My state’s head medical officer, Dr Thomas Dobbs, received the vaccine on FB Live earlier today. There are now photos of it on the MS Dept of Health FB page. The nurse giving him the shot is not wearing gloves and there are over 1,500 comments about the no glove situation. Many are saying “fake news” “no gloves, no shot”.

We can’t win for losing here in the Deep South!

The first shipments of Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine has arrived in Massachusetts, and hospitals are preparing to start administering the first vaccines this week.

The VA Bedford Healthcare System's shipment of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine arrived Monday morning and the facility began to administer doses within a few hours.

Margaret Klessens, a 96-year-old resident of the Community Living Center in the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford, received the shot Monday at 12:07 p.m., the VA Bedford Healthcare System announced in a statement. A staff member was vaccinated 13 minutes later.

Couple Who Played Santa and Mrs. Claus Test Positive for COVID-19 After Taking Photos with Children — People

“Two people who recently played Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus at a holiday celebration in Georgia have tested positive for COVID-19, possibly exposing dozens to the novel coronavirus.

The unidentified pair were diagnosed with coronavirus on Saturday, two days after appearing in a Christmas parade in Ludowici and taking photos with roughly 50 children following a tree-lighting ceremony, according to officials.

Robert Parker, the chairman of the Long County Board of Commissioners, said in a statement on its website that the duo "were not displaying any symptoms at the time of the event."

"While this event was not put on by the City of Ludowici or the Long County Board of Commissioners, it was well attended by our public officials and I believe I speak for the majority of them in saying that we still stand by the decision of the Chamber to move forward with these holiday traditions and to bring some sense of normalcy to these trying times," he said.”

Parker added that his own kids took photos with Santa and said "no children were forced to attend the events and that choice was left solely in the hands of their parent."

"I have personally known both 'Santa' and 'Mrs. Claus' my entire life and I can assure everyone that they would have never knowingly done anything to place any children in danger," he continued.“

Public officials still don’t understand that people without symptoms spread Covid?
Or refuse to believe it?
Or going to do these public holiday events no matter how many people die every day?

Our Year 12 students got their final exam results today.
Despite the pandemic, lockdowns, school closures, online learning, the same proportion of them passed as last year ...... they did really well.

Meanwhile, a worldwide pandemic didn't stop more than 15,000 students from completing their South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) in 2020.

A total of 15,119 students completed their SACE, the same proportion of students as 2019.
Of this, 1271 merit certificates were awarded to 1018 students across the state.

Education Minister John Gardner congratulated the Class of 2020 on their achievements.
"I am delighted for each of the 15,119 students who have achieved their SACE in 2020," Minister Gardner said.
"Despite all of the challenges that they have faced through the COVID-19 pandemic, students have focused on their learning and their determination and hard work has truly paid off," he said.
Tom's efforts result in 99.15 score

"With the support of the SACE Board, schools and educators have been able to support their students and I commend our educators on doing such an amazing job through a challenging year."
"We have worked together and held the line on the rigour of learning in the SACE and I am so proud that the SACE of 2020 will stand up against any other year, past or future."

Head of White House security office has his right foot amputated because of severe COVID-19 and is facing 'staggering medical bills,' new report says

  • The head of the White House security office, Crede Bailey, had a part of his lower right leg and the big toe of his left foot amputated because of COVID-19, Bloomberg reported on Monday.

  • Bailey has been hospitalized with a severe case of COVID-19 for three months but is said to be recovering.

  • Friends of Bailey's have raised over $35,000 through a ******** campaign to help pay for his rehabilitation and "staggering" healthcare costs.

Why doesn't he have health insurance that picks up the costs over his deductible? I thought insurers were on the hook for that through the PPACA rules.

Such distrust of government and leaders! I don't see any quick fix for that. This distrust has been ongoing for decades, and some of it is well-earned, because the government took part in studies and experiments that harmed people.

We need a strong national public service message that touches people emotionally, but so far...nothing comes close. So, the conspiracies continue to circulate.

If we don't earn those people's trust, it's going to be hard to put this virus to bed.

That's good to hear. US students are not doing as well, unfortunately, from what I understand. We have a large segment of students who struggle and no parents are home to help them with their remote studies. Some have no access to the internet although efforts have been made to give those children hotspots.

The local schools go back and forth between in-school and at-home learning, and right now my nephew (grand nephew, actually) who was diagnosed last Friday is doing at-home learning again. His whole family is quarantined and my niece (his mother), who is a nurse, is helping him and his sister with their studies. She says they're not receiving good instruction through the school, but she supplements--she's kind of a slave-driver--with additional studies. Other children, sadly, don't have mothers like that.

The only thing that's going to save us is widespread vaccination, in my opinion.

Same question here. How can he not have insurance. Something weird here.

Oh great Ron, just keep putting the citizens of Florida in jeopardy...

DeSantis said Florida will receive less of the supply than what was initially anticipated, so he came up with a possible way to stretch out the state’s inoculations.

Instead of giving two doses, as recommended by the pharmaceutical manufacturer, to high-risk populations such as nursing home residents and front-line hospital workers, perhaps one dose could do, the Governor suggested Friday.

Gov. DeSantis suggests one dose of Pfizer vaccine may be enough

The hospital my sister works in NC had nurses wanting the vaccine to sign up and she hasn't been told when her turn is. She thinks maybe alphabetical would make sense to keeping track of all. But those who haven't signed up earlier are excluded.
