IMO the sweatshirt etc. couldn't be used as evidence after the broken chain of custody, i.e., being in NP's possession all that time. Wondered why NP was keeping it, how he knew whose DNA was or wasn't on it. Did NP have it tested?
No, I don’t think he had it tested and it seemed from the testimony that it was tested by the State later in the process once the pass the box game ended in the office of the female attorney who because a CT State Judge….

What was the story with the porche? I know it was titled in Jennifer’s name, but do we know who was driving it when the accident happened, or if it was insured at the time?

Court advising jury -- no court Friday and Monday. Resuming on Tuesday.

MT is literally blending into the walls today ... I'm beginning to despise beige.

State's witness Mark Newt, State If Connecticut, Forensics Lab, Computer data

Witness describes vehicle forensics. Infotainment system. Syncs phones and GPS. Download data from phones.

Burla is the industry standard.

  • #468
Witness describes recovering data -- either by direct download or physically remove the system.

Ultimately they do the data extraction.

Connected devices and GPS data from the vehicle itself

Only retrieves phone call related data. Contacts, calls.

Data is considered disposable. Can be overwritten. Some systems retain longer.

[Bet this guy is a hit at dinner parties! Passionate about his trade!]

Funny, I was thinking gosh he’s enthusiastic about his job!

Hope PG has a nice vacation/something relaxing planned starting bright and early this AM!

I'm still seething over Beckham. What an absolute manipulator FD was. He was court ordered -- no contact. To ask JFd to violate those terms? Skeevy. Using a dying dog to do it. No shame.

You can be sure FD never gave a whit about Beckham. Just a tool from his manipulator's toolbar.

It gives me comfort to know that, when he had it, Beckham felt safe with PG. That imagine will stick with me.

Dogs know.

He couldn’t even take his own dog to the vet, and it’s not like fD actually had anything to do, himself. Everyone else did actual work. He didn’t even appear to supervise. He couldn’t be bothered to do it-sent PG to do such a menial task. That’s how much he cared about Beckham.

Witness and J F-O physically removed the infotainment center from vehicles.

Raptor IC sent for analysis. Data extraction, BURLA.

"There was some [data]."

Patches in time that are missing.

Ford has a Sync system. Gens 1, 2 and 3. Each with improvements to data storage and capabilities.

Raptor had a Gen 2.

Some GPS data, spotty likely due to overwriting
Phone call history
List of connected devices
Contact list

1000 pages

GPS log
Vehicle event

Witness analyzed the IC for May 23/24.

Did not get a continuous record. Spotty.

Explanation: Got an error message. Drive was wearing out. Plus overwriting.

Witness confirms a person could not manipulate that data.

IDing the BURLA report

I’m sorry to ask - I’ve tried following “the box case” but I’ve missed something. Was it the pail that was in the box, and why was/is it so controversial regarding being submitted evidence? I haven’t had any luck with standard search terms.
I think you look at concept of 'chain of custody' as a start that will show how this evidence is sadly tainted and it appears by Atty Pattis first.

The rest of the issues are specific to rules of procedure and evidence that are perhaps too arcane for discussion but I believe but its probably enough to know that Attorneys are bound to rules of behaviour and so far as I can tell not one adhered to those rules on how this box was handled. There are some general articles for lay folks on "general rules of evidence" that could help you with a framework for understanding some of the many possible issues.

In this court case we witnessed endless numbers and bags of evidence that were only allowed to be ripped open in front of the Jury and people handle the evidence with gloves to protect the integrity of the evidence.

With the game of "Pass the Box and Bucket" none of these rules were followed by any person touching the box until it ended up with Jon Shoenhorn who then threatened the State with the contents of the box by saying he would use it to exonerate his client.

Nobody followed the rules on what to do with the box. Further, the person who first encountered the "BOX AND BUCKET" didn't pick up the phone and call LE - Atty Pattis. Nope, he just pushed the box to a far corner in his office and passed it on to the next person (Atty Bowman) who did the same until it ended up with Defence Counsel (Jon Schonhorn) and eventually his attorney who sadly was elevated to the CT Bench to 'administer' justice to citizens.

Short answer, box was passed from person to person to the point that even though hoodie had MT hair and her DNA on th tools that there was no way to know who else had come in contact with the box. Box was tainted evidence. Was this deliberately done? How did Atty Pattis get the box? And on and on with questions that simply cannot be answered. Its a shameful part of this tragic case and for this I absolutely hold the involved attorneys and JUDGES responsible. The matter was never investigated and nobody was ever charged with hindering/hampering etc. The attorney's in this matter were BAD but IMO it was the Judges (at least 2 that I can see) that did zero are FAR WORSE!

JS voir dire

This is a report you created? Did you create the map? Were there other maps that you didn't include?

JS is asking about green and red dots, did you add the colors?

Is there a range for these dots?

JS asking if dots are exact...

Accuracy range...

Witness says this is satellite GPS, accurate to within 16 feet

Judge interrupts. This isn't voir dire, this is cross examination

JS continues to challenge the accuracy of the coordinates.

State objects. Judge schools. This is NOT voir dire.

  • #478
Haha. JS can't ask the questions he wants so retreats to his sand box. Love it.

  • #479
We're seeing the report 5/23 and 24
Going through it very quickly

Continuous markers for the Raptor [confirm what PG said]
