Quick question: does anyone know if FD's or MT's shoes were checked for blood?

  • #842
They have sewers in New Canaan
New Canaan does have sewers but I do not believe they serve the entire town. There are also properties with septic tanks. I am not sure whether JD's house fell into the "sewer district" or not.

One more thought: We know there was evidence of blood in the garage and the faucet, and we heard about blood on at least some of the items in the trash bags in the 30-trash-can stops. What exactly do we think happened to kill JD that would be, apparently, bloody? I’m not asking to be gory; I’m just thinking it might help us to consider this. I just realized I haven’t thought about FD’s clothes; surely he got some on himself.

You guys have me thinking: Fast disposal of poor JD’s body with, apparently, enough blood to need cleaning up could be done by what? He keeps doing lawn work, which none of us thinks he used to do all the time. So...hedge trimmers? Chainsaw? Chipper? Large mower like professionals use to mow large properties? While I know anecdotes are not helpful, I’ve seen some already-dead animals get run over by them, and not much left. Brush mower? Composter? Industrial or large-size trash compactor? Do any of the properties have pools, not that I have a good reason to ask?

Killings of intimate partners often are especially brutal, involving close encounters such as stabbings, strangulation and beatings, The Post’s analysis found.

Nearly a quarter of the 2,051 women killed by intimate partners were stabbed, compared with fewer than 10 percent of all other homicides. Eighteen percent of women who were killed by partners were attacked with a blunt object or no weapon, compared with 8 percent of other homicide victims. While a gun was used in 80 percent of all other deaths, just over half of all women killed as a result of domestic violence were attacked with a gun.

Violent choking is almost entirely confined to fatal domestic attacks on women — while fewer than 1 percent of all homicides result from strangulation, 6 percent of women killed by intimate partners die in this manner, The Post found.

I honestly don't think he ever meant there to be the bloody mess. I think he expected to go in and kill her cleanly and have her body disposed of by someone else. He did not intend to know where she is.
But her blood hit the floor and from that point on he had to improvise and, being the planner he is, he could not pull it off.
I think the beginning of his plan and the end of it (disposal of her body) happened according to plan and everything in between was his panicked response and attempt to deflect away from himself and he failed.
I have always thought along these lines. The murder was planned, but something went awry in the garage. LE has told us explicitly that there was a violent physical assault there. FD did not anticipate LE would locate evidence of that assault. Nor did he anticipate he would be caught on video as he was disposing of the bloody items. Again, the garbage dump was planned (IMO) without FD thinking he would ever be caught on tape.

From the first time I heard about this murder, I have believed he disposed of JD's body such that it was not intact. Simply, he undertook some action to dismember her body. Did those garbage dumps contain more than bloody clothing, etc.? I also think the activity in his garage may be tied to what he did with JD's body. He interacted with her body post-mortem in some fashion; that contact had to result in the transmission of trace evidence somewhere.

Knowing just what we do about the evidence disclosed so far, it seems logical to conclude there is much, much more evidence out there. FD went off script for some reason along the way, and that must have put a great deal of pressure on him. He also did not count on certain evidence being preserved for LE. The 'forensic apocalypse' would certainly be anticipated in this case. IMO many of he theories here seem on point to me and the physical evidence is going to be critical.

I think he hit her with something or perhaps slammed her head on the car. I think he would have wanted to knock her out as quickly as possible. I suppose he could also have used a garotte. Could the bags have been used to carry her body somewhere else?
I've wondered if a gun was involved. Or like you said, started with a non-physical verbal tirade that escalated. Even if she was not fatally wounded by the first blow, he would have known he was done for at that point so killing HAD to happen. I do question if murder was the intent that day. I also wonder if he knows that the blood splatter indicates gun shot, he could claim self defense and scared of being blamed for defending himself. He could say she had the gun and he fought her.

Good point ! All this talk about septics got me thinking .... they must have no Public Works in NC ... which would mean well water ... wells are narrow and not easy to access ... hmmm
Outside of the downtown NC area (public water and sewers) houses in NC have wells and septic systems. This would include the main public buildings such as Town Hall, Police station, Library, HS, Middle School, 1 Elementary school, YMCA.

Trigger Warning: I do not not know how easy it would be to access to the main sewer or water lines to dispose of a body or liquified body remains? The schools were subject to upgraded camera security after the horrific Newtown shootings so I would doubt anyone would risk dumping anything on school property. But could there be another access point that isn't covered by camera? Does dumping a body or remains into a public sewer system make sense? Worth some research I think!

The transfer station in NC processes septic tank waste. I don't have details if the waste is processed at the transfer station or if it is sent someplace else for processing. But it is not unusual to see the major septic tank cleaning companies doing drop offs at NC Transfer station. I do hope that LE has checked with all local septic companies to verify any tank cleanings at ANY of the FORE houses (including the unoccupied house where JD/FD lived and where FD mother was run over by nanny).

I don’t have the knowledge myself, but according to my husband, if the septic tanks in NC are like the ones where we live just over the border in Westchester, FD would have no trouble putting JD in the septic tank ( he has seen the opening of ours). I think this is at least a possibility, and I don’t think he would have a lot of trouble finding the septic at JD’s house. I don’t necessarily think he needed JD to be hidden forever; just long enough for him to leave the country, which is what I think his original plan might have been. With the kids.
Good thought. Perhaps JD was hidden temporarily/overnight in the septic at Sturbridge overnight and what the neighborhood dogs responded to with much barking might have been loud noise from opening the cap to the system to remove the body?

JD house had septic/well as did Sturbridge property.

It will be interesting to see how this research ties into whatever LE releases about the garage attack. For some reason due to lack of LE mention of gun violence, I'd been operating under the assumption of blunt force trauma or knife. If the attack was perpetrated by FD he no doubt had solid knife skills from anything learned from the tanning process. MOO

IMO she was in it from day one as she refused to cooperate with LE. That action has guilt written all over it. I think she helped with his phone moving around the properties to make it appear as if he was working meanwhile FD was elsewhere.

I agree with you and I think she led LE on a wild goose chase to stall for time for chemicals to dissolve evidence, or concrete to absorb water in a barrel and sink or for a truck to leave the state headed for a toxic waste dump or a hundred other locations. The ruse of returning the pocket book the morning of the murders is not believable. Maybe if the bail had been higher or with strictly enforced conditions, or if both FD and MT had been held in jail longer some valuable info might have come out. (MOO)

Left consulting when the time was right? That's sure is a euphemism for marrying money, IMO.
I wonder just how well received he was at E&Y. His diploma may have gotten him in the door but IMO his personality would preclude good client and peer relationships and prevent him from climbing the corporate ladder. JMO

I think he "partnered" with his sister to form FORE because as an architect she lent a bit of cachet and credibility to the venture. JMO

Having little experience with septic tanks, I did some reading. I was shocked at not only the possibility of functioning septic tanks, but also abandoned tanks in which one could place a body and by adding lime dispose of it fairly quickly. I certainly hope LE had the opportunity and right personnel to check all the FD properties and other abandoned properties in the area. What an incredible task that could be, but FD not only purchased and built upon lands where there might have been old, unused systems, but also researched land he might have been considering for purchase.

I agree that the barking and loud noise coming from Sturbridge is discomforting. Again, I hope LE did more than look at the dumpster. Would they need a reason for a search warrant to access all JD's properties? Would anything be left to discover if the right chemicals were used? YIKES!

IMO he thinks he is going to be cleared of everything. Then his plan is to get custody of the kids and live off of their trusts. I do not think that GF would ever let those kids not have a comfortable life and the draw JD got may now go to the care of the kids. FD is counting on emotionally manipulating GF for $$$ via the kids.
. God forbid.

A huge percentage of people who are very successful at climbing the corporate ladder are sociopaths. They can exude charm and fool people easily. IMO.

Ugh, just horrible!!! And to think he once promised to love and protect her. Frightening.

It would surprise me very much if JD had anyone working for her with any connection at all to FD. I suppose it is possible, but I really don’t think it’s likely.
I think it is very possible in a round about way she would not have been aware of. People gossip and talk to their family and friends and if you are in a public location you never know who might be listening. Someone asked to be on alert might have been listening extra well and someone could have been paid to find out info. Never underestimate what a narcissist will do.

There are some young men who wear it that way. Hispanic dudes. But it's not jewelry and it's frowned upon. But yeah, clearly she was making a statement not practicing a religion.
Such sacrilege. She’s going to need more than Rosary beads to save her sorry butt.

I agree with you that he thinks he will be cleared and I think his history with the family and civil courts have allowed him too much leniency which has built up his confidence that he can beat any charge. I am just an ordinary person looking over all the great detailed info provided by the much more knowledgeable than me people about the motions he had filed, all the no shows, refusal to provide evidence etc and what punishment did he get? I have been trying to decide if he had some sort of privilege with some higher up in the system that allowed him to be treated like a spoiled child and thus get more out of control . To an outsider it looks like certain people are looking out for each other at the expense of innocent victims. Or is this just the way the legal system is everywhere? (I am not saying this about LE because from what I have read they are searching everywhere under awful conditions etc and seem to be doing all they can) . I am putting my hope in the state attorney

Below is an article on each...FD, MT, and Jennifer. I have searched other articles for the answer:

Can anyone tell me if FD is a US citizen?

FD was born in Turkey, grew up in Greece, but I have not found if he is a US citizen. He came to the US in 1986.

Why am I asking? I remember from other cases, when a person is convicted, they can be sent back to their home country, usually after time is served for the crime. I know FD is not tried yet, but I was interested.

That's true. But sometimes we don't know what banks they're using. And we can't just examine their computers without asking. So we ask for their records or access.

Even then, they can fight those requests on various grounds. A big one would be carte blanche access to computers. That would likely not be allowed. We have to have narrow requests.

So they have to produce the records or information that lets us know where the record are. Then they sometimes refuse to. So we have to file a motion to compel. And it goes on and on.

Title company and his trades could get images from their deposits. Those deposits have payor (FD) banking info embossed on the front and back of each check. It’s just a question of looking at checks, backtracking. Balancing. If there are discrepancies, calculate the missing funds. The unaccounted for funds had to have come out of the account. Even if cash withdrawals. Connect the dots. Anything over $10,000 in one transaction was sent to the IRS. banking law.
Did he ever fly in a private jet? Suitcase full of cash would make a banker meet the owner in person. Private air strip. Limo. Cloak and dagger.
