Police Hope to Solve Murder of Unidentified Baby

The Fairfield Police Department call him “Victor”, but in reality they don’t know his name. The newborn was found murdered on March 14, 1986 in the Lake Mohegan land owned by the town of Fairfield. He had been suffocated and had his jaw broken. The body was found in such a way, that Police believe the killer(s) wanted it to be discovered. There was also evidence that the killing and burial may have been a ritual of somesort. The newborn was wrapped in a pair of adult pajamas. His body was surrounded by pieces of fruit, coins, food and other objects that suggested some sort of unusual religious custom. Fairfield Police believe it could be related to Santeria or a religion similar to it.
In 2011, Police announced a possible breakthrough in the case. There was evidence that a baby was born in a bathroom stall at an old a red brick building that housed a bank data-processing center located in the Kings Highway/Black Rock Turnpike traffic circle; hours before the discovery of Baby Victor’s body The building has since been torn down and was replaced by a Sym's clothing store. Police believe that someone working there at the time may know who had given birth in the stall. It is possible that the baby was the one found dead in Lake Mohegan.

The State of Connecticut has a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrests of individuals involved in the unsolved murder of baby Victor. If you have any information please call the Detective Division at the Fairfield Police Department at 203-254-4840. All calls will be kept confidential. Interesting article from April 2018
Fairfield police still looking for answers in baby homicide
Police believe Victor’s mother was likely a runaway or foster teen, living in Bridgeport’s West End. Some tips indicated she was 15.

“We’re open-minded to what really could’ve happened,” Gagner said. If Victor’s mother was a victim, he said, she wouldn’t go to jail.

Shortly after the baby’s death, police also received tips that “the father of the baby was in (a) gang,” from Bridgeport, Gagner said. Several members of the gang were tentatively ruled out through blood tests, Dalling said.

Homicide of an Unidentified Infant - Fairfield - March 14, 1986 - $25,000 Reward

On the morning of March 14, 1986, the mutilated body of a one-day-old baby boy was found near a wooded picnic area of Lake Mohegan Town Park in Fairfield. The infant had been strangled and his death was ruled a homicide.

The mutilation of the child's face was determined to have occurred after he was killed. The infant's injuries appear to have been ritualistic in nature and may possibly be related to a religious practice known as Palo.

In 2011, the Governor's Office authorized a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the murder of this infant.

The case is being investigated by the Fairfield Police Department. If you have information about this case, please contact Detective Kerry Dalling at the Fairfield Police Department by telephone at 203-254-4840 or by e-mail at [email protected].

Palo Mayombe? Sorry just my 2 cents but I wasn’t expecting a blonde baby. Hmm. There are various cults of what is believed to have been a religion from the Congo existing around the US.

I'm guessing the trinkets, fruit, and coins are thought to potentially mean something - I have no idea. Those items mentioned in the article may have nothing to do with his case and are not mentioned in his Namus case file at all.

I'm finding just typing this post that my hands and fingers are clinched profusely - it makes me so angry. I'm hopeful since his case was just added to Namus and the case file indicates his body was found wrapped in some clothing and a plastic bag that there remains something of evidentiary value that can be used to provide both his identity and that of his killer(s).

As a sidenote, his body was discovered the Friday before St. Patrick's Day Monday.

Photo below is from the website; some general info and history included Fairfield, CT - Lake Mohegan Open Space Area

Baby could be Black but born Albino, which would also make it look blond.
Or, if the mom indeed was Cuban, Cubans are very multiethnic, it is easily possible the baby is light skinned. Many Cubans are white passing.

Unbelievably depraved what happened to this newborn.
Had to question if there actually could be a connection between human sacrifice and Palo Mayombe and immediately came across this 2000 article from the not so reputable NY Post.
It mentions a 15 year old case involving an infant found in Connecticut. It has to the the same case. There are details that were not explicitly mentioned in the case.
I can’t bring myself to include them here, or even finish reading the article.
Will link for those with stronger stomach than mine.
