Do you have peer reviewed articles and proper stats rather than 'what I have seen'?

What you have seen is very subjective and definitely does not represent the whole of Canada.

Yes, as I mentioned, this is my personal experience. However, each Public Health District publishes detailed data about the vaccination rollout in their region, so depending upon where you are, and what data is collected and published, you may be able to read locally reported answers to specific questions.

Is the 'Canadian situation' worse than the US situation in regard to covid?

Yes, no, and maybe.

Yes - we have more cases per 100,000 people right now.

No - because the vaccination rollout is clipping right along with a far higher rate of compliance than in the US. A couple of weeks ago the BBC published a little video of two women discussing the vaccination rollouts, one from Canada, and one from the US. The Canadian was bemoaning the problem that so few had been vaccinated in Canada. By the time the video was published, Canada was leading the US in the number of first vaccinations administered. Canada isn't slowing down yet, but the US seems to have stalled.

Maybe - Canada has more cases than the US, but few Canadians, and some Americans don't have confidence in the US reporting of Covid cases. The Canada Public Health Agency is a highly effective, publicly funded public health system with the sole focus on public health, and is at arm's length from any political interference. If there is a positive case, it gets reported. People in Canada have a high level of confidence in the Canadian reporting system. Some of us are not as sure about the US mode of reporting cases. So maybe Canada has more cases, or maybe not.

Two Royal Caribbean cruise passengers test positive for Covid-19 (nbcnews.com)

The guests on the cruise operator's Celebrity Millennium ship were "asymptomatic and currently in isolation and being monitored by our medical team," officials said.

Two passengers on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship tested positive for Covid-19, officials said Thursday.

Celebrity Millennium, which is part of Celebrity Cruises owned by the Royal Caribbean Group, was the first cruise ship to sail out of North America since the coronavirus pandemic began in 2020, Celebrity Cruises said in a news release.

"Today two guests sharing a stateroom onboard Celebrity Millennium tested positive for Covid-19 while conducting the required end of cruise testing," the cruise line company said. "The individuals are asymptomatic and currently in isolation and being monitored by our medical team."...

From what I have seen, it's actually very rare for a person to miss their second shot. We see about 2% of people missing their first shot, but almost no one misses their second. That's an odd and unexpected finding.

2%? Precisely how does one not know if they had their first shot or not? That doesn't make any sense to me.

I read it as 2% of people possibly being no shows for their first jab appointment.

But as has been stated, I haven't seen any link for this. I may have missed it, though.

I think OP meant about 2% of people don't go for their first shot, not that they don't remember it. If they never had it, it makes sense that they wouldn't remember it.

Where I live it's a lot more than 2% that haven't gone for their first shot. Our county still averages about four cases a day. Sussex county NJ, which is close to us, apparently has 7 new cases a day. Imo

In a large, metropolitan area, you dont see the same numbers as OP has stated.

In the Greater Toronto Area, we have a lot of people still getting appointments for first shots and many areas where people just do not want to be vaccinated.

I think approx. 10% have had both shots, out of 3/4 million people.

I’m not sure where to ask this question:

Have any WebSleuthers passed away from Covid?
I ask because I went to look for someone whom I had had many conversations with since joining, and I cannot seem to find them.

if my question isn’t in the right place, please move it to the appropriate section.

So we have been importing all of our flu? Considering that we don't (usually) wear masks and live pretty normally, I wouldn't have expected this two years in a row.

Over 800 flu deaths in 2019, 40 in 2020 - so far in 2021, zero flu deaths.

Our doctors are all incorporating flu shots in our covid shot regime, though. My dr had me do my first covid shot, then my flu shot, then my 2nd covid shot. And friends of mine are telling me their drs are doing similar.

The only time I've had the flu, in the past 10 years, is when I contracted it on an airplane flight.

It's true that after that, I resumed getting flu shots (it was the year before COVID, so yep, I followed advice and got a flu shot before I got my COVID vaccine).

It's great that the flu is so limited this year and I wonder how Australia will proceed, going forward. I bet the US goes back to having flu season again. But maybe, just maybe, it will be a bit better (I sure will be getting my shots in future).

Highly-contagious Indian variant could be the dominant strain of COVID in the US within a WEEK | Daily Mail Online

Uh-oh-according to this article the highly contagious indian variant could be the dominant strain this coming week in the United States and the bad news is that 30% of fully vaccinated people out of 42 died in the UK

From the article:

//Research shows that the Covid vaccines are largely effective against the Delta strain, but only after a second dose of the Pfizer and Moderna jabs. //

Chances of dying are virtually nil if vaccinated with the two mRNA vaccines (but it is more transmissible, so the chances of getting it and spreading it are higher).

Moderna plans a booster (probably this fall), and I think Pfizer is as well. Both can use the same technology to add this variant's spike proteins to the existing vaccine...

Actually, HIPAA doesn't apply to anyone but healthcare providers (and some related healthcare entities like insurers). Which is why employers can ask if you've been vaccinated.

How do people feel about sharing their workspace with a possible unvaccinated and asymptmatic person(s)?
And how do they feel about having their restaurant food prepared and served by a possible unvaccinated and asymptomatic person(s)?

Are you hearing any feedback yet? I wonder if there will be lawsuits if the worst happens.

So far, it seems to me that if you are vaccinated, you are at minimal risk for catching Covid. And, people have a choice, no one has to go out to eat, and people can wear a mask anywhere.

I am vaccinated, and still wear my mask. Especially at work.

The way I see it, this is only limiting the freedom of the people who do the right thing - they can always eat at home, wear masks, consistently socially distance, not go to crowded events .....
And allowing the freedom of those who don't do the right thing to get rid of this pandemic.

Which I think is very unfair.

Excellent post. Although, I doubt we will ever get the True numbers of deaths from any country.
I am happy to chirp in that my dear old 87 years young dad in Alberta has had both shots and is spending a week with my sister and her 4 children.
It's been 14 months since he and his wife have left their home.
Here in California, we are set tomorrow to open up.
I pray that we're eradicating this virus.
As a restaurant owner in California, Covid-19 has wrecked hell on our business.
I cannot wait to hear... It's OVER !!!
