Maybe his moderna worked.Probably. I was surprised that my husband didn't catch it.
And more good news for those of us who got the Pfizer vaccine.
Source: The Jerusalem Post
The effectiveness of the Pfizer vaccine against the Delta variant is “weaker” than health officials hoped, Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said Friday, as 855 people tested positive for coronavirus and more countries were listed as places of high infection.
“We do not know exactly to what degree the vaccine helps, but it is significantly less,” Bennett said.
The prime minister held a meeting of top health officials and ministers to discuss the next steps for managing the virus in light of the numbers in Israel and what Bennett described as “the Delta mutation leaping forward around the world, including in vaccinated countries such as Britain, Israel and the US.”
He said that “Britain, in recent days, we have seen a jump in the number of children who are being hospitalized on a daily basis. This is a development that we are aware of; we are dealing with it rationally and responsibly.”
'Pfizer COVID vaccine significantly less effective against Delta variant'
Which vaccine did he have?
Moderna. Same as @303gmf. So, maybe it was just a bad cold. I made it to work every day, but went home early 2 days.
That whole...don't go to work sick...doesn't work, there are so few people working now...
It is kind of weird, though, that your husband didn't catch it--seeing as you live in the same house.
I have been fully vaccinated since April, Pfizer. Last month, I had a "Summer Cold", that I didn't even think about getting a Covid test for, after all, I am vaccinated.
My husband, who had Moderna, did not catch my "Summer Cold".
I was coughing, hacking, exhausted, diarrhea, sneezing, massive migraines. Lasted about 2 weeks. I wonder if it was a variant? I see a lot of people every day...

Ahh, so sorry you are sick, but good it's not Covid. Get well soon ((dixiegirl)). Big giant hugs to you.My venture of COVID like illness is too exhausting, but will try to document here. Cascade of events for sure.
Symptoms started Monday, July 5th night. Coughing/mucus/ throwing up (I throw up as I get grossed out by bringing up plegm) and generally feeling ill as heck. NOTE: I used to get at least once a year due to allergies in my yard kicking up, and these are cascading reactions that mirror COVID due to my COPD iykwim. I knew exactly what was happening.
I have new doc this year due to going with Kaiser.. so when I did a video visit on Thursday to get Augmentin and steroid pack (5,4,3,2,1 type package) with a random doc finally after 3 days in bed coughing/sick/100.2 temp/phlegm /headache etc...they wouldn't give me what I needed until I went in and got chest xrays and doc visit days later. They said they needed to check for COVID. I was grrrrr, I live alone and no exposures. So contacted them back and next day Friday and asked to do the COVID drive through (25 miles round trip while sick as a dog)... and asked if negative, would they THEN give me my steroids and Augmentin? They said yes, so Friday I get PCR (negative) and then that night finally got started Augmentin and Steroids. The Augmentin made me throw up and dry heave for 2 hours that night. So next day, got Odenesteron for throwing up. By then... this reaction had turned probably into pneumonia. Hell, I probably aspirated those days of throwing up.
Still sick... so this past Wednesday when dead tired and couldn't finish a sentence without stopping to catch my breath, called in and then I got albuteroll and a longer lasting puff steroid ($$$).
Still have rales and rattling 12 days later. This usually take a month to clear.
I'm telling you, it was scary as chit not being able to breathe. How do they even clear out mucus and phlegm when people are on ventilators if they cannot cough and bring it up and out? My oxygen saturation was REALLLLLLLLLLLLLY low one am upon wakening. I've now learned that horizontal and sleeping = lower levels. Also learned that when you wake up coughing, it's probably your body saying WAKE UP, your O2 levels are dangerously low!
Anyhoooooo...... no COVID, but my experience mirrored COVID MOO.
ETA: I started doing those breathing excercises that the guy on the Princess talked about.. at least why I remember he said.. pretended I had a spirometer! (If anyone has at their fingertips his explanation of what to do, please post, TIA)
ETA #2: Back on daily allergy pills, and guffenesin OTC also
@margarita25 , consider this an update for ya!
I’d thought about getting tested but got antibiotics from family’s extra stash instead chalking it all up to infection, others I was around with Moderna vax didn’t catch from me?Moderna. Same as @303gmf. So, maybe it was just a bad cold. I made it to work every day, but went home early 2 days.

I agree 100%.I've been thinking the same thing. Now that virtually all places have lifted the mask mandates, I fear it will be hard to re-implement them.
I think the CDC acted too hastily in advising people to go maskless if they were vaccinated. Almost no one is wearing one, and I know they're not all vaccinated.
I agree 100%.
'Vaccine OR mask' isn't effective against Covid. Vaccine AND Mask is the way to go. Two weapons needed.
-Vaccinated + Mask = A+++, Kudos!
-Vaccinated + Maskless = Risks breakthrough infection and transmission to others.
-Unvaccinated + Mask = IMO, this group can make the biggest difference at this time. So get vaccinated ASAP. If can't for medical reasons, wear an effective mask and take good care of yourself.
-Unvaccinated + Maskless = F-, Shame on you for prolonging the pandamic.
IMO

The Unvaccinated + Mask is a very small group. Maybe 10-20% of the Unvaccinated total.
