I didn't watch GMA but I totally agree with JT. Contaminated inside and out, imo.

A defense lawyer always wants to attack the crime scene as contaminated. It casts doubt on the evidence produced by the state. OTOH, family members and neighbors were at that house and the surrounding area immediately after the child went missing. Plus they have two little kids.
We all know that it's a very difficult case and not just because the crime scene may have been contaminated.

The house is considered contaminated b/c of the media tour. All those people, equipment, everything - just adds to DNA, fingerprints, shoe prints, smudges, fibers, hairs, you name it, to the home. The lab would have to have all the DNA from everyone that entered, anyone that previously used the filming equipment, fibers from everyone's clothing, fingerprints from everyone, shoe impressions from everyone, you get the idea.

Also, anyone could remove or place anything in the home at that time. There are even more issues, but I think everyone gets it. It was a HUGE mistake.

IMO the crime scene WAS contaminated. They knew that they suspected the parents and the parents weren't trying to live there. They should not have released the house IMO. I bet my bottom dollar that JI would have even approved for it not to be released, bc they weren't staying there. They could have been escorted in to get clothes.

JMO, but if you believe the parents are guilty you don't release the house- especially from people being extremely compliant about house searches. They approved that house for searching almost every day, I do believe they would have approved it to be on lock down.

I don't think anyone is disputing that. But to put blame on the parents or suggesting that they purposely had the media, family and/or friends to the house to trample or contaminate possible evidence is over the top, imo.

If LE had sealed off the home, declared them POI's in the case, we wouldn't even be discussing this.

Wait a minute. So there's complaints that LE was singleminded and focused only on the parents, but now it's LE's fault for not being singleminded and focused on the parents, making them POI's and sealing off the home? (This is not directed at one single person, by the way).

My God, the LE just can't win here no matter what they do! This can't be had both ways. I think some here are taking what JT say as gospel, and forgetting that he is a defense attorney who is spinning things to make his clients look better. They haven't exactly been acting like innocent parents this whole time. I am not blaming LE for incompetence when they have been more than fair to these parents and giving these parents every opportunity to come clean. It's not LE's fault that they can't get past these parents. DB and JI should just clear themselves if they are innocent and stop following the advice of attorneys and people that just want to make this a nonstop media extravaganza. If someone else did this, then DB and JI need to help the investigation instead of continuing to hinder it.

It sounds to me like LE was trying to give these parents the benefit of the doubt. I think a lot of people would be screaming here if they had sealed off the home and made the parents POI's. Maybe at least the home should have been sealed, but I think LE was trying to be fair and treat this as a missing person's case, not a murder case. In fact, this still IS a missing person's case. Why seal the house if the child is missing from it? The house would only be sealed if LE knew or suspected she was murdered in it.

This really is the key point. Whether you want to absolve LE for locking down the scene or not, it says a lot about what LE thinks of the parents when in fact they did not lock the scene down.

What does that tell you about what they think of the parents? I say it again, uncooperation does not equal suspects IMO. Also, when you say they can't get past the parents, that is speculation on your part. There is no evidence or statements from LE that suggest that they 'can't get past the parents', just that they haven't submitted to every single request they've made.

kidnapping or murder, if you have evidence to do so OR the parents are willing (and I believe they were) you should lock down the house. It's your last known scene and it should be protected. Fingerprints/fibers of an intruder OR evidence of a murder are easier to find in a house that has been preserved. JMO

I think JT's reference to t trampling the scene refers to on or immediately after Oct. 4 with the presence of onlookers, media, family and whatnot, not after the scene had been searched and released.

The house was a crime scene whether it was a kidnapping or murder. The house should've been sealed off, evidence taken, finger printed, etc etc. I don't believe anyone would think anything suspicious if it was done the same day or day after. Don't come 3 weeks later with a SW that says cadaver dog hit on the affadavit and in the meantime, they allowed people in and out of the home.

I won't even get into what was described as the search. Rolling a carpet on the ground??? Really??

Yeah, I would say they screwed up big time.
