That's a wonderful incentive for doing what folks should be doing anyway.
Yes, and it makes people feel included and puts a positive spin on getting vaccinated. I'm a true believe in the "you catch more bees with honey," as opposed to strong-arm legislation. I think it's so much more effective in the long run. I'm so happy seeing these kinds of incentives!

Eight members of the New York Yankees have tested positive for coronavirus this week despite being inoculated with the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, the baseball team said Thursday.
The eight infected Yankees include coaches, staff members and a player. Seven do not have symptoms, said Jason Zillo, the team's vice president of communications.
Money well spent, imo.Yes, and it makes people feel included and puts a positive spin on getting vaccinated. I understand."a chance to win a million dollars if you have a vaccine" "a chance to win tickets to a game if you have a vaccine"
Meanwhile there are people around the world who are begging for vaccines. Like India.
America first.

If you have no symptoms, you will not end up dead or in the hospital. You could still spread it, but less likely if you're not coughing....and if people you spread it to are vaccinated, even if they get it, they will not get sick and they could possibly be asymtomic too.
The only reason they even know about it is because of extensive testing within the franchise - otherwise the players wouldn't even know they had it.
I'm not particularly worried about this situation, tbh. In fact, it seems like this is our goal with the vaccines - to keep people out of the hospital and morgue.

Thank goodness we are finally done with mask wearing and social distancing for the vaccinated population. It’s about time!

If a segment of Americans didn't wear masks to protect their neighbors and won't get a vaccine either....telling them about people in India and Brazil will likely not move them either. Do what works to get Americans to take the shot and work on efforts to get the shot everywhere in the world.https://www.cnbc.com/2021/05/04/covid-vaccine-incentives-make-us-look-bad-doctor-says.html
“Dr. Peter Hotez said Tuesday that the optics of having to incentivize the Covid vaccine do not put the U.S. in a positive light to the rest of the world.
"When people are clamoring for vaccines in India and in Brazil, it just makes us look like a nation of sulky adolescents. … So if it's absolutely necessary, sure, although it's tough to swallow," said Hotez, who is the dean for the National School of Tropical Medicine at the Baylor College of Medicine.
A recent survey from UCLA showed that roughly one-third of unvaccinated people said a $100 cash payment would make them more likely to get a shot.”
Please don't find offense with a heartfelt YEARNING for people to get the dang shot.Fun? on a COVID thread?
If a person can still get/transmit COVID after the vaccinations, I dont know why everyone is in such a hurry to be finally done with masking and social distancing.
If we want this pandemic to end or at least be controllable, we still need to be very vigilant after full vaccination.
This vaccine is NOT like smallpox, diphtheria etc, once you've had the shots you're free and clear.
This is a whole new ballgame where will likely need ongoing boosters or it will be declared to be endemic to certain areas. ie You just accept that if you live there, a certain number of people will perish every year as they do from pneumonia, the flu etc.
I think it tells a lot about people in Ohio, since their chance of catching, or even dying of Covid is far, far higher than their chance of winning this lottery.I guess the point is that it is sad that people have to be incentivised to have a pandemic-stopping vaccine. That common sense cannot prevail. That helping to stop a pandemic is not enough incentive already.
I get why this has to be done. But it just makes some of us shake our heads.
