Are there security desks in the lobbies?

Not that I can recall. I only remember security desks at the libraries and the auditorium, where you had to flash a Yale ID card. Even so, there are always several doors to the buildings.

IF LE doesn't release the name of the perp soon, I will have to resort to chewing my arm off!!!
I have been thinking that last huge grain of salt I swallowed with the media reports might have went really well with my left leg!

That would explain why police believe no one else is in danger (as reported by some news stories), if in fact that is what they believe. However, if they found another body, you'd think police would have announced that (or news of that would have leaked). But who knows . . .

No one is in danger because they know who it is.

I still think maintenance/service personnel/construction possible...
Conceivable it could be a former student, I suppose.

I think the reasons behind the "no one else is in danger" is
1. Damage control from Yale
2. The condition of the body and/or the fact that the crime was done in an area with so many cameras supports the targeted killing

They are talking about this case right now on HLN.

Are they saying anything new?
I don't get why they keep saying no one else is in danger. They have not said they have anyone in custody or if there is another desceased person so how can they say no one is in danger. Doesn't make sense cause if the person who did this isn't dead or isn't in custody it would be apparent to me that a killer is on the loose regardless of the motive or reason they are still at large. I think it will come out that the person who failed the polly is in custody but they want to get all the evidence together before releasing that info

On Headline News- Nancy Grace reporter saying that the body was found in what is called a "chase" in the basement. A "chase" is a construction term for utility closet, etc. It's about 5 feet by 5 feet and they are usually locked but during daylight hours there are construction workers going in and out and they are left unlocked.

The source told CBS News’ correspondent Randall Pinkston that the suspect has failed at least one polygraph lie detector test and possibly more. The suspect has not been formally charged, but is not at large.

The victim, 24-year-old Le, and the suspect may have known each other, says the source

Randall Pinkston CBS NEWS -- excellent reporter. I would take this to the bank (as much as we can take anything to the bank). I was saying...wait til the big guns get up there to get real news.

I'm thinking I better have my BP checked after all the salt I've consumed today.

Yep. The suspect list is now down to one and he is currently being questioned. That is why it is a "random act".

See that's what I was thinking. Annie didn't even need to swipe her card.

That is one big glove on that girl's right hand ... or am I wrong?

It looks like a cast to me. Maybe that's why she is holding the door open with her other hand, causing the awkward stance across the door.

Ah, there it is. "Is not at large." Not charged, maybe not yet arrested, but they have him.

thanks puffy,
What we know:

1- she left all her items at sterling.

2- she walked to 10 Amistad and swiped in (that is from LE.. whether we could see her doing it in the video still or not)

3- she was seen by overhead surv. still entering the building carrying an unidentified (and le will not comment on it) object and her yale ID

4- there was an alarm at 1240 in the building... she was not seen leaving the building. there are 75 cameras on and around the building. It was triggered by steam. It is possible that someone did it on purpose (per le statement to the media)
**autoclave = sleuthing possibilities of source of steam

5- one of her two housemates reported her missing at 9pm

6- bloody clothes were found in the ceiling tiles of the basement. The fabric did not match the clothing Annie last had on.

7- Annie was found in an area behind the wall of the basement where the electrical wires are.

8- her death was a homicide

9- cause of death may be released tomorrow at three pm

10- there are no suspects or persons of interest. no one is in custody. LE states that no students are involved in the investigation. LE, to the yale daily news said that the reports of a student failing a poly were absolutely false. (we all know LE can say what they need to... to maintain the integrity of the investigation)

* if I left anything out please add it... eyes did a much better outline which I need to go and find...

11. - police have stated her murder was not a random act.

The most interesting thing about this report is that its source can't state categorically that Annie and her assailant knew each other. He or she seems to know other details (the polygraph; "not at large"), but doesn't identify the suspect as someone in Annie's school or social circles.

This is the updated report on ABC News' website:
The suspect who police are looking at has what appear to be defensive wounds, a key piece of circumstantial evidence. In addition, the suspect, who authorities believe knew Le, failed a lie detector test, sources told ABC News. Sources also told ABC News that bloody clothing removed from the lab contained evidence that links the killer to the crime.

To me, the bold-face information is new.

Further info on a "chase":

http://www.nhregister.com/articles/2009/09/14/news/doc4aae5d57ae145175622155.txt

A chase is an enclosed vertical channel inside a wall that holds utilities for a building, like electrical wiring and plumbing. It typically goes from the basement to the roof and has “fire stops” between each floor. There also usually are access doors on each floor.

I just saw the tail end of the report on CNN and it said something about a student needing to get into the building but didn't have access that day, not sure if they said they lost their key to someone else? Did anyone else see that? I'm not sure if that was speculation as to what happened or if that really happened?
