been catching up on thread today and noticed some comments about not being able to read the article because of monthly limit. a tip i have is that to the best of my knowledge the limits are browser specific. i'm on win10 and i have chrome, firefox, microsoft edge and internet explorer(the old windows browser) and i get the free articles per month on each browser. so when i reach the limit on one i use one of the others to read articles. usually i just highlight and copy and paste into the browser i want to use. the edge browser and internet explorer are already on win10 and the firefox is an easy install. okie dokie, just had to pass that along. happy reading.

The Hartford Courant reports attorney Richard Weinstein, representing Jennifer Dulos’ mother, filed a motion resulting in Judge Cesar Noble requiring Troconis this week to answer some questions from the deposition.

Noble says Troconis can assert her Fifth Amendment rights in certain scenarios, such as any question relating to her relationship with Fotis Dulos.
Judge orders Michelle Troconis to answer questions in Dulos civil lawsuit

Superior Court Judge John Blawie warned Dulos’s lawyers that while there may be some acceptable exceptions to the gag order their client is under, “I don’t see how the statements about his missing estranged wife’s mental status fall under one of the exceptions,”.

Defense attorney Kevin Smith told the judge that there’s no “predicate” felony charge against Dulos, which should negate his hindering charge, the Advocate reported.

“There is no construction liberal or otherwise that can sustain this information, because what this information charges is a hindering charge, that requires some other felony. And that is what is not present here,” Smith in the hearing, according to the report.

The end goal is justice for Jennifer. This thread has a team of consistent, dedicated people. We're a team here and let's not lose sight of that. We contribute thoughts on a public thread with the intention to share and expand on those like-minded thoughts, no? A post I have may spark a dozen more thoughts from other members, and that's ultimately why I'm here. A post I read here, often sparks a thought that leads to more research that I bring back to the thread. Based on what I see here, there are many others who do the same. WS may have taken some getting used to on my part, though ultimately, I am not here for credit or to be first. I've come to realize that collectively, we are better and can get further. I'm here for justice and the more info we can get out there, the better IMO.

I personally think watermarking publicly available information takes away from why we're here in an effort to make the information competitive. While I believe it is appropriate to acknowledge the original source of the information in a post, I don't believe most are here for 'credit' or 'breaking news'. We're here to share updates, as they come in...and lately it's sparse. If you find info that others haven't seen or has not been posted, why not post it yourself here? You'll be sure to get the credit and we may just be closer to getting justice for Jennifer.

1000000000000000000000000000000%!

Hope everyone had a good holiday!

While I'm still in 'recovery' mode, I've been working on a list of questions regarding the Avon, CT PD report on the untimely and no doubt painful death of Mama Duolos/Dulos.

Since the Hartford Courant seems to be doing zero investigative work on the case it probably wouldn't make sense to send a list of questions off to them. But there are some other reporters (including the DM) following this case who ARE asking questions and trying to get information. Shout out to whoever posted the Dave Altimari typos and thank you for a holiday laugh! Guess spell checker and Editor had both already left for the holiday!

I was thinking of simply gathering up everyones questions on the Mama Duolos/Dulos incident and sending them all off to some of the reporters to see if they might have the ability to get some additional answers from the State of CT Medical Examiner etc. I do have to say that I also strongly believe that the Avon, CT PD ought to reopen the incident file and at a minimum put together a report that makes basic logical sense IMO vs leaving the report 'as is'.

The more time you spend looking at the sequence of events at 585 Deercliff, the time of day, the hospital choice, the health 'issues' Mama Duolos/Dulos had experienced over a period of at least 3 months prior to the 'accident', the untimely death followed by immediate cremation which doesn't fit with Orthodox rules it seems, FD translation of Nanny Statements for LE, JD deferral on all matters to FD and unknown FD timeline during and after the incident and unknown JD timeline as well, the list of questions just keeps growing and growing IMO and its very concerning.

Interesting article about cremation in Greek Orthodox community:

New Greek law permits cremation

But article raises the issue of whether Mama Duolos left a WRITTEN order covering her desire to be cremated? IDK how this might have happened as the article stated there was no will. Mmmmmm.

Quotes from article:

"The decision, brought on by years of pressure from human rights groups and state ombudsmen, comes at a time when the powerful Greek Orthodox Church that opposed the plan is embroiled in a series of bribery and embezzlement scandals".

"The cremation of foreigners or Greeks, whose religious convictions allow the cremation after death, is allowed," the new law said.

According to the law, Orthodox Greeks can choose cremation as long as they have stated this in writing before their death or their immediate relatives wish it.

"A pre-condition for the cremation is the clear, unequivocal statement of the deceased, or their relatives," that they wish to be cremated, the law said. [BBM]

In a country where more than 95 percent of the population is Orthodox, the families of people who did not wish to be buried spend thousands of euros transporting them to neighboring Bulgaria for cremation.

For decades the Greek Orthodox Church had strongly opposed cremation, saying the body is God's creation and cannot be burned. But the church says it does not plan to protest the decision.

"The church does not oppose and has no right to oppose the cremation of the dead for those of other religions or other Christian denominations," said a spokesman for the Church of Greece, Charis Konidaris.

"For the Orthodox people, though, it recommends burial as the only way for the decomposition of the deceased human body, according to its long traditions," he said. [BBM]

IMO still seems like there are members of the religious community opposed to cremation. So, I very much wonder whether Mama Duolos was religious and held conservative beliefs such that she would have been opposed to cremation? Just another question to add the existing long list of questions about this tragic incident at 585 Deercliff, Avon, CT. I also wonder if the DM might be able to figure out who actually cremated Mama Duolos and under whose directions?

Interesting, since FD insisted on following ALL Greek traditions to a "t" - even going as far as telling JD he would have nothing to do with his daughter if they did not name her after his mother exactly (instead of reversing first and middle names as JD suggested so the child could have a more traditional American sounding name). Yet he quickly chooses a newly accepted, somewhat controversial (in the Greek Orthodox community) way to dispose of his very Greek mother's body after her death that was surrounded by unusual circumstances.

Good point. The only reason to cremate her, it appears, was to avoid further scrutiny.

Scrutiny about what? Toxicology...? perhaps she did not die from being run over as expected, and it needed to be finished off in the hospital - who knows?

bbm Hope yours was great, and that you feel better soon!

There is nothing about the Mama Dulos (FD's mother) Runover that makes any sense - nothing about how it happened, the widely differing "stories", the investigation, or the follow up. Every time I read the report, more questions pop up.

The nanny stayed in the hospital with her all night. The police and hospital expected Grandma to recover. She died when? Where? How? Of what? Did the nanny administer her pain killers for her? Was she allowed to do so in the hospital?

Then she was immediately cremated, her clothing was already immediately destroyed - so there was NO evidence afterwards.

All too shady. Amazing, in fact.

Want more “holiday laughs?” Here’s a v. recent post from NP’s Pattisblog.com, wherein he has some trouble with typos. First he spells Sacha Baron Cohen’s name as “Sahsa Baran Cohen”. Next he gets the Sacha right, but not the Baron. In 3rd paragraph he tries “Sasha”, followed by “hears” when he might mean “here’s”, followed by “a heartfelt” [artfully disguised expletive.] --

Sahsa Baran Cohen Auditions To Become Chinese Censor

Forgive me if I am not prepared to sacrifice the right to speak freely to the sensibilities of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and to comedian Sacha Baran Cohen. But I repeat what I’ve said any number of times: There is no mob quite so terrifying as a self-righteous mob.

Cohen appeared last week at an ADL convention in New York to do what he claims never to have done before – show his true colors. The low-brow comic transfixed the crowd of attendees by telling them exactly what they wanted to hear: Hate speech is bad. Social media is to blame as it panders to our basest instincts. People of goodwill – a.k.a. “us” – need to place limits on what “they” can say.

I’m one of “them,” Sasha. So hears a heartfelt f@#k off.”’

So by disguising his expletive, did Norm actually “place limits” on what he could say on his own blog?

Good points. And I also still have my ex's name. Definitely good if you have boys (to share the last name). I said 'boys' because daughters often marry and get a new name.

Yes, all valid points from everyone.

However, everyone here is coming from the point of the Divorce.

JF is no longer at the point of the divorce, for her circumstances have Horrifically Changed.

Prior to her demise on May 24, 2019, JF may very well have decided to keep her married name so as to have continuity with the children, after the divorce became final.

However, This crime is so unfathomable, that No One here knows what Jennifer would want at this point, since I doubt she ever said 'on by the way, if FD murders me, make sure I am referred to as ________'.

Hypothetical:
Let's say JF, barely survived the Serious Physical Assault by her estranged husband.

Would she Now choose to keep the name of the person who tried to Kill her?

Jennifer's family is referring to her as Jennifer Farber Dulos. I like that Farber is being featured Prominently and Dulos almost seams to be an after thought.

Boldly Emphasizing Farber in her name as Jennifer FARBER Dulos is also telling FD that he is Not important and he can Never erase the beautiful Jennifer from this earth.

I am sure that Dr. Gloria Farber has included the children in many decisions being made and the name of JFD may very well be one of those decisions.

For the time being, she is Jennifer FARBER Dulos and it would be appropriate to use JFD on this thread, although I may use JFd.

Of course, Everyone here is free to make their own choice and I do not think anyone's respectful choice should be considered incorrect or disrespectful.

The children also have a choice in their own name. They are from the ancestral family of Dulos/Doulos/Duolos and if they choose to keep the ancestral name, I would hope that no one would criticize them for doing so. If they choose Dulos, this should be in No Way considered as support for FD and not support for their mother. It is the children's Ancestral name and they have every right to keep the ancestral name regardless of the father's sins.

IMO.

first time commenting on this case but have been following. This has always bothered me too. It doesn’t make sense. I also live in a wealthy area where people drive land rovers and don’t know of any nannies that drive one. Usually the extremely wealthy will buy a minivan for the nanny to drive their kids around. And like you mentioned - no license?!? ETA: AND they kept her employed after the incident.

I am also a practicing Greek Orthodox and it is rare that a person who has passed is cremated. It is not tradition and I’m shocked how quickly Mama Dulos was cremated. It is interesting to know too if he was a practicing Orthodox Christian, if he ever held the customary 40 day, 6 month and one year memorial service for his Mother. Something about this whole situation raises a red flag for me too.

Welcome @glassheater! So glad you are here as we have been working hard to understand more about Greek cultural and religious issues and their possible impact on this tragic case. Given the age of FD many seem to believe that he might not have been as closely tied to his homelands traditions and cultural roles but as we have learned more about him, it does appear that he was quite traditional in his views on things and in particular about his family and how it functioned too. FD 'sister' Rena (not sure of her last name as she seems to have at least 3 including her married name and we have no way of knowing if Rena is truly FD 'sister' or 'step sister' etc.) wrote an impassioned letter which was shared with the Press about her brother and how the 'people in Greece' who know FD support him etc. and how he supported his family during the crisis in Greece.

So far as we know from what was in the Family Court documents, following the traditions of Greece and the Greek Orthodox faith was quite important to FD. It is believed that the family also followed the 'naming day' tradition and FD might have been at Welles in NC on the Wed. before JD went missing for such a "name day" celebration.

Not sure exactly whose 'name day' it might have been but here is list of possible options for around the time of May 23rd:

THEOGNOSTOS (Theognostos, Theognosios, Theognosia) 19 May THEOKTISTOS (Theoktistos) 19 May LEEDA (2) (Lida) 20 May LIDIA (2) (Lydia, Lidia, Lidie, Lyda, Lydie) 20 May LITO (Lito, Leeto, Leto) 20 May CONSTANTIN (Konstantinos, Kostantinos, Kostas, Costas, Constantine, Costantine, Gus) 21 May CONSTANTINA (Thina, Kostantina, Dina, Costantina) 21 May HELEN (Elena, Elene, Ellen, Eleni, Lena, Eleanor, Eleonora, Eleonor, Nora, Marilena) 21 May NANTIA (Nantia, Nandia, Nadia, Nadya) 21 May EMILIOS (Emile, Emilia, Emily, Emma) 22 May KODROS (Kodros) 22 May (no widely known nameday) 23 May CHRISTIAN (Christian) 24 May MARKIANI (Markiani) 24 May PALLADIA (Palladia) 24 May PHOTINI (2) (Fotine, Fotini, Foto, Fotoula, Fay, Fofo) 24 May (source ©: www.namedays.gr)

been catching up on thread today and noticed some comments about not being able to read the article because of monthly limit. a tip i have is that to the best of my knowledge the limits are browser specific. i'm on win10 and i have chrome, firefox, microsoft edge and internet explorer(the old windows browser) and i get the free articles per month on each browser. so when i reach the limit on one i use one of the others to read articles. usually i just highlight and copy and paste into the browser i want to use. the edge browser and internet explorer are already on win10 and the firefox is an easy install. okie dokie, just had to pass that along. happy reading.

I do have two browsers and depleted my limit of HC articles on both apparently. Sometimes that does work. I found that when I deplete my limit of articles from CT Law Trib, I can often cut and paste the title of the article into Google and it comes up on Law.com, where I can read it.

I meant he trusts her to return to CT with her daughter because she returned from NY because the gps had a weak signal
i've always wondered if the gps company advised her to come back

As I recall, Judge Blawie was in the State's Attorney's Office before he was confirmed to the bench. He might have an inside view of how a prosecutor thinks (by not objecting). Moo

It will be interesting to see how this issue of 'last name' and custody for the 5 children resolves itself.

I believe the issue of custody might also play out in the recent Kelsey Berreth case where her daughter is now in the temporary custody of her parents after her former fiancé was recently convicted of her murder. It is believed that the victims parents will be seeking permanent custody of her daughter now that the murder conviction has occurred in CO and termination of parental rights of the convicted murderer. It is also believed that the victims parents will seek a no contact order from the convicted murderers family and will also seek to adopt their grandchild. The motive for the Berreth case was never fully developed but custody of the daughter was believed by many to have been a key component.

I have absolute faith in the wisdom and team surrounding GF and the 5 Dulos children that these issues will be handled in due course as appropriate. The Berreth case was unusual in that from the time of disappearance/murder to conviction it took roughly a year. The Dulos case isn't moving at that speed or timetable, but I do think that its not inconceivable that GF will seek at some point to terminate the parental rights of FD, seek a no contact order encompassing FD and entire Greek Family and pursue adoption of the children. I believe in CO that there might be a provision for automatic termination of parental rights with a murder conviction but I don't know if there is a similar situation in CT. Sadly though it looks like resolution of these complex as well as emotional issues might be well into the future as the pace of justice in CT is what it is.

Well said, CTG.

And that is what is not present here,” Smith in the hearing, according to the report.

bbm. I'm not a lawyer, but I'm not sure Defense Attorney Kevin Smith (thanks, CT taxpayers?) would make sense to me even if I were one.

Correct me if I'm wrong, lawyers (@Midwestmom2019 ?), but it appears Kevin Smith is claiming his client was not accused of a felony.
“There is no construction liberal or otherwise that can sustain this information, because what this information charges is a hindering charge, that requires some other felony. And that is what is not present here," Smith [said] in the hearing, according to the report.'

However, Fotis Dulos has been charged with not one, but THREE related felonies. See attached: Two felonies with the offense date 5/24/19, and one felony with the offense date of 5/29/19.

He’s saying there’s no criminal act proven for him to be charged hindering with. Hindering and tampering should only exist if there’s a felony to connect it with. Pattis said the same thing in his motion to dismiss all charges a month ago. It’s nothing new. JMO

I think he’s referring to the police not charging FD with a more serious underlying charge and since they are accusing him of murder without charging him with murder he says his rights are being violated since he can’t defend himself.
In criminal law, a predicate offense is a crime that provides the resources for, or contains some of the elements of, a more serious crime. A predicate offense is committed for the purpose of committing the greater crime. If someone is convicted of a serious crime – especially those requiring a complex plan and resources – predicate offenses may serve to enhance his sentence.
