'Come back safely:' Family of missing South Windsor mother plea for her return

Her family spoke out on social media to express their heartbreak over her disappearance.

“I’m not going to give up,” Edwards’ sister, Yanique Edwards, said in a post on Facebook on Sunday. “I will search the world for you Jessica.”

The hashtag “#FindJessicaEdwards” has gained traction on social media sites. TikTok creators have helped draw attention to the case.

In a post on Facebook on May 12, TJ Hutchinson, Edwards’ husband, shared a photo of the couple with their son.

“My heart is broken right now, shattered and my emotions all mixed up,” Hutchinson’s post said. “Please please please, wherever you are come back safely.”

This young mother missing breaks my heart.

Just thinking aloud...

Possible Theories
1. Jessica left on her own free will.
2. A tragic incident occurred involving Jessica some time between 11pm-7am.
3. She got into a car at 7am, and there was an accident (wreck).
4. She got into a car at 7am, and a tragic incident of some sort occurred.

Any members have additional theories? Please share.

Of course, I feel each of these theories not to be of equal weight.

Theory #1
JMO
Normally if someone willingly disappears, it’s because they are in an unsafe or unhappy situation, they want to start anew or better, they are needing some time alone, etc.
We don’t have knowledge of Jessica’s personal life or health (physically, mentally, or emotionally) beyond the tiny little slither we may infer through social media, LE, and those close to her.
We do know Jessica is newly married and has a 7 month old son. She was days away from graduating with a degree in the medical field. Jessica has a close relationship with her family, has shelter, and transportation.

Theory #2
JMO
No one deserves this particular theory to happen to them. I pray it’s not the outcome in Jessica’s case.
Not making it any better or giving justification for it, but at times there may have been red flags or warning signs that leaned toward this theory occurring. However, sadly tragic incidents occur to people with no warning (total shock).

Theory #3
JMO
I feel with this theory, LE would have narrowed down who the friend driving the car would be by now. Yet, in the sister’s interview it was stated her friends and classmates have all been contacted.
Also, if it were an accident the wrecked car has to be somewhere.
Has anyone else been reported missing around the same time as Jessica?

Theory #4
JMO
Again, friends and classmates have been contacted. Yet, it is possible she left with someone unknown to family and friends. And in that case she could be ‘anywhere.’
But again, much like theory #1, would there be reason for Jessica to leave her family, new career, etc behind?

Search continues for missing Connecticut woman

May 18
Cleverdon said via email on Tuesday that police do not have any information about the person Edwards left home with and the person has not been identified.

Her family told NBC Connecticut that Edwards had a baby seven months ago and would never leave home without him. She was days away from graduating with a second degree, they said.

Authorities said that they searched Edwards' home and three "associated" vehicles on Friday in hopes they would find information to help them "understand what has led to Jessica's disappearance," according to a press release.

Neighborhood canvases involving K-9s and helicopters have also been conducted in the immediate area surrounding her home.

The South Windsor Police Department is working with local, state and federal agencies in locating her.

I'm trying to keep an open mind. I don't think she left voluntarily though. I can't remember any case where a mother willingly left an infant and don't think it happened here. Only perhaps when addiction was a factor and I see no signs of that here. The mayor and town manager seem to be on the case....

Police Continue to Search for Answers in Disappearance of Jessica Edwards

South Windsor Police told NBC Connecticut they continue to try and pinpoint her every move from the moment she left her mother’s house on Mother’s Day night to when she was reported missing the next day.

A spokesperson said Tuesday that detectives have been working to get access to more technological data that could lead them to the mother of a 7-month-old.

“We live in a surveillance society. There are cameras absolutely everywhere. We have an electronic footprint,” said Ken Gray, a retired FBI special agent who worked for the bureau for 24-years.

Police Continue to Search for Answers in Disappearance of Jessica Edwards

To Note
Ken Gray, a retired FBI special agent who worked for the bureau for 24-years, currently is a criminal justice professor at the University of New Haven.

While he’s not associated with Edward's case, he says as more time passes, the more suspicious this missing person case seems.

“One, they haven’t found her. Two, there has not been an arrest and if they had information that would lead them to that they would have made an arrest already,” he said.

Gray says cooperation between local, state and federal authorities is the best it’s ever been since he’s been working in this field.

Specifically, that can help them get to the bottom of a conflict he sees in this case: how her husband reported Edwards left for training Monday morning, but police say she sent a message calling out of that training earlier that day.

Gray says police probably know more than they're telling the public: for good reason.

SOUTH WINDSOR — While there were no major updates in the disappearance of Jessica Edwards on Wednesday morning, police officials said investigators continue their search for information as they pour over nearby surveillance footage.

Sgt. Mark Cleverdon said investigators continue to work diligently to locate Edwards, and stressed that police are still asking the public to provide any information that they might have on her disappearance.

@AshleyAfons
the search continues for 30 year old Jessica Edwards. Volunteers spreading out across Pope Park in Hartford.
@FOX61News

Curious the significance with Pope Park. A lead? Is it a special place to Jessica? Just searching it in general?

South Windsor police review surveillance footage in search for missing mother Jessica Edwards

Police said they believe Edwards left her home with an unknown person.

“We have not had any luck tracking down the person Jessica is believed to have left the house with, nor was there a description of the vehicle or the person who she supposedly left with,” Cleverdon said on Wednesday.

Cleverdon said as far as investigators know, Edwards does not have ties to any other state or part of Connecticut other than the Hartford area. He said there has been no activity on her cellphone, social media or financial records.

Search continues for missing Connecticut mother after suspicious disappearance | ABC6

The search continues Wednesday for a missing mother from South Windsor, Connecticut.

Police are not ruling out foul play.

Jessica Edwards, 30, was last seen getting into an unknown car about a week ago.

That same day she called out from her Clinical Class at Hartford Hospital which is something her family says she would never do.

Police have spokes to Edwards’ husband but her mother says he’s been ignoring their calls, and she hasn’t seen her grandchild.

Police are calling her disappearance “suspicious.”

They have searched the apartment where she lives with her husband but so far they have no leads.

Just my opinions...

Could she have met someone online, as a friend or otherwise? Needed to get away for a break? Possible post natal depression?

I am worried for this woman, none is this is sounding like her character that is being described. I'm hoping she needed a break and will be back soon. JMO.

Could she have gotten into an uber or a local service that is similar? Seems they could track that, though.

She was last SEEN getting into a car... but the person who saw her do this can't give a vehicle or driver description? That right there makes me question whether that's an accurate statement. Even on a dark street with no street lights, just the glow from headlights would make it possible to get an idea of the style of car (sub compact v SUV).

If my husband, who usually drove himself to work, was getting into an unknown person's vehicle... I'm gonna ask questions! Why is someone else picking you up today? Who is it? Why aren't you going to your clinical? To not do so is totally illogical and nonsensical. And I'm not a jealous wife, at all. And we have a very stable, nearly 20+ year relationship, with lots and lots of freedom from each other to do what we'd like. But still, things 'off routine' are questioned, that's just... normal. IMO.

Looking at it on Streetview and knowing I just moved from a similar complex, I don't think there are cameras unless it is a resident's personal doorbell cam.

Also looking, and I'm wondering if Wapping Park/Vintons Millpond have been searched yet? Does anyone know?

idk but they searched rye street park.

If my sister died in a car crash or God forbid was shot, it would be easier to comprehend,” Yanique said Wednesday while poking around in the brush of a wooded area off Burnham Street, a little over a mile from where her sister lived in South Windsor, looking for clues.
She must keep searching for her sister, she said. That is what she would do for her.

“I almost want to call her name out,” she said, clinging to hope that her sister is still alive.

Yanique and several volunteers scanned several areas Wednesday, using their own drones and dogs, hoping to find anything that might point to Jessica’s whereabouts as daily searches spanning three towns have so far come up empty. Unfortunately, this search would end up like the others. Still, Yanique plans to continue until she finds her sister.

She acknowledges it’s overwhelming.

“I don’t know what I am searching for,” the 26-year-old woman said. “Should I go off what I saw her last wearing?”

Yanique said the last time she saw her sister was at 11 p.m. on Mother’s Day, May 9. An email was sent around 2:30 a.m. May 10 from Jessica’s account to her professor saying she would not be in the class that day at Hartford Hospital where she is a clinical training student in respiratory care. Hutchinson told police the last time he saw Jessica was between 6:30 and 7 a.m. that morning. He reported her missing later that day.

The email puzzled Yanique, who does not believe that her sister wrote it, and thinks her sister was taken at that time.

Jessica Edwards loves car shows, her sister said, and getting dressed up with makeup even if she is not going out. But most of all, she loves spending time with her son and taking him places, she added. After several days of no contact, Yanique finally visited with Jayden in a Zoom call this week. His father and other extended family members are caring for the baby.

Holding on to hope
