

It's pretty much the same as you describe in the UK too. Dress codes are also common.

Aww I feel really strongly for all the Teachers who are not yet comfortable to re enter the classroom setting. With parents and Organisations practically demanding they re-open. I know from my own children and from myself having once been a child that there does not necessarily need to be 'sickness' around for a child to randomly vomit their guts up.. they are just so unpredictable. There is also the high risk of them being infected and spreading virus without displaying the symptoms.. it's a dangerous and scary situation for any Teacher to be pressured into at this point. The spread needs to be slowed down to an almost complete stop before it can be deemed 'safe' for anybody who works from 1 room that seats numerous people for hours at a time. The Teachers have families too and there lives are being put on the line IMO. And then there are the Hospital Workers who have witnessed more death and heartache in 6 months than any of us will see in our lifetimes. The longer the spread continues, the longer the Medics suffer mentally and emotionally. It has cost billions in money and the cost of human life, is even far greater. And it is not over yet! We cannot change what has happened but we CAN change the direction we are all still headed in. Us people are driving the virus right now and people are dying. I wish people around the World would just get on board. We cannot have our freedom whilst being held hostage by Coronavirus... The saddest part of all... Us Lot In Here Are Not The Ones Who Need To Be Reading This! X

Things change when it becomes a public health emergency. Our Health Ministers can require different things of us, and the shops would likely be in violation if they didn't follow the requirements and do their best to enforce them.

Fortunately, in this country, the police are following up. The 'Bunnings Karen' later filmed herself telling the police that they would be committing armed kidnap if they took her away from the store.
