Criticism of Law Enforcement unjustified say sources

Weren't they supposed to talk to the High school kids too and then didn't do it???

I still wonder why.....

Weren't they looking to the two girls who were supposed to have been seen with HD when they went to the schools to address the students? And didn't two girls come forward after they went to the middle school?

No Sarx this never sounded like a runaway to me. I think ruling that out had to happen but at the same time LE was chasing down information about could Hailey have agreed to meet with someone she met somewhere via internet, traveling for sports etc., and then been abducted? She certainly would not have left money, shoes, her fav things in her room I personally do not believe, had she decided to run away.

I was thinking more along the lines of meeting an older boy at a sports meet, or even a spectator who she might have shared personal information with. Thus the need to check her belongings, books, notes, to see if she left any clues.

The fact however that they searched the entire school, and other student lockers tells me they already knew that something was seriously wrong. They were looking for any indication that Hailey had been abducted or harmed already IMO.

Can you just imagine, if any of the officers that went to the house, to get the report from Billie, about Hailey, were the same ones dealing with, just 6 mo. ago, Billie calling in that her boy friend threatened her and Hailey's dad's life?
Got to the house and found Shawn there as the last one to see Hailey.
That had of been a WTF thought in their minds.
No wonder these poor LE officers didn't know which way to turn, but it sounds to me like they were handling every aspect, even though the press, did not know everything that was being done.

It starts at the last paragraph on page 5 from that link Sarx.

Thank you ~ I'm too blind to be reading these documents! I skimmed it twice and couldn't see it.

Duh, now I remember reading that. For my purposes in the SAR portion of this I tend to shove those things on the back burner. So, that was done on the third day after she was reported missing.
I guess the real question is, what was done in the first 24 hours? For a MP case, these are the crucial hours.

Just a side note on the martial arts thing. As someone who is very close to that world and knows several 1st and 2nd degree black belt teens I can honestly say that having that belt does not mean they couldn't be overpowered easily. The training and belt doesn't necessarily give them the sense to use it when faced with a real situation at that age, we've had it happen and were stunned.
I heard Clint's comment about martial arts training and I'm pretty sure it was an extreme exaggeration. Sounded to me like Clint was just talking about Hailey messing around with her brother, doing stuff they had seen on TV during UFC matches. Clint has also talked about training himself and DD just recently taking his first class so I wouldn't put any stock in Hailey really knowing how to defend herself.

Unfortunately she had already been missing more than 24 hours when LE heard about it...

Doesn't that just apply to the first 24 hours that someone is missing? In this case the family didn't report her for 48 hours, and that's not really the fault of the police.

Is there a timeline somewhere? I have thoroughly confused myself.

We can't confirm or deny how long it was, so we can't say that it was 48 hours. 24 hours, yes. And yes, those are a critical 24 hours, but so were the next ones when LE came in. Sorry, I don't think I'm making any sense today. Going back to maps and tunnels.

I'm not sure if we're allowed to link it here but BeanE has done a fabulous timeline. You can find it if you google Case Signal Hailey Dunn.

Hailey's brother said she was in the living room on the night of the 26th, BD allegedly saw her in bed that morning but didn't go in and make sure she was okay, then no one spoke to her all day on the 27th except allegedly SA at 3:15 when she left the house. She was gone that night and only found to be missing on the 28th.

The sleepover (that never happened) caused the delay in reporting her missing. Just too "convenient" for my taste.

ETA: Even if we go with SA's story that she walked out at 3:15, there's still almost 24 missing hours from the time she left until BD reported her missing the next day at 2 p.m.

At this point, with all the twisted stories by BD & SA, personally I'm going with DD and the 9 PM siting on the 26th as the last time seen.

It was about 24 hours at the least, if we believe SA.

This article was written based from what the school principal thinks.

With an extra side of Kempfer.

It was after this public criticism that Kampfer decided he needed to take on the role of informing the public, as much as he could, about what law enforcement was doing concerning the case

It is good to know they searched the lockers and looked for anyone who could be connected to Hailey. Now if Kempfer could clear up his conflicting statements and explain a few details that hit the media maybe we could come to the same conclusion that the principle has. IMO.

Not to mention this was a mute point after the child porn in the public aspect so they have people under a stunned spell and then go to press with this?

I am also annoyed about the fact the spokes person said he was avoiding knowing details so he would not have to answer questions.

I also saw report the did not talk to the neighbors until the 6th. SW should have went out as soon as Billie and SA showed up on drugs at the office to interveiw because they were admittedly on drugs they admitted on the 28th to buying them on the 27th.

There is the probable cause they failed to act on first. Right there in the critical time.

Still they havent issued a warrent to search relatives property they have child porn from the relatives pc Probable cause again.

What time was LE called on the 28th again?

Sarx - do you mean what time did BD go to the CCPD to file a missing person report?

It was around 2-ish.

2 pm Is when BD according to her timeline went to the police station. At 3 she returned to wait on an officer to take a full report.

For sure BD and SA were not known to very many Mitchell County residents , keep in mind LE were very familiar with these players , so IMO that is why SA was named a suspect early on. We learned from the 911 calls back in Feb. that LE was fed up with them and their various ploys and schemes. I am hoping someday soon we will all know just what all they had been up to( how it could get much worse I am not sure) and see some country justice served up on a silver platter.
