Respectfully, I don't believe that it is obvious that she did not feel as if she was in imminent danger. I believe she knew she was in danger, and that it may be imminent, and one can never be so adequately prepared that someone cannot get to them, if they are hellbent on doing so. I think we all know that, and I would imagine that a woman as intelligent as Jennifer is did as well. JMO

My feeling is that she felt the children were in more imminent danger of being removed to Greece and that's why she was working so hard for the supervised visits, the prohibitions on teaching them Greek, making sure the younger ones did not get Greek passports.

I'm sure she felt threatened by him, but her actions tell me she was more concerned about them being illegally abducted out of the country.

Also, very interesting that they would go to NYC with her mother the night before they were to be returned to FD for a supervised one-day (not overnight) visit on a long holiday. I think she knew there was a heightened level of danger to them because of the legal orders he had just received that would require him to provide documents to the court that could expose more fraud on his part. I just think she knew something was up to make them take a 4+ hour drive to and fro when they could have just stayed in NC that night.

I know the children had an armed guard with them in NYC by the end of the weekend. Do we know when they started getting armed protection? Was it before Friday May 24?

IMO you are right and that's what worries me. Your point and the continuos search of the dump is what gets me thinking, he really did dump her in the trash. :( Uggghhh. However, I think if he did he used a different area for that then the Albany Ave. dump.

If he did put her in the trash he must have dismembered her then, right? In order for the body to go in the trash bags without being too heavy or obvious? So if he did that when and where could he have done so? Likely it would have been near a drain like in a tub because I am assuming that would create a lot of mess (blood, etc.).... I wonder if they have searched all bathrooms at all houses available to him for any blood evidence, including her house in NC? What about 80 MS? 4 JC? All of his other properties??

Sushi partner likely a female relative. What female (dating-wise) in her right mind would go out with FD now. And his relationship with MT is still warm. And no potential date would show up for lunch in sweats.

I read that they had broken up, is this true??? New York Post:

They are also broken up, according to Fotis’ attorney, Norm Pattis.

“I don’t know how [a relationship is] possible with these circumstances,” he told The Post.

I feel like FD and MT's status is highly relevant right now... I am curious because a break up would seem to reek of guilt on his part... If she wants nothing to do with him now then she obviously knows or believes in his guilt right? JMO

Many times people assist law enforcement in grid searches, and do not touch anything if they see something suspicious...
With the amount of woods and open area without organized public searches I do not see how they will find her... it has already been a month!
A month is not a long time when looking for a body that has been buried/sunk/hidden in an unknown location. MOO

I don't think she wanted to prohibit the kids from learning Greek, but prohibit FD from speaking to the kids in Greek when visitation supervisor couldn't understand what he was saying. The prohibition was on that - so he couldn't say damaging things to the kids.

The kids must already know Greek to be able to understand him, and she wasn't stopping that. The ruling, from my understanding, was that the conversations during supervised visits had to be in English to that they could be properly monitored.

jmopinion - correct me if I'm wrong!

Vigilance .. it’s tiring.

But deterrents are the alarm sign. Unmistakable cameras in your face and we have a dog. I thank you for your tips!

I think another important lesson I learned was to know who is working in an around your property. Our serial killer worked for a lawn service and did jobs for 3 of the 4 people he killed. So he had some familiarity with their setup and he was trusted by a older couple he murdered for their guns. Awful awful.

I was horrified to find a painting company that was painting the exterior of my house was using ex-cons on parole. On of them wanted to use the bathroom inside. Never ever using that company again. Also, most moving companies use ex-cons.

Clearly, this wasn't the issue with JD's attack and disappearance. But I wonder if she would have recognized the Red Toyota and thought he was OK since he worked with FD.

Such good questions. I have felt all along that she was dismembered. My sense is they searched diligently to find that place to no avail . I still believe she could be in the landfill. After seeing that recent video of LE combing through you can see why it has taken so long and may continue. They didn't get there until a week later. For sure, they spoke with many residents and homeless people on the Albany Ave. corridor.
@mrjitty .Hey buddy! Would you post your thoughts on there being 3 different sites related to a crime? I would but you are much better at it. :)

Exactly. No one blaming her at all. FD also could have lulled her into a false sense of security by being pleasant in the months before the murder.
Or just two days before, when he allegedly played basketball with his kids at her house.

He first contacted her in January and filed for his divorce in March, which was finalized in July. They got married in August. All in 2004.

Yes I know-what I meant was that maybe JD did not know the status of his marriage; what if she began to plan the wedding for August, and the July finalization of his divorce hit a snag...what would she have done?

Hit the paywall for Hartford Courant several weeks ago!

Can you please summarize here or in media thread. Big thanks. :)

Seattle, a fellow Sleuther gave me this advice and it worked:
Go to History on your computer, Click on Clear History, shut down computer and restart. You should be able to open Courant.

Most of these large homes are built with the better security systems installed in them. I can’t imagine the rental house JD was in not having a security system.

Her mother seemed very aware of the dangers FD posed to JD so I think she would have insisted JD have one installed if there wasn’t one when she moved in. It would only be an asset to the landlord if JD had one installed.

One thing that concerns me is that with FD having visited with the children the prior day, was there any way he could have done something to a door to disengage it from the security system to give him access on the fateful day?

If she had cameras, would there have been one in the garage? I don’t remember.

But also, common sense tells me that digging a hole somewhere deep in the woods (so many options all over CT) would be less risky and labor-intensive... I just really feel deep down that something shady and significant was going on at 80 MS on the day in question... what with the cell phone pings going back and forth from there and considering it appears that he spent so much time there that day... I am sure they have scoured that house and hopefully the sounding property, just saying. It's possible that he left his cell there for a while to make it look like he was there when really he was elsewhere, though. Ugh, this case is so frustrating. At times he/they seem to have been so "savvy" yet at others so incredibly... silly for lack of better word. It's so hard to tell when he/they were just being stupid and when he/they were actually covering their tracks so to speak.

I believe there was a security system panel on the wall in the mudroom, next to the door into the garage. The natural place you would put the control panel. Perhaps she only used it at night, but not during the day as she was coming and going. Or perhaps the kids knew the code and FD found out about the code from them.

I keep thinking about that door from the back yard into the mudroom. That would have been right next to where the Wed BBQ was. That would be another place he could have entered the house undetected and waited for her in the garage.

Just catching up. My husband did the same thing. Wanted another woman to live with us so he could ‘protect her’.

Divorced now and he’s married to her.

Be careful what you wish for.

I know a guy (rugby teammate of my husband) who asked his wife if she’d mind if he brought the woman he was sleeping with, and her two children, to live in the house they shared. How do people even bring themselves to say these words? How “alpha” do you have to be to think it’s ok?

That is so pathetic. Painful to even read about it.

So easy to second guess once a crime has been committed...ventures into victim blaming, imo.

jmo
I agree I think it is disrespectful to question how she protected herself and children IMO and we at WS do not victim blame

  • #898
No precautions should be learned by others... I did learn the hard way too...
All sides of a crime should be examined..,
Conversations should be open and the investigation too!
Yes but using the victim to discuss criticism of their preparation is victim blaming please check TOS

Good question about the bed of the truck/cover.

I also wonder if a car has been cleaned - using perhaps a chemical spray to cover odor - could dogs still detect if a deceased body had been there?

jmo
I've read that even sprinkling black pepper can alter what the dogs hone in on but I don't know it to be true.

I also hope LE is searching or already has searched the Reservoir/large wooded area behind 4 JC... there is a lot of forest there. I know it might be too risky/too close to home for him but idk... there's just a lot of relatively uncharted territory back there...
