The only that I know who had it, had streaming yellow, gunky eyes, a low fever and a pain (not like a common cold sore throat) in her throat. She had difficulty describing it, and all she could say was, it was a pain, not a scratchy or raw throat. She also had swollen ankles (I hadn't heard that one before).

Which is why Biden said, "Every governor should mandate mandatory mask-wearing."

Biden calls for nationwide mask mandate: 'Be a patriot, protect your fellow citizens'
You can see where Biden's statement is going with those who feel a mask limits constitutional liberties. Obviously, there are many of these persons wandering about who feel they are above the law and others are not their responsibility. Until and unless it affects them I fear this mentality will continue.

Virginia has a mask mandate and can't force a restaurant to close. Not much good, unless a law.

Attorney General trying to figure out what to do...

The Virginia Attorney General is now getting involved in how to handle a Mechanicsville restaurant that is operating illegally.

The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) pulled its permit for Calabash Seafood due to COVID-19 safety concerns.

“We’re charged with protecting the public’s health and COVID-19 is a threat to the public’s health,” said Tom Franck, Chickahominy Health District Director.

The attorney general’s office tells NBC12 its working with VDH to determine appropriate next steps. Those options include criminal charges or a court injunction to shut down Calabash Seafood.

So so so tired of these I don't have to do this. You can't tell me what to do. It's my constitutional right.

JCAR Upholds Pritzker Administration Rules on Enforcement of Mask Mandates

The Joint Committee on Administrative Rules voted to uphold new enforcement rules proposed by Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker and the state’s Department of Public Health, which will give local health departments and law enforcement agencies additional tools to enforce mask mandates and other protocols implemented during the coronavirus pandemic.

The decision, reached after a hearing Tuesday, will allow those agencies and departments to issue warnings, rather than citations, for violations of state mandates regarding the coronavirus, and also empowers those enforcement agencies to issue fines of up to $2,500 for businesses that repeatedly violate state rules.

...Pritzker cited numerous state groups as supporters of the enforcement measures, such as the Illinois Education Association, the Illinois AFL-CIO, and the National Nurses United Organizing Committee as among those who supported the plan.

Me too. Its not difficult, just pass a law. States are sitting on the fence with the mask mandates. See if we had a law...they would be arrested, restaurants closed and everybody have their day in court. Nope, we gotta spend thousands of dollars, plus the risk to the public.

Even presidential executive orders are not enforceable.

Virginia General Assembly meet next week and its not even on the agenda. No bills at ALL related to mask.

This is a STATE agency requiring POSITIVE employees to continue working. The test were done at the STATE lab. Our governor is a doctor.

Southern Virginia Mental Health Institute email to staff: If positive, but asymptomatic, keep working

The facility was hit with a COVID-19 outbreak late last month. The Danville Register & Bee acquired the email shortly after it was sent out.

The email sent on Aug. 4 to SVMHI staff — and meant to be shared with clients — informs them that coronavirus testing would take place on Aug. 5 with results returned by the following Monday.

However, those who are positive but are showing no symptoms must resume work, according to the email from SVMHI Chief Operating Officer Robin Crews.

"If asymptomatic, CDC [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention] recommends PPE precautions, but continued work routine," she wrote in the email.

Voice messages left for Crews were not returned by deadline Thursday.

Wow I didn't realize that. Basically a state run mental hospital with an outbreak. Took over a month and 8 people before the State of Virginia would test.

The director emailed staff they had to work, even if positive if no symptoms. The health dept said no you can't.

Both refused to speak he the media. But there are other articles they did go work w/positive test.

That is unbelieveable.

Please. Somebody, tell me. With all of our tech and data, why are we not doing surgical lockdowns?
If an area has a cluster, why not lock that area down and maybe 25 miles around it?
Why entire countries and States?
In San Diego, Ca. Which has over 3.5 million residents, we have had a total of 403 deaths throughout all of this.
Our Governor knows where these deaths are happening. <modsnip>
Yet ALL of San Diego is shut down.
<modsnip: Discussing moderation is not allowed>

Our Governor knows where these deaths are happening. Poor, heavily populated areas with a lot of Mexican migrants.
Yet ALL of San Diego is shut down.

Well, the countries borders are closed to stop other people bringing the virus in.

The states borders are closed to stop other people bringing the virus in.

Some are doing surgical lockdowns (we call it ring fencing). Melbourne is ring fenced in Australia. Nobody goes in or out until their outbreak is under control.
Initially they just ring fenced certain Melbourne postcodes (zip codes), until they realised the virus had spread outside those postcodes.

And there is a list of UK towns that are ring fenced (local lockdown) in this article:
Localised lockdown list: UK areas with rising coronavirus cases

I personally see no reason why the US can't do similar - other than the fact that people will probably insist on their constitutional right to go wherever they want.
