Thanks Los Angeles! Maybe the automated system didn't have Christmas in its calendar?

Regardless, KM will have been imprisoned for almost a year at that point. He was taken into custody on January 7, 2020:

TOLLAND — A South Windsor lawyer was arrested at gunpoint Tuesday afternoon in connection with the Jennifer Dulos disappearance, according to a source close to the case.
Kent Douglas Mawhinney, a former lawyer for Fotis Dulos, was detained at gunpoint during a traffic stop in Tolland late Tuesday afternoon.

About a month later the drama and hints at a possible deal began to surface. Afraid those hopes are no longer present...at least, IMO:
February 14, 2020
A judge said Friday an attorney accused of sexually assaulting his wife has been offered a deal that’s pending “discussions” in the Jennifer Dulos homicide case.

Kent Mawhinney, who is accused of helping Fotis Dulos in the death and disappearance of his estranged wife, has been offered a plea deal in the sexual assault and violation of a protective order cases related to alleged incidents involving his own wife, Judge Laura F. Baldini said.

The terms of the potential deal were not revealed in court and the judge said it could be held up pending “discussions” in the Jennifer Dulos case. It was the first time the two cases were mentioned together.

I am afraid that what this meant was that the authorities approached KM with a proposal that involved a short sentence/no jail time on the sexual assault charge, if he assisted in the Dulos investigation, which in my opinion, he declined to do, because of his extensive involvement. While I would have been very happy to have his cooperation, it isn’t fair to KM’s wife, if this was the deal. He is a bad man, who involved himself with and surrounded himself with other bad people. And he thinks he’s a badass. He isn’t in his ultimate place in a really awful prison yet, I don’t think...it’s going to get pretty ugly for him, I think.

Notice from following link that Judge David Sheridan ruled on suspension of KM's law license a few mos ago--same judge who's called a hearing for 10/6 in the Farber trustee v. Pattis case re $250,000 retainer fee. It's almost like repertory theater.

Mawhinney is suspended from practicing law

Sad about KM's kids. Says KM was mostly an immigration lawyer. Wonder why FD chose to go to him? Was KM his divorce lawyer at one time?

KM was originally one of the lawyers (with Attorney Markowitz (who couldn't find his FD files) representing FD in the suit brought by the estate of Hillard Farber. That case was consolidated with the 4JX case.

Attorney Murray (and NP) took over representation of FD in the case after consolidation when KM's partner retired and KM moved on to immigration law.

Sadly, I think KM was even the coach for his sons' hockey team. KM has a lost a great deal. Hope he's found his sobriety.

Yes, KM's Conspiracy to Commit Murder pre-trial date is December 24th and MT's Conspiracy to Commit Murder pre-trial date is November 27th. For now. It seems that the criminal courts have quite a fluid calendar (due to Covid). It was mentioned on the local news this morning that the criminal courts are most challenged here in Connecticut, so I guess we wait and see.

Okay - I am good on both those dates. Thanks!

It’s just extraordinary—and not in a good way—how many peoples’ lives have been affected by the greed and self centeredness at the core of this case—. I hope KM is sober now and that he finds a better path. He has a chance to apologize to his children, ex wife, JFD’s kids, and all the others affected and to show he means it by what he says—and, in speaking, DOES. It won’t bring JFD back and it won’t make everything right by ANY means but in this short window, he has a chance. MOO.

OK, does this mean Hilliard Farber's estate owns the house legally? Basically?

I remember some contractors, I expect those are the subsequent encumbrancers? OR were those dismissed?

Complex, interwoven mess ole' Fd left behind:

This is the complaint Christopher Hug filed against Pattis & Smith a few days before the complaint Atty Weinstein filed against NP & his law firm. I first couldn’t find it looking for NP as party, b/c party is P & S. So this explains about the first retainer P & S took in June, when FD was charged with hindering, but not yet murder. And there are extra claims re that first one. Very interesting claims, IMO.

This is amazing. I'll need to get out my phone calculator to look at the dollar amounts.

The Green seems to keep growing for someone who often had difficulty making bail. If this case is a kettle of fish...it has started to really smell!

Particularly where it says payments were made by P&S (from the retainer funds) that had nothing to do with the representation of FD for the criminal charges.

Investigators: Dulos may have shaved head to frame colleague, new evidence could lead to Jennifer’s remains

Sept 21, 2020

920x920.jpg

Det. John Kimball of the Western District Major Crimes Unit discusses the Jennifer Dulos murder investigation at State Police Troop G in Bridgeport.

NEW CANAAN — The two lead investigators in the Jennifer Dulos case have revealed how they believe her estranged husband may have tried to frame his former employee and how new evidence with “high potential” could finally lead them to the 50-year-old mother’s remains.

In an interview with Hearst Connecticut Media, Detective John Kimball, of the state police’s Western District Major Crimes Unit, and New Canaan Police Officer Thomas Patten, provided new details into the case that rocked the New Canaan community and grabbed international headlines.

Fotis Dulos faced murder and other charges when he died of an apparent suicide in January. He was accused of attacking and killing his estranged wife in the garage of her home when she returned from dropping off their five children at school on May 24, 2019, according to his arrest warrant.

Jennifer Dulos’ body has never been found, but police say she is presumed dead based on blood and other evidence found in her garage, according to the arrest warrant.

However, Kimball said new evidence could soon lead them to a development in the case “in the relatively near future.”

“We’re actively investigating, and it’s not New Canaan, but we haven’t ruled New Canaan out,” he said of the potential location of the remains.

The 16-month investigation has generated more than 1,500 leads and many “valuable” tips that continue to come in each day.

Early in the investigation, it was Fotis Dulos’ sudden change of appearance that caught the police attention, Kimball said. In the days before the disappearance, Fotis Dulos shaved his head, possibly in an attempt to look more like his employee, Pawel Gumienny, who had closely cropped hair, Kimball said.

“Whether that was the primary reason or not, it was the end result,” Kimball said.

The story of the last time Fotis Dulos saw his children: Chocolate bunnies, a haircut, a new basketball hoop and an outdoor picnic

Feb 18, 2020

[..]

Dulos’ children immediately noticed his haircut, he had shaved his hair off. The monitor wrote that all of the children rubbed his head in the driveway. Dulos had bought a cake for dessert and he asked if Jennifer could put it in the refrigerator. The monitor observed that Jennifer took the cake from Dulos to bring into the house. Both were instances the defense could have pointed to as moments where his DNA could have been transferred.

The visit was different from the others — it was the first time Dulos was allowed past the beginning of the long driveway of her Welles Lane home and into the backyard area.

First, Dulos played basketball with his children on a new hoop that had just been installed that morning. While playing, two of the children started fighting and both Jennifer and Dulos intervened. Dulos then told his wife he was impressed with the new basketball hoop

“It was there when you parked, you just missed it,” Jennifer said.

“It is a very nice hoop and I like how it has the protection,” Dulos replied.

The hoop had in fact been installed that day by a Stratford man who was one of the last people, outside of her family, to talk with Farber Dulos.

“She was so excited to get the kids their own basketball hoop. She seemed like a very nice person,” Earl Capuano said in a recent interview with the Courant. Farber Dulos had purchased the hoop from the Darien Sport Shop, where Capuano worked.

“I talked to her a few times to set up an appointment to come to the house and where it would be best to put it,” Capuano said. “She mentioned that she was divorced but I got the impression it had just happened recently.”
