I don't believe Trump belongs in jail. His unwillingness to accept the 2020 election results isn't proof of a crime but is proof enough to me that he should remain out of political office.

Well, Trump wants to go to jail to save democracy and he thinks that’s what it’s going to take.

Let the man talk.

He wants to go to jail so the country can win- I’m all for it.

all imo

Considering what Trump has cost us its money well spent.

What has Trump "cost" the American public? My family's retirement IRA accounts thrived while he was in office and our taxes went down.

Trump has always engaged in political theater. The Judge is supposed to remain unbiased and adhere to the Judicial Code of Conduct. Taxpayers are picking up the tab for the Judge's political theater. I see nothing funny about it.

JMO

How are the taxpayers picking up the tab? The case is there regardless of who the judge is. It was a grand jury that indicted him. A grand jury is made up of citizens. Henceforth, the taxpayers were the ones who indicted him. Not a judge. Not a prosecutor. Not a DA. You're entitled to your opinion but that's all it is. The fact that you are blaming the judge and anyone else for a defendant's crimes is hilarious. It is literally laugh out loud funny. MOO.

How about a riot at the Capital or are we still excusing that behavior?

Sadly, many trump supporters are unable to actually see him objectively. They see him as a victim.
I've never been a Trump supporter but I do believe is a victim of Merrick Garland's political witch hunt being done at taxpayer expense.

BBM. Jack Smith, his army of prosecutors and the Judges are all paid by taxpayers. Prosecutors can get grand juries to indict anyone. They can be very persuasive with juries. Ever heard of wrongful convictions? Prosecutorial misconduct? Judicial misconduct? The SCOTUS threw-out Jack Smith's conviction against Republican Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell.

In studying economics one would find there area myriad of factors affecting such things such as how those financial instruments were acquired originally and what their content and contributions are so that’s simplistic.

If actually doing well, like Trump says he is, one wouldn’t be worried about taxpayer money because Trump and friends don’t pay their share of taxes.

Taxpayers pay Judges salaries in United States.

The Judge pays taxes too. Probably at a good rate.

At this point he does not belong in jail for his alleged crimes- a jury will determine whether he is guilty or innocent of the allegations. However, he has thumbed his nose and gave the finger repeatedly to the courts: Making threatening and absolutely vile comments about the judges and prosecutors. Any other defendant would have been thrown in jail for a few days for this outrageous behavior, but not Trump: he has been treated deferentially - he has been treated as a defendant who is above the law. It is disturbing.

If anything, Garland has been too slow and timid to investigate and prosecute Trump.

So is your argument that we shouldn't prosecute certain people accused of crimes because there have been cases of wrongful convictions, prosecutorial misconduct, and judicial misconduct in the past? If not, then what does that have to do with this case? I should look at cases involving prosecutors that have had previous convictions thrown out by SC and immediately dismiss them as witch hunts, political stunts that waste taxpayers money? Okay, good to know.

Now there is the the is the truth---'' Garland was not going to prosecute those cases initially but there was much discussion within the DOJ before Trump was indicted for Jan 6 and the documents cases---IMO GarlandTook too long to bring the indictments putting those cases on a collision course with the election---Garland Would have made a better supreme court judge as opposed to an attorney general. He is a wimp.

Of course!

What will an appeals court — or the Supreme Court — do?

How Trump’s appeal of the gag order will fare is far from clear, since there’s little legal precedent involving defendants challenging gag orders imposed on them in criminal cases — and there is no precedent involving a defendant who is simultaneously running for president.

Seems to me that once a judge issues a gag order that should stand-
Why should there even be an appeal?
He is going to lose this appeal
He is toying with the court-- as usual
And, what difference does it make if he's running for office? That makes absolutely no difference. He can speak on the campaign all he wants...without threatening witnesses, court employees, etc.

So tired of this going round and round and round and round and round again.

I know it is horrible
A normal defendant would adhere to the gag order and shut up
And no appeals
IMO Trump is vile

he was just speaking in Iowa and said how much he loves Iowa, but that he wouldn't love it if he hadn't won there

Audience roared in appreciation.

Ummm... ok. he insulted you to your face. insinuated he was using you. but ok.
That’s because it is a freaking cult.
