Just a thought...

At yesterday newser they said someone had opened a valve and that caused the fire alarm. Perhaps the killer thought he/she would be getting a gush of water and instead got steam. If so, that would help cops with thier timeline.

Hi Sariebell, it is just the most sad situation. I think we have to look at it as a kiss from beyond the grave that her lover would learn she has been found on this their wedding day. It could have gone on for some time. Hopefully having her body will help him and her family heal a bit sooner. xox

You are right, Scandi. At least her finace and their would-be combined family can have closure on this day. I just can't imagine how much it must hurt to have such violence visited upon your loved ones on such a monumental day in your life. That poor young man who will carry this pain for the rest of his life. May he some day find love and happiness...

Did someone post a news update upthread that said a police truck was backed into the basement area that contained the lab?

Our basement here at home is finished, but not waterproofed. It is an older building and the basement walls get damp, so the drywall was placed 6 inches or so away from the cement block foundation walls. Other homes in our neighborhood have even more space between the foundation and drywall in finished basements. Enough for a child or small adult to walk through.

Our drywall walls also don't go up all the way. There is a space between the ceiling and the top of the drywall, where our children have accidentally thrown toys. They are lost forever in the cavity between the cement block and drywall.

I wonder if the basement in 10 Amistad was finished similarly, where there was ceiling access to a hidden area between the foundation and the wall. Someone as light as Annie probably wouldn't be difficult for a strong person to lift, particularly if they stood on a table or counter.

Poor Annie and poor Jonathan. What a nightmare.
thank you JenB! You are right! Iirc, the clothing was found in the basement.. and that is where most of the activity has been today. I am just making a guess that the remains were also found in the basement wall and what you just said about your own basement makes tons of sense. The cavity behind the wall could have been "noticed" by the perp while hiding the clothing in the ceiling... and easily accessible with use of a chair to stand on.

I have to say, someone would have to really have intimate knowledge of that lab to know where to hide her body so quickly. I think it is a classmate or someone that worked in the lab with her.

so so sad for this beautiful young woman...

I mentioned this before, but I'm hoping LE can identify the owner of the bloody clothes by looking at the video tapes of those who entered the building.

wow.... this really had to have been someone who knew that building WELL! I mean putting things in the ceiling and the walls???
Yes, I do believe it's somebody who knows it too well.

Is it possible there could be a camera near the area that they found her? Or do you think the person that thought all this through did something to destroy the camera first?

Okay, back to sleuthing...

Per Labrat and our lab experts, there has been speculation that Annie was working with her animals Tuesday and the animal facility would probably be located in the basement. Would the animal area be kinda smelly and mask the scent of a decomposing body?

It would be a loving touch if she could wear her happy beautiful wedding dress for her funeral. Everyone said how much she loved it and wanted to get married........so very sad and so young and brilliant!

This is ridiculously sad. I've been following crime/missing person cases for awhile now but I've never seen one like this. This was supposed to be her wedding day, which makes it even sadder. My heart is breaking for her family, her fiancee, her friends, and all those that loved her. :rose: Rest in Peace Annie. Praying for justice.

Isn't it sad, I have a niece her age that got married Friday and yesterday she was on Facebook gushing about marrying her "wonderful husband" and changing her last name on her profile. Sadly this will never happen for Annie Le, this is beyond sad.

My husband graduated from Yale, and he says he has never been in that exact lab building..but in the lab building he was in the animal area smells were always contained. He said it smelled sort of like a freezer down there (extremely cold temperatures and that "freezer smell"..not sure what he means). He said it was always very sanitary, and no animal smells were present.

You would think there would've been damage to the wall and that LE would've looked there first if it was recent damage.

It is a huge bldg - 100,000 sq ft I think. Possibly there was a space behind a wall the perp knew about and she was dropped into it.

I hope we learn everything about how she was discovered. It must have been kind of a fluke as I thought they were all still all out at the incinerator center sorting thru bags. It could have been a Monk type investigator who noticed something just a bit askew, had a feeling and called for a dog.

More to come. Not identified yet. Three guesses.

Tks for that!!!

Thanks, Kaylynn. I know the freezer smell and was leaning toward a very sterile environment, but wondering why they didn't start to smell her body. I have heard that decomp starts to present odor almost immediately. Perhaps the cool temps held that off for a couple of days.

this is one of the saddest cases ive heard. RIP annie. the world has lost a beautiful and intelligent woman who could have contributed so much. my thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones in this unimaginably difficult time.

I also believe the animals would be in the basement. When tropical storm Allison flooded downtown houston it flooded the basement of Baylor College of Med. My husband was there working on the elevators and they had to wear suits due to the dead animals and smell in the basement.

not sure how bad it would smell in there

In the Forensic Astrology forum, Tuba wrote on 9/11:

If the incident occurred at all and was later but before 1:00 p.m., she is at ground level in a dark place and may be contained.
