I have a troubling question for you all.
6 weeks after hubby's 2nd vaccine (Moderna), he has been crippled with cramps in every part of his body.
My husband Ron, is a very active, fit, 73 year old.
Super healthy eating habits, dedicated to working out everyday.
He is currently crippled to the point that he has to take a pain reliever to even get out of bed.
He cannot even put his shoes on.
He is around a lot of people as he owns a restaurant. He is hearing customers and even his pharmacist ask if he got his second shot.
He is hearing from these people that they themselves, or people they know, are experiencing the same symptoms.
We're about at our wits end. He is so crippled. All, of a sudden.
Any feedback will be appreciated. Sincerely KALI.

I'm slowly getting better. I put together a kitchen island. I'm finally going through stuff from the last 5 months, which is utterly awful. I remember every bit of being sick, of Dad dying, and I sort of remember people being painfully kind, but I keep finding presents and stuff just plopped around the living room.
But oh well, I have been able to make a few nice meals, and hang a lot of laundry, and fix my sidewalk. I hope I become a real girl again someday.

That's a very unusual reaction, six weeks after his second shot. Has he been to his doctor? It's terrible that he's suffering but it may have absolutely nothing at all to do with the vaccine. Is it necessary for him to still be going to the restaurant while he's in pain?

Almost everyone I know who's been vaccinated has had Moderna, including me, and I don't know anyone at all who had a reaction six weeks later.

Hoping for him to be well soon, but my advice is the simple one of seeing the doctor and getting some tests done. It could be as simple as having pulled something while working out, but tests and a work up should give him some idea.

My husband and I (76 and 75) got our first Pfizer shots today and are scheduled for our second one on May 25. So far, only sore arms. We are keeping the week of our second shots free of appointments just in case we have a few bad days. Although we are elated to have gotten our first dose, we will continue taking more precautions than the CDC recommends even after we are fully vaccinated. We do NOT want to get this evil virus again! We live in a rural county in southern Oregon with vaccine resistance and designated at “extreme risk” by the Governor, so I’m not sure if we will reach a safe threshold anytime soon.

As a refresher of my previous posts, both of us were attacked by the virus and tested positive in late January/early February, despite taking obsessive precautions since March. We have no idea how it found us, so it is obviously highly contagious. We both received monoclonal antibody infusions shortly after testing positive. For that reason we were required to wait 90 days for our vaccinations. We could have gotten them Feb 15 otherwise.

I was sicker than my husband and ended up in the hospital with Covid pneumonia for 6 days. Thankfully, my husband realized I was going downhill and called an ambulance…not knowing if he’d ever see me again. My hero! I was in no shape to make that decision. In our Oregon Covid death listings, I read so often of people dying at home and I wonder if they become so ill that they can’t make a decision to seek help until it’s too late. In my case, all’s well that ends well, but I never want to repeat that experience!

@KALI Please make sure your husband consults with his doctor. I did some googling and didn’t find an obvious connection to the vaccine, but his doctor may have more information. Hydration is very important in preventing cramps, so make sure he is drinking plenty of water…hard to do if he’s working, I know.

You mentioned that your husband is working out, and being older can lead to cramping too. Another help for cramps, mainly exercise induced, is somewhat anecdotal, but it might help. Over 20 years ago my husband attended our local high school’s state championship football game. One of the star players kept getting disabling leg cramps. The coach gave him plain Alkaseltzer (non aspirin or Tylenol) and it stopped the cramps! They won the game, by the way. :D I googled to refresh my memory and it is actually used in sports in place of Gatorade.

I hope he gets some relief and answers from his doctor soon!

So glad you and hubby got your jab---- as you point out "the virus found us"-- I think about you often and still wonder how you wound up getting the virus when you and hubby took such strong-obsessive precautions!!!

Here's some motivation to get vaccinated in the state of NJ: :)

New Jersey is launching a “Shot and a Beer” program, which includes a free beer at about a dozen breweries to anyone who gets vaccinated in May. Here is a list of the breweries.

So sorry to hear this Kali. I do hope he improves. I've never read (or heard through Dr. Seheult or Dr. Campbell or Dr. Hansen) what you are describing. 6 weeks out... that's a long time and even if those nasty clots.. would it appear as such all over? It appears that you have spoken to folks who are having the same symptoms so perhaps doctors in your area are familiar with such more than googling. All over cramps makes me think improper hydration, but I would see his doctor ASAP as it could be something that a blood test and a visit could help center on. I hope he goes soon and I wish the best.

Yay! So pleased things have been going well for you and your DH. You're probably super immunized at this point. :)

CDC reviews death of Michigan woman who got Johnson & Johnson vaccine -- everything you should know (clickondetroit.com)

No evidence of rare blood clot after woman’s death, officials say

The Centers For Disease Control and Prevention is currently reviewing the death of a Michigan woman who received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, though there is currently no evidence that her death and the vaccine are linked, officials said.

The Food and Drug Administration recommended pausing the use of the Johnson and & Johnson vaccine for a short time earlier this month as officials investigated a rare instance of blood clots forming in a few women who received the shot...

...The family of Annie VanGeest, 35, of Saranac in Ionia County, released a statement after her death that she died “as the result of complications after receiving the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine.”

Health experts have not yet found any evidence that the vaccine was connected to her death...

Sorry to hear this.

Your husband should get in to see his doctor as soon as possible.

There are a dozen common things that can present this way including a breakthrough infection with Covid.

6 weeks later it is very unlikely this is a vaccine reaction, however, in the world of vaccine reactions, anything is possible.

I'm 71. A few years ago, I was experiencing severe muscle cramping with accompanying dizziness. I eventually ended up in the ER with a scary pounding headache. I was diagnosed with hyponatremia - low sodium. Normal range is 135-145; mine was only 126. Probably best to see a physician, but original V-8 juice helps restore sodium quickly. Pedialyte would work, too, but I prefer V-8 and always have it on hand.

We get jack here :D

(Not counting the hopefully life saving jab that is - hastily added )

I got my second shot at a small hometown pharmacy. During my 15 minute wait after the shot, I browsed the pharmacy and ended up buying two sweet bracelets LOL

I'm not saying This is the cause, because it doesn't seem to be in the area, but this is similar to something I was thinking of that might be Regional? Something that needs to be learned by doctors but is not associated with a vaccine after 6 weeks? Keep a heads up and let us know. Still thinking about him and can't keep him out of my mind and just saw this.

:)

I got both of my injections at a Beaumont Health System facility. After the first injection, I got a button indicating that I had gotten the vaccine. Following the second shot, I got a Beaumont bracelet and a plastic vaccine card sleeve. DH had his shots at Meijer and got nothing.
