Biden is live, presser on Covid. Talking right now about the inauguration and how it's going to happen.
I don't think it would have made one bit of difference. And it would be anti-scientific AND it would show him as less than transparent. The people who don't want to wear masks will resist and it will be their own local enforcement that makes a difference.
The current situation, wherein non-masking wearing states get extra federal support in the distribution of PPE - and now the vaccine - is about to end.
Give it time. I see small changes already, and by end of January, I predict we'll be doing better with messaging. Our main problem is that news sources are incredibly scattered, there are no national messaging systems - we've lost that altogether. I just got done surveying 70 students as to their news-watching habits. 69 said they *never* watch any form of news (or read it); of those, 10 said that they "probably should" pay attention to current events. IOW, just one person (older than the rest) consumed news regularly - that person checks some form of news every day.
A few said that something related to current events occasionally shows up on their Instagram (almost no one used FB), but that they do not read or register it. So they hadn't heard about the Monolith(s) nor about how bad COVID is elsewhere or who, locally, is most likely to get it. They had no idea that a new stimulus plan was being debated. Average age = 23.

All Hands on Deck! Record-breaking day in South Carolina!
South Carolina sets one-day record for COVID-19 cases | wltx.com
COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina has set an all-time one day record for coronavirus cases going back to the beginning of the pandemic.
South Carolina's health agency, DHEC, released the latest data Friday afternoon which showed 2,470 new cases. That breaks the previous high mark of 2,322 set back on July 18.
It was an alarming jump that seems to signal South Carolina has now moved into a new peak of cases that may rival the one seen in the summer. The Friday number is nearly 700 more cases than the previous day.
DHEC acknowledged the seriousness of the numbers in a statement saying they are in an 'all-hands-on-deck' situation.
"It’s clear that our state and nation are at a pivotal point in this pandemic," DHEC wrote.

That is depressing-- so we have a lot of know-nothing kids out there- do they get all their "knowledge" from social media platforms?
Your going to be hearing a record is being broken every day for quite awhile. And your deaths in SC aren't projected in one model to peak until December 22 or afterwards perhaps...

Upon a cursory scan of today’s outbreak data, both state and national, it gives me great sadness to see all the nursing home and assisted living facilities affected. As we know these have been prime targets since the beginning, but I was hoping we would somehow be able to get these under control. These poor elderly folks, they have gone nowhere, done nothing, and they’re still getting hammered. Our elderly population has been slaughtered by this virus. I am in tears over it. Seems they are losing this battle. With increased and exponential community transmission, the chances of the workers who care for them are also more at risk, and likely to being the virus in. I’m also assuming there are also staffing issues, etc. in some places, so some elderly may not be getting the standard of care needed.
So many of our elderly are only victim of their circumstances, which is being in a home. We have the option to remain in our homes and be safe, but these people do not - they are being infected in their own residences, so powerlessly. It’s devastating and heartbreaking to see. How I wish they could be better protected.
I am really sad about this.
People got mad here when they kept extending it month after month. Made them think it would magically go away in 30 days or a miracle would happen. Tell the public a realistic time frame so people can know what’s ahead and deal with it.
He can certainly ask, but without consequences or people to enforce it - will those that didn’t vote for him bother to listen and actually do it?
