My daughter and her fiance had to evacuate 17 horses, 3 sheep and their 3 dogs last night in Oregon. They found a ranch
to go to, but they will be camping out in their in a tent. Fortunately they do a lot of camping, so they are well supplied.
It took them 7 hours to round
up all the animals and get them into the horse trailers as the horses run free on their acerage. She started calling for trailers two days ago to get them ready to help.
Smart. They have no idea how long they'll be camping out, or if their ranch will still be there. They would not go to a shelter for anything. But, they are young and fit.

Glad they got themselves and the animals to safety.

As a potential treatment of COVID-19: Montelukast

FDA puts ‘black box’ warning on popular asthma medication; teens speak out about side effects | KLAS

Just going to leave these two here. I have a thread in the basement about montelukast as my 4 yr old son was on it for approx a year, I’d love any of our professionals in medicine to pop in and take a look.

These were the first two links that came up when I googled montelukast and Covid and montelukast and fda, I hope they are ok to post...

Very interesting thank you. My son suffers from asthma so now I will check the name of the one he is on.

The first link mentions bradykinin which I only heard about 2 days ago. Second link non EU friendly.

I experienced "arbitrary" tonight. Both venues over served me, but under totally different disguises. I have a sick feeling that if I had Covid, I have it again. The shortness of breath, cough and nose "pinch" are all too familiar, and equally unwelcome. Be good.

@MrX, you are in my thoughts. I hope it's just a bit of fluff in the air. I hope you get tested and find it negative. I hope you and those you love stay safe and well.

I got tested this week. She swabbed the back of my throat and both nostrils. I got my results online 24 hours later. Negative.

I live in California and the last people I use for guidance is any State legislator.

Where do your State legislators go for guidance? What is their protocol when making pandemic related decisions? Do they consult with your Public Health Officers, or do they have to toe a party line, or are they left to wing it the best that they can?

The people need and expect good leadership during this time.

Yes. We only had it on public transport before. I do find it a little strange that they are doing it now but didnt before. It's almost like it is a punishment for the situation in Caerphilly county where they had all the raves and gatherings. Only have had to wear the mask at hairdresser and doctor's up till now. The previous post an Welsh link stated the rise in Caerphilly was due to people socializing in other people's houses, so I cannot see how wearing masks in shops is going to help this TBH

Here's a Public Health Wales announcement.

https://phw.nhs.wales/news/enhanced-public-health-action-in-rhondda-cynon-taff-and-merthyr-tydfil/

Enhanced public health action is being taken in Rhondda Cynon Taff and Merthyr Tydfil local authority areas to limit the spread of Coronavirus following an increase in cases.

The enhanced action includes asking people to limit the use of public transport to essential purposes only, such as for education, work, essential medical appointments and food shopping.

Local people are also being advised that they should not visit care homes, unless it is an end-of-life visit. In such cases full PPE will be required.

The enhanced action is the result of a multi-agency Incident Management Team including Public Health Wales, Cwm Taf Morgannwg Health Board, and Merthyr and Rhondda Cynon Taff local authorities.

Dr Kelechi Nnoaham, Director of Public Health for Cwm Taf Morgannwg Health Board and Chair of the multi-agency Incident Management Team, said:

“We are grateful to the vast majority of residents in Merthyr Tydfil and Rhondda Cynon Taff local authority areas for sticking to social distancing guidelines, and for the part they have played in protecting older and vulnerable people from Coronavirus.

“Sadly, there is evidence that some people are ignoring or disregarding these guidelines, which is why transmission has increased, and we are now having to take enhanced public health action to limit the spread.

“Our message for the public is that Coronavirus has not gone away, and it can be a very serious illness - especially for older and vulnerable people.

“We must all play our part to protect our vulnerable or older friends, family members and loved ones. Whilst we may not be seeing hospital admissions at the moment, it will only be a matter of weeks if we don’t act now. This is based on what are observing in Europe and what is scientifically known about how the virus can quickly spread from community transmissions to hospital admissions.”

Other enhanced public health actions being undertaken in these areas will include:

  • Asking people to wear three layer face coverings or masks, where it is safe to do so, whilst in work, in supermarkets and other indoor or crowded public spaces
  • Reinforcement of existing messages around social distancing and the need to follow guidelines
  • Enhanced contact tracing to identify source of infection and understand epidemiology
  • Proactive work with businesses/premises to ensure compliance with social distancing
  • Identified link workers to target getting specific groups to come forward for testing
  • Messaging specifically to schools and children
  • Introduction of mobile testing units
  • Employers encouraging staff to work from home where possible
  • Additional checks on returning travellers
  • Alerts to primary care and hospitals of rising numbers and to advise active testing to identify cases.
The public has a vital role in preventing the spread of Coronavirus by always observing social distancing guidelines – that’s staying two metres away from others - washing hands regularly with soap or by using alcohol based sanitiser, and working from home if they can.

If you or a member of your household develop symptoms of cough, fever or change in sense of taste or smell, you must book a test for Coronavirus promptly to help control the spread of infection.

Don't all the states follow CDC and HHS guidance where health is concerned? I guess I just figured they would with all the travelling around the WH Task force have been doing.

For some reason, the side effects of montelukast are especially pronounced in children and teenagers. I’ve taken montelukast for asthma for over a decade with no ill effects. I was in my 50s when I started the medication.
