Yes - we have more cases per 100,000 people right now.
No - because the vaccination rollout is clipping right along with a far higher rate of compliance than in the US. A couple of weeks ago the BBC published a little video of two women discussing the vaccination rollouts, one from Canada, and one from the US. The Canadian was bemoaning the problem that so few had been vaccinated in Canada. By the time the video was published, Canada was leading the US in the number of first vaccinations administered. Canada isn't slowing down yet, but the US seems to have stalled.
Maybe - Canada has more cases than the US, but few Canadians, and some Americans don't have confidence in the US reporting of Covid cases. The Canada Public Health Agency is a highly effective, publicly funded public health system with the sole focus on public health, and is at arm's length from any political interference. If there is a positive case, it gets reported. People in Canada have a high level of confidence in the Canadian reporting system. Some of us are not as sure about the US mode of reporting cases. So maybe Canada has more cases, or maybe not.
