If he works in the building then he expected to remove her body later. He couldn't expect her to remain hidden for much longer because of decomposition smells,...I think

I don;t think the perp could have anticipated how big this got! Once the story DID get out it exploded quickly! The building was filled with LE from then on.

Geraldo is reporting on this now. Directv channel 360

From Geraldo, The body was found in a 'chase', or false wall in the basement in the area where she was working.

I'm still thinking it's someone who has had more contact with her than a maintenance worker and knew in advance she'd be in the lab at that time. MOO
However, she was very schedule oriented. People would see her coming and going daily about the same time, imo. If they were watching her or working with her...they could probably set their watch literally by her schedule on any given day. When doing experiments, isn't time rigidly controlled?

CNN is saying that they're still working on getting her out of the wall, that they're having trouble getting her out. I wonder how in the world she's positioned in that wall?

The problem is like Lab mentioned earlier. There are many people who disregard those fire alarms and do not leave so it may not help them much to find their killer.

True, but it may narrow it down some. Check the videos of folk exiting for the fire alarm vs those who were still in the building according to their security log.

HOWEVER... if it was a "hit" job, then the perp could've been let in by someone else.

I'd be interested to know, too, if you use your card just to gain physical entrance to the bldg and certain rooms, therefore making it standard practice to just open the door and let a colleague or two in with you. OR, if there is a strict security protocol in place whereby each and every person is supposed to swipe in/out.

My post from late friday night:

Does anybody remember the story form NY where a cleaning woman was missing from her lower Manhattan building. She too was a small women. It took about 48 hours to find her duct-taped and hidden in an elevator shaft. I hate to think it -- but I think the lack of video of her leaving the building is ominous. Tampering with a security camera doesn't cut it for me. And I just don't believe this change of clothes thing. Why go to the lab to do it where more people are going to see you?

Rumours
Fellow student failed poly.
Fellow student seen dumping something in incinerator.

Sounds like some place a maintenance worker would know about.

I agree SS. Given what Nurse outlined above, I think we are probably looking at a crime commited by someone that worked in that bldg, not neccesarily a fellow student. She was found in the basement, behind a wall correct?
Sounds likely.
It may be hard to identify the killer just from video of who went in the building before Annie was there, but I'd bet the killer booked it out of that building after the murder. Hopefully a camera caught a view of him/her.

That must mean she was dropped into the wall from the top.

Because they have to now convince students and parents the campus is still safe and play CYA. They have a murderer who had access to one of the most secure areas on their campus. Bad bad press for Yale officials.

Sorry to be so cynical, but I don't care for the way this investigation was handled and I feel it is because of it being at Yale.

Yes indeed SS.

I ran this through my head very quickly, please forgive if it's sloppy and as facts emerge of course my opinion will change.

First the person posting about the seclusion of women's restrooms/shower (I don't remember exactly what was posted on that other site) needs to be forwarded to the LE. That's freakin' creepy now.

Because she could have left the lab to go to the restroom right? Perhaps, she was met with a blitz attack by a perp that followed her and made an advance. Violent death, is a possibility given it would have been a crime of oportunity.

The clothes in the ceiling ~ not hers ~ hasn't been said if the DNA on the clothes are hers and whoever elses though. If it is connected to her, I bet they can get DNA of the offender.

The fire alarm ~ get the ppl out of the building in order to get her down to the basement to hide her.

We are looking at a very dangerous perp. Man O' Man. She was such a beautiful girl. Such a shame.

Just speculation on my part. Ignore if it upsets anyone please.

How could someone make the time to put a body in a WALL? Aren't there students going in and out of these areas?

Body found in lab; student fails lie test

<snipped>
Grim-faced authorities tonight said they found a body believed to be that of missing Yale grad student Annie Le stuffed behind a wall at the school lab where she went missing last week — and added that a student failed a polygraph over the case.

"Shortly after 5 p.m. this evening, Connecticut State Police located the remains of a human secreted in a wall inside a building located at 10 Amistad [St.]," said New Haven Police Assistant Chief Peter Reichard.

"She hasn’t been positively ID’d, but we’re assuming it’s [Le]," Reichard said. "We contacted members of Le’s family. Our sympathies go out to the family."

Reichard revealed that a university student has failed a lie-detector test when questioned about the missing young woman but refused to provide details, including whether he was the same young man who had been led from the building for questioning early Saturday.

"We can’t release any more information at this time," Reichard said.

The developments came hours after authorities had spent the afternoon scouring a trash dump at an incineration plant 40 miles north of the New Haven campus, where refuse from the lab is occasionally taken.

A special team of FBI probers joined the state police at the Hartford site — the same day Le had been scheduled to marry a Columbia grad student on Long Island. Search dogs were heard barking inside the compound.
