Hopefully the president will not continue to ask the press to take their masks off when they wish to speak (they all wish to speak and traditionally, some of them just jump in - but he has interrupted them to tell them to remove their masks). At this point, perhaps he will not do that?

(You can search the video where he's captured doing it on youtube - it wasn't the only time, according to other members of the press - but it was finally caught on video).

The outdoor meetings mean that video can be used more liberally, but no one wants to be banned from the WH, if they are in the WH press corps and the president is finicky about which words and actions of his are made public.

My governor Northam, the MD, takes his mask off at pressers and so does the press. He has Covid now and the first lady. Even the VP debate is going on with just shields.

Maybe the press could use some type of instant message or written questions to be handed over with gloves to the speaker. Should we consider a new form of closed PC, with a speaker and no reporters or audience.

I think about all the live coverage in war zones, bombs going off in the back ground and a news reporter covering in full tactical protection gear. They should expect the same for an infectious disease.

Surely the networks are looking at ways to provide safety to the reporters. I am truly concerned for our reporters, not just the WH, but protests, governor PCs, and other news. I'm concerned about my local reporters covering VT and Radford, being on campus during the outbreak with just a cloth mask.

All my opinion, respectfully.

MN restaurants opened with social distancing (tables). We stopped by one yesterday around 1:00p in downtown St. Paul, MN. Three occupied tables outsides (one was ours), two occupied inside tables. Restaurant next door to this one was not open. A year ago this restaurant would have been packed.

People just are not going to restaurants around here, and many have closed. Of course, in Minnesota we get snow - lots of it. Will Minnesotans be willing to sit outside at 10 degrees? I think they will continue with take-out rather than sitting inside. We are a conservative people.

Wow. Our restaurants are packed, especially on weekends. (FL)

Well MN certainly has that Swedish thing going on !! I haven't checked in on Sweden lately...should take a look.

Thanks for posting these articles. But I am a bit confused, and have probably missed some dialogue here about the dexamethasone.

The article says:

Based on the newly published data, the WHO on Wednesday issued new treatment guidelines calling for corticosteroids to become the standard of care for patients with “severe and critical” Covid-19. Such patients should receive 7-10 days of treatment, a WHO panel said. But it cautioned against use of the steroids in patients with non-severe illness, saying that “indiscriminate use of any therapy for COVID-19 would potentially rapidly deplete global resources and deprive patients who may benefit from it most as potentially life-saving therapy.”

So, is this the ONLY reason suggesting to use only for severe and critical patients? Clearly, there would never be a restriction for this reason for the president, but is there a health-related reason for only giving to severe cases.??

And this 7-10 days......... We heard that the steroids were stopped, right?? But taking more would still be within protocol???( even though any and every case is individualized).

Well, it says given too early it could hamper the body’s abaility to get rid of the virus. But I hear you. Seems like given a bit earlier would be worth it to keep patients from ending up critical. Jmo

Yes and I was one who "rolled the dice" and went on the last RCCL cruise March 13 - Sunday night chef's table was extra delicious because the chef was told the ship was docking for good that Monday upon our return - multiple lobster servings, extra wine and filet mignon - etc - and when I arrived home - I had a home made mask to wear and returned to work wearing it. Then all the talk started about masks not being necessary and so the lawyers were lunching every day - and only began wearing masks when it was mandatory by the County our business is in. They still don't wear them unless meeting with clients but my office is 15 feet away and I social distance at the office. This thread convinced me of the severity of Covid and I've been a believer since returning from that cruise. No Covid was reported post cruise so I count my lucky stars -
JMO

your post is serious, i know, but I am still drooling about that lobster and filet...

Count your lucky stars --for sure!!!

This article is a few months old, and only two people were sent?? Surely, we must have more information on where these investigations have gone??? I'll try to see too, but does anyone have some updated information that they can share?

I hope you can find where an investigation is in process with representatives from WHO.

Most of what I've read is "scouting parties" of a few, discussing what they want to look at. I've not kept up with WHO, lost faith early in. I hope I'm not misjudging them and a full, compete, open, transparent, investigation is being completed.

I clearly remember the videos coming from China in the early days. Reporters risking their lives to get the message out of a most contagious virus, killing thousands. While WHO was saying no human transmission.
Imho...

US surgeon general Jerome Adams cited for visiting closed Hawaii park

The U.S. surgeon general was cited for being in a closed Hawaii park in August while on the islands helping with surge testing amid a spike in coronavirus cases, according to a criminal complaint filed in court.

A Honolulu police officer cited Jerome Adams after seeing him with two men “looking at the view taking pictures” at Kualoa Regional Park on Oahu’s northeastern coast, the citation said.

Adams told the officer he was visiting Hawaii to work with the governor for COVID-19 and didn’t know parks were closed.

At the time, Oahu parks were closed in an attempt to prevent crowds from gathering.

Our President is allowed to have indoor rallies, a fundraising event, held indoors at a Country Club in New Jersey.
New Jersey contact tracers "frustrated" with RNC information from Bedminster fundraiser - CBS News

Other political groups have been allowed to congregate. The Rabbi should state that he is holding a "fund raising event".

The article made a lot of comparisons to the United States and Germany, under Adolph Hitler. The issue is that the Jewish faith is not the only one targeted. That is where the article went a bit sideways. This is not "anti semitism". It is though, hypocrisy to allow political fund raising and arrest a rabbi for holding religious services in his yard.

It is really hypocritical, isn't it.

Also brings up Ronna McDaniel, who was with T before that Rose Garden event..

RNC chairwoman Ronna McDaniel also informed the White House doctor of her positive COVID-19 diagnosis the day before — on Wednesday — an RNC official said. McDaniel had attended a fundraiser with President Trump the preceding Friday, indicating the White House knew the president had potentially been exposed to COVID-19 even earlier, but pressed on with his busy travel schedule.

Murphy told CBS News the White House's decision to hold the event was wrong "at every level."

Ohio is probably where our President will hold his next rally. He will probably avoid states that have a ban in people congregating. Here, in Montana, they even banned Farmer's Markets.

Were they banned recently though? For your population, you are getting significant numbers now, right?

Listened to Tester on the ol telly today... I like him. How is he viewed from within the state??

Hey everyone,

This post lands at random.

If you think a post is "misinformation", rather than Report it with an expectation that Moderators or Administrators deal with it, please correct it through respectable discussion on the thread.

Websleuths is 24/7 and only has X number of Mods and Admins at any given time. There are many active threads in addition to Covid, and it is impossible for WS staff to be fact checking all the various laws and information on 50 different states in the USA or other countries.

If someone posts something you disagree with, find the information that refutes / corrects it and post it.

Thank you.

OAKLAND, Calif., Oct. 7, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- Each year, schools face the challenge of preventing one cough or sneeze from turning into a cold or flu outbreak. For schools that have decided to resume in-person learning, the added pressure of SARS-Cov-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, means taking every possible safety precaution is of the utmost importance.
Recognizing the gap in tools available to educators that provide real-time information, Clorox developed an experimental device to help detect an uptick in illness indicators, including fevers, coughs and sneezes.

How the Device Works infographic
How the Device Works

The new device from Clorox will alert schools when a classroom has surpassed a predetermined symptom threshold developed by Dr. Saskia Popescu, epidemiologist research partner and infection preventionist. The end result is an ability to harness these illness indicators to help schools make informed decisions about prevention and keep classrooms safe.
  • Using specialized thermal sensors, the device identifies potential spikes in body temperature.
  • The proprietary software also recognizes upticks in coughs and sneezes.
  • When the device detects an increase in symptoms that surpass a predetermined threshold, educators receive real-time notifications.
  • Schools can then evaluate the classroom’s risk level and take actions to help prevent the spread of illness-causing germs following their own internal healthcare protocols.
All inputs from the device are anonymized and never recorded or saved, ensuring the only thing that’s identifiable are the symptoms.

A new survey1 from Clorox found that 79 percent of parents believe that implementing technological solutions in schools can help combat the spread of illness. The new device will be donated to select schools around the country and will launch with an initial beta test this fall to help educators and students return to classrooms more safely and confidently.

Why don't they just do zoom PC's? This in person stuff is just completely unnecessary. Or have the press submit questions beforehand. MOO

MOO. He was given the monoclonal first to reduce his viral load and then put on the Dex and then the Rem. I don't think we know the dosages though and whether they were low dose or normal.

The WH sets its own rules so it can effectively do what it likes . However, these positives all of a sudden after 6 months is really suspicious JMO.

They have been banned since July in our county. As for politics, I won't comment, but Montana demographics keep changing. Eastern Montana is more conservative, Western Montana is more liberal.

Yes, there are very good medical reasons for not giving it to non-severe patients. One of them is that Dex is an immune suppressant.

In severe (late stage, critical) CoVid the body’s immune system begins to attack its own cells in a frantic attempt to kill anything and everything as a last ditch effort. The unfortunate young actor who lost his leg had both the blood clots and the cytokine/bradykine storm.

So...giving Dex while trying to use active anti-virals or monoclonal antibodies may suppress some of the immune response. No one else has had this same combination that the president had (at least not in the medical literature).

But if after anti-virals, heparin, and convalescent plasma all are used, doctors then go to steroids (I think they’re doing it a bit earlier - but the white blood cell issues must be severe before they do it...for the normal people like us).

So we don’t know how this will work out, but I assume that if the president is still on Dex (he may not be), it may be a low dose? Who knows, what they are doing is not ordinary standard of care.

Perhaps they’ve discontinued the Dex and are allowing the full immune response to the regeneron to take place. They have most likely prevented his own immune system from doing much with antibodies on its own (but he got the antibodies from regeneron - it is synthetic convalescent plasma, basically).

He got it early (Nick Cordero got it late...)

Exactly. The President cannot compare his "Covid Experience" with the rest of the population. Who recieved little to no medical management until it was too far gone.
