''An iPhone 3GS is not capable of making FaceTime calls,'' he [Mr Robertson] said.

''For some reason that (software) didn't function properly." hmmmmmmmmm

Toni's life wasnt easy.. it wasn't only Allison who she had to contend with, in this saga of passion and romance, there were a few others, generally from the Real Estate industry, because, of course, there they were, and it saved Gerard time and effort, receptionists at other agencies, attendees at Real Estate shindigs.. the police took statements from one who came up from Sydney to a conference, ..( the type of conferences that Toni demanded Gerard tell Allison not to go to, as she herself would be attending. didnt seem to occur to Toni herself not to go.... ) and Sydney woman and the blonde from Belle real estate apparently vied for the Gerard experience at one of these gaiety festivals. One was MH.

Ms McHugh referred to these competitors in her statement, she thought it happened when she was fired from 21century at Allisons request, and she and Gerard tried awfully hard to quell their starstruck affair.. that is, Toni did, and Gerard simply substituted. Oddly enough, Toni was a bit maddened by this.... amazing, ey?

Three alleged affairs, including a relationship with a woman named for the first time as Jackie Crane, and their impact on his troubled marriage are also detailed.

"The conversation did not go well. When I answered the phone, Gerard said, 'It's me'. I think I went straight into, 'I know what you've been doing. How could you do that to me?'

"Gerard admitted that he had been in a relationship with Jackie Crane and another woman. I basically asked him why I should give him any time to explain. Gerard agreed that he shouldn't have any time to explain.

The old contrarian in me is just wondering if the police and media (and some posters on this site) feel in any way distressed that this false information has been substantially used to destroy NBC's reputation?

Read this article again.

It's quite chilling. You might get an insight into how the police work in cases like these. Let's not be naive!
Seems to me that NBC and EBC may be owed a big, public apology?
Wonder what else they've got wrong? Feels a bit like Chamberlains all over again this case!

So, this information was known to both sides, for some time, and neither of them thought it only fair to let NBC , and the media know about it. I'm sorry, but that's just not good enough.
Bad Bad Bad. Not happy Jan !

Sometimes people can bring on the perceptions others have of them by the way they behave. The facetime call was only part of the information available. I used my eyes and ears to see how the family behaved when Allison was missing. I can tell you, if one of my family members went missing, it wouldn't matter if I was advised not to talk to the media, or if I thought it best not to be involved in searches. I would be in EVERYONE'S faces trying to find my loved one. Plain and simple. The BC's reaction in those first few days Allison went missing will stick in my mind for a very long time. Regardless of who is involved in Allison's murder, I don't believe she really ever knew how alone she was in the BC family.

the total disrespect the parents had for Allison and her family showed by their behaviour with that put on fancy 'pash'......how disgusting !!:please:

When a member of your family has been charged with an offence, in this case a horrific one, it's natural that the family is going to affected in some way. The BC's aren't the first and won't be the last. As long as someone commits these crimes then these things will keep happening.

If GBC has done this then I think HE is the one that owes his parents an aoplogy, NOT the police etc, because these people are doing their job.

She went into "hiding" a long time ago. No idea what happened to her or where she went. From memory she was quite young? Any other news on her you can share Trooper?

noooooo curious.. none at all.

All I really remember of her, she flitted across this stage so quickly and so briefly, is that she had on her face book that she loved being a mum, (??) and her picture, hence, Chinwoman.. a name that stuck on various forums.. the pic itself was dropped from the Belle Real Estate franchise up in , oh gosh. was it...not a Brizzy person, cant recall...

Yeah funny thing that huh, dont murder your wife and your parents life wont suddenly become a circus.

Sorry Mummy and Daddy.

MOO:
If a member of my family was being questioned by police, and they referred to a call that didn't exist, I would handover my phone, computer and any other device to them to back up my claim that the call didn't exist. The article states that both parents declined requests for further statements. Considering that the existence of the call would cast doubt on GBC being asleep as he stated, why wouldn't you do whatever you could to disprove the existance of the call? (Unless there was a possibility that there were other items on the phone that may be incriminating...) Just my thoughts.

No more witnesses today now. 6 witnesses tomorrow. @abcnews #BadenClay Defence barrister asked for 9.30 start. He's used to 10am starts

Personally I am in agreement with 90% of the posters here with regard to who is responsible for Allison's death. I have however, never liked the namecalling of the BC's or the Mistresses. People find themselves caught up in terrible situations brought by another persons actions. Men and women have affairs and are not completely dastardly people. Immoral, yes but murderers? No.

I keep trying to imagine how I would feel if my gut told me my son had committed a murder but he gave me the same version/s of events he gave the police. If I HONESTLY didn't know for certain. If he looked me in the eye and denied it. I would stand by him no matter the evidence or public opinion.

If they are involved then they should be brought to justice, if not then they should be allowed to live in peace.

The Dickies are amazing people, the BC's certainly haven't appealed to the media positively at all, but I really don't know what I would do or say if I were in their shoes. Culturally they might handle things differently also.

The entire situation is terrible. Parents who have lost a beautiful daughter, children without their precious Mum, friends without their dear friend and a community reeling with the scandal and tragedy of it all.

Thats how I read it too, that the Baden Clays were not helping the police with their questioning.

Most people bend over backwards if a family member goes missing. The Baden Clays did not appear to do that by all reports.... shame on them.

People who have nothing to hide........... hide nothing.

Marley, utterly brilliant find.. All I could remember was that Toni was enraged... I laughed like a drain then, and found myself collapsed here all over again , simply gobsmacked at the crazed and wierd logic ...' How could you do that to me? '... it slays me.

and of course.. it slayed Allison. Literally. I have often wondered who told Allison about Toni. but just as curious as to who told Toni about the others.. Obviously , not Gerard. Someone did, though.. someone was keeping an eye on a whole lot of loose threads...

Am I correct in thinking that in the Jill Meagher case, the hearing was cut short because there was enough to substantiate a trial (including a confession to some charges)? I know someone asked the question earlier about whether GBC's hearing could be cut short if there was enough to suggest a trial is warranted, but I can't remember what the answer was.

I think AB's lawyer might have had a little chat to him along the lines of you are going to be committed so do you want to keep going with the public hearing all this evidence.

RE the face time call:
Yeah, it's a bit like trying to prove you didn't steal your brothers $10. "If I show you my piggy bank you'll see that i didn't steal his $10... BUT then you will see the other $100 I stole from someone else."

I have however, never liked the namecalling of the BC's or the Mistresses.
The terms "Gerbil" and "Skull Manor" have been pathetic, agreed.

The entire situation is terrible. Parents who have lost a beautiful daughter, children without their precious Mum, friends without their dear friend and a community reeling with the scandal and tragedy of it all.

:tyou: for being you

Similarities to the Chamberlain case I have noticed

1. Very heightened media interest in the story

2. Certain themes/characteristics made the accused "suspicious" - Chamberlains - members of a "cult" (Seventh Day Adventists)- Baden-Clays - Scouting, Christian pastoral connection, hyphenated surname, African history etc

3. The public made very quick & damning assessments about the accused and his relatives based on words uttered under enormous pressure, questionable body language and the "correct" emotions being expressed (or not). Exactly the same thing happened to Lindy Chamberlain who was seen as distant and cold. And who incidentally was "crucified" because of her initial openness to the media. I will never forget the initial interview she did with Today Tonight (or was it 60 Minutes).

4. Police jumped to a very strong and quick conclusion and don't seem to be all that open to any other possibilities.

5. Evidence was largely circumstantial and was very strongly influenced by forensic testing which was later shown to be false!

6. Because of the huge publicity attached to the case it seems that many police and judicial careers depended on the success or otherwise of the case and this seemed to influence their objectivity in the case.

Worth thinking about IMO

Alioop, by this do you mean that they might ask him if he would rather plead guilty?
