Or maybe she made a slip of the tongue and really meant to say "Hammond"

Could "Hamilton" be in reference to a conference on Hamilton Island.
There was one held there in 2008.

Ms McHugh questioned Mr Baden-Clay about his other affairs on May 27, the court heard.

''I recall questioning him, asking for some confirmation about whether it did happen...whether it was true,'' she said.

''I told him I'd found out.

why wouldnt it be true?? how delusional could she be, really?

And the tattletale telling that went on.. People just blabbed and blurted the most repulsive stuff to anyone.. Gerards story to Toni was that someone at the school tuckshop had told Allison about their affair, Toni tells Phillip Broom this yarn, Phillip Broom doesnt believe it for a nanosecond.. Gerard actually tells the Sergeant Curtiss that morning of Allisons disappearance that an ex business partner had 'placed someone in the school tuckshop' to inform on him. and in the school of his extra curricular activities...

Someone tells Toni about the Hammond/ Hamilton/ Crane stuff. ..or a few someones tell..

I wonder why she was escorted by police? Why does she get special treatment?

Maybe she got escorted in and out of the court just to make sure she got there?

She said Mr Baden-Clay suggested they lay low because police knew of their affair.

i dont understand why they had to lay low? its not illegal to have an affair and the police and everybody knew by then, why not go to her for comfort if he supposedly loved her? .

The day that Allison was reported missing he pretended to the police that the affair had ended after Allison had found out and that he was committed to his marriage, attending counselling etc.. He also pretended that his family didn't know about it. He must have realised that the police would view an ongoing affair as a possible motive for murder. However, these lies were quickly discovered by police.

''He said he didn't want to talk about it over the phone - he wanted to talk to me about it in person.

''I kept pressing for some response.

''He reminded me of him saying to me once that there was something that he needed ... that if we were ever together ... we'd be needing to sit down and talk about things frankly and honestly and he referred to that being one of the things that we would be discussing.'' ( my italics)

Ms McHugh said Mr Baden-Clay promised to call her the following day but didn't

You couldnt make this stuff up. He didnt call the next day..well. gee. what a surprise.

Ok, I am going to try to not be sarcastic and nasty about TM but it is really hard because she is so sad now, but didnt stop to think about what her affair was doing to Allison day in day out. What she is probably feeling now is nothing to what Allison would have been feeling knowing that this woman was happy to be a mistress and flaunt the relationship with business associates. That is so disrespectful to all concerned.

if it wasnt tm, it would be someone else. gbc had obviously lost interest in allison and basicly just flatting with her, cheaper than moving out, and nice to have a family for his public image. poor allison never had a chance with him, he would always be moving on to the next fling, her self esteem wearing down year after year. i guess tm could justify the affair to herself knowing gbc didnt really love allison and was just there out of duty etc

Toni McHugh has broken down recalling a conversation she had with Gerard Baden-Clay on April 19, the day before he reported his wife Allison missing.

"That was the evening that I found out that Allison and Kate were going to be at the [real estate] conference," Ms McHugh said.

So TM finds out the evening of the 19th April Allison and Kate are both going to the conference? Or am I reading this wrong?

Correct Amee. I think this is really damning evidence that within hours of TM telling GBC to tell Allison not to go to the conference as she would be there, Allison is dead. This is likely the catalyst for Allison's death that night or a unbelievable coincidence! But GBC told both the police and TM that there was no trigger for her disappearance. Everything was fine and that she was not likely to harm herself!

I don't believe his worry about adjustment of finances in a divorce. They were insolvent so even if they went half share each in a divorce, half of nothing is nothing. Maybe that was the real worry, the insolvency. Only way to solve that was nothing to do with a divorce or working on the marriage, but a large windfall of money.

The only thing that they had that was worth anything was Allison's (and her brother's) because they had paid off a chunk of the mortgage of the house on the Gold Coast and had some equity in it.
I think that the push to divorce made GBC look at his finances and realise the only things he had that were worth anything were Allison's house (bought by her parents) and Allison's life insurance (and his, but of course that wasn't going to help him out...)

How could someone do that to an elderly parent?

Funny you should say that. The person who told me this had asked the same question from the person who knows the mum. I gathered that she is in the bad books at home too.

I feel the same way Alioop, in fact I feel like crying over the pain and sadness that all involved must be feeling and all the destroyed lives.

This is the worst I've felt for weeks, not enjoying seeing people go through such pain. I didn't expect to feel like this :tears:

I don't enjoy seeing people tormented and in pain.

Wow. You explained exactly how I am feeling. I thought I would enjoy today but I really am not at all. As I said earlier, I just feel sad.

But even whatever was GBC and Allison's equity in the house and their shareholdings still didn't make them solvent as the forensic accountant included that in her report. So they would have lost that equity too in a bankruptcy.

I wonder if Gerard ever considered the possibility that Nige might knock HIM off for his insurance?

Nige was just as broke as Gerard.. Gerard owed him money. Nige had lent hiim money, it never got paid back, but also, Nige had taken over the loan that Adam the younger brother and his wife , Nicole had made to Gerard.. $ 10.000.00... Gerard never paid Adam back, Nigel coughed up and added that sum to Gerards debt to Nige.

oh these people. NORMAL>>> ??????

She said Mr Baden-Clay suggested they lay low because police knew of their affair.

Ms McHugh made five statements to police regarding Mrs Baden-Clay's disappearance.

During one police interview, detectives told to her that Mr Baden-Clay had had affairs with two other women.

''You weren't aware of [the other women] until police told you?,'' Mr Davis asked Ms McHugh.

''I certainly wasn't aware of Hamilton [one of the women]," Ms McHugh replied.

She said she had previously questioned Mr Baden-Clay about the other woman, but believed they were just friends.

''I knew that they had a friendship and I believed it was a business relationship," she said.

''I recall questioning him, asking for some confirmation about whether it did happen...whether it was true,'' she said.

i dont understand why they had to lay low? its not illegal to have an affair and the police and everybody knew by then, why not go to her for comfort if he supposedly loved her? makes it sound like they had colluded about allison "disappearing" and didnt want to draw attention?
as well as allisons girls, i also feel sad for tms boys, they are old enough to read every sordid detail about their mother, hope they have someone supporting them through this.

I think he didn't want the rest of his 'stable of fillies' coming out - I think there were many more than we know about - I'm surprised he had any time to do anything

I have been considering why G did not want his family around when he told the police about the affair when it is very unlikely that they were not aware of it. I believe he did not want them present because he was about to lie to the police and say that it was over. This would indicate that at least his father knew that the affair was still current and possibly that G was trying to find a way to leave Allison. Hope that makes sense. I.e. he didn't want to lie in the presence of his father or sister.
