When You’ve Been Fully Vaccinated

How to Protect Yourself and Others

COVID-19 Vaccination

Choosing Safer Activities

(BBM)
  • If you are fully vaccinated, you can resume activities that you did prior to the pandemic.
  • Fully vaccinated people can resume activities without wearing a mask or physically distancing, except where required by federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules, and regulations, including local business and workplace guidance.
  • If you haven’t been vaccinated yet, find a vaccine.

That's a wonderful incentive for doing what folks should be doing anyway.

Yes, and it makes people feel included and puts a positive spin on getting vaccinated. I'm a true believe in the "you catch more bees with honey," as opposed to strong-arm legislation. I think it's so much more effective in the long run. I'm so happy seeing these kinds of incentives!

I guess the point is that it is sad that people have to be incentivised to have a pandemic-stopping vaccine. That common sense cannot prevail. That helping to stop a pandemic is not enough incentive already.

I get why this has to be done. But it just makes some of us shake our heads.

Very sad for many Anstralian-Indian dual citizens trying to get out of India to safety.

We resumed our repatriation flights, and the first flight to come from India could only come half full as so many of the booked passengers tested positive prior to being able to get on the plane.

But he said the flight would serve a “double blessing” as it was carrying vital medical supplies to India as well as bringing Australians home.
Australia's first India repatriation flight is set to arrive half empty

New York Yankees say 8 vaccinated members tested positive for Covid-19. Here's how that could happen - CNN
More at link
Eight members of the New York Yankees have tested positive for coronavirus this week despite being inoculated with the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, the baseball team said Thursday.

The eight infected Yankees include coaches, staff members and a player. Seven do not have symptoms, said Jason Zillo, the team's vice president of communications.
The Yankees who got the virus were asymtomatic. I think we can live with the virus if we get it and not experience any symptoms.

If you have no symptoms, you will not end up dead or in the hospital. You could still spread it, but less likely if you're not coughing....and if people you spread it to are vaccinated, even if they get it, they will not get sick and they could possibly be asymtomic too.

The only reason they even know about it is because of extensive testing within the franchise - otherwise the players wouldn't even know they had it.

I'm not particularly worried about this situation, tbh. In fact, it seems like this is our goal with the vaccines - to keep people out of the hospital and morgue.

"a chance to win a million dollars if you have a vaccine" "a chance to win tickets to a game if you have a vaccine"

Meanwhile there are people around the world who are begging for vaccines. Like India.

America first.

Interesting as to not expousing whether or not folks who have had the two shots and two weeks will be allowed to play, and / or what happens with those who had close contact. Missed opportunity for education and clarification to others who don't understand as we do on WS as to difference?

It does send a message does it not. Understand and with ya on that. SMH.

More to say, but best to sit on hands with a sour taste in my mouth vs. chancing to go on a WS vacay (no gas here, so ... just saying that stuff like this is why the world perceives the US ... darn... *slaps hands*)

As an American and NYCer, I am concerned with local issues, while at the same time, aware of the tragedies happening elsewhere in the world. I want to be aware of other places. Please understand that the concern for the entire world is heartfelt, even as I post about USA or specific states and cities within USA. My concern for local happenings does not imply that I am not also concerned for other places or that I don't understand the connections.

As an American, there is nothing I want more than to be a generous leader we like to think ourselves as being and helping other countries to the absolutely best of our capabilities. To not help is shameful.

On a local topic:

"On Thursday, the governors of Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, North Carolina, and Virginia, and the mayors of New York City and Washington, D.C., all Democrats, said they were taking the new guidance from the C.D.C. under advisement before adopting it. In deference to local authorities, the C.D.C. said vaccinated people must continue to abide by existing state, local, or tribal laws and regulations, and follow local rules for businesses and workplaces.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo of New York said that the state had “always relied on the facts and the science to guide us throughout the worst of this pandemic” and that he would review the new federal guidelines with the state Health Department and health experts in neighboring states. Mayor Bill de Blasio of New York City called the shift in guidance “a monumental day in the fight against Covid” but said the city would be reviewing the new rules “as masks will still be important for schools, public transportation, doctors offices and more.”

“The message is clear,” he added. “Vaccinations are the way to bring our city, our lives, back.”

In North Carolina, a spokeswoman for Gov. Roy Cooper echoed that idea, but said that an indoor mask mandate would remain in effect while state health officials reviewed the recommendations.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health said “the county and the state will review the recommendations in order to make sensible adjustments.” On Wednesday, Gov. Gavin Newsom of California said the state would eliminate its outdoor mask mandates on June 15, when the state plans to fully reopen."

bbm

Some states lift mask mandates for vaccinated people, while others greet the new C.D.C. guidance with caution.

“Dr. Peter Hotez said Tuesday that the optics of having to incentivize the Covid vaccine do not put the U.S. in a positive light to the rest of the world.

"When people are clamoring for vaccines in India and in Brazil, it just makes us look like a nation of sulky adolescents. … So if it's absolutely necessary, sure, although it's tough to swallow," said Hotez, who is the dean for the National School of Tropical Medicine at the Baylor College of Medicine.

A recent survey from UCLA showed that roughly one-third of unvaccinated people said a $100 cash payment would make them more likely to get a shot.”

Thank goodness we are finally done with mask wearing and social distancing for the vaccinated population. It’s about time!

If a person can still get/transmit COVID after the vaccinations, I dont know why everyone is in such a hurry to be finally done with masking and social distancing.

If we want this pandemic to end or at least be controllable, we still need to be very vigilant after full vaccination.

This vaccine is NOT like smallpox, diphtheria etc, once you've had the shots you're free and clear.

This is a whole new ballgame where will likely need ongoing boosters or it will be declared to be endemic to certain areas. ie You just accept that if you live there, a certain number of people will perish every year as they do from pneumonia, the flu etc.

If a segment of Americans didn't wear masks to protect their neighbors and won't get a vaccine either....telling them about people in India and Brazil will likely not move them either. Do what works to get Americans to take the shot and work on efforts to get the shot everywhere in the world.

It seems we didn't learn that telling our kids to eat their vegetables because there are starving kids elsewhere doesn't work. Do what works for each group. Don't berate the well-fed kid and don't deprive the starving kid. Both.

Fun? on a COVID thread?
Please don't find offense with a heartfelt YEARNING for people to get the dang shot.

p.s. I am offended that post after post after post I have been here adovoating for science and cooperation to end the spread, and then people jump on my support for any effort to convince people to get the vaccination like I'm a callous idiot.

I think what is likely going to happen is that people will get vaccinated and be protected (not get seriously ill or require hospitalisation) and the unvaccinated will suffer whatever consequences their lack of vaccination brings to them.

Then the ones we will have to worry about will be the small children, until we can find a vaccine for them.

I see articles that speak of vaccinated adults still needing to protect their whole young family, so they continue to wear masks and take all precautions. They know they won't get especially sick themselves, but they don't want to transmit to their young families.

I think it tells a lot about people in Ohio, since their chance of catching, or even dying of Covid is far, far higher than their chance of winning this lottery.

I wonder how they are going to incentivise them to have their 2nd shot. Can they only enter the lottery after they prove they have had both shots?
And when a booster shot is due, what will they do then?
