The newly formed nonprofit pushing for security cameras along Iron Horse Boulevard in Simsbury is fine-tuning details of its proposal, in order to launch fundraising next month...
Massey said the idea was spurred by the slaying of Melissa Millan, 54, senior vice president of Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Co. who was fatally stabbed Nov. 20, 2014, while running on the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail.
No arrests have been made.
The Cold Case Unit in the Office of the Chief State’s Attorney in Rocky Hill is now working with the Simsbury Police Department to help solve the murder of 54-year-old, Melissa Millan, who was a Mass Mutual executive, the NBC Connecticut Troubleshooters have learned.
Everyone is being interviewed again, according to Simsbury police. Those interviews have already started.
"We are certain there were people on Iron Horse Blvd. Nov. 20th at 8 pm at the time Melissa was murdered who have not been interviewed by the police. Who have not come forward. We believe it's because they didn't realize what they saw might have any value to the police," Boyle said.
“We’ve collected a large amount of evidence, some biological, some digital, some collected at the time of the event, others collected on search warrants later. With the assistance from the FBI right from the start and assistance from our regional partners locally, Hartford Police department and State Police, a lot has been collected. The state lab has been open to reexamining items and we’ve doing that throughout this process,” Simsbury Sgt. Tom Sheehan told NBC Connecticut.
Nothing new here? possible abduction gone south? DNA evidence? too quiet for such an affluent person to be murdered and producing no suspects, imo.
The suspect lived less than two miles from the murder scene. He is a registered sex offender in Connecticut who moved to the state in 2011. He had pleaded guilty to fourth-degree sexual assault charges in his former state, according to police records.
The suspect, who The Courant is not naming because he hasn’t been charged, has no criminal record in Connecticut. It could not be determined if he was still on probation in another state. Sources said the attack appeared to be random.
Name released.
