i think “foe” is a pretty apt autocorrect for “tie”! As if Trump arrives at court on the red carpet, reporters could ask “Who are you wearing?” Trump could reply “I’m wearing George Conway” or “Chris Christie.”ack autocorrect!! what tie he will wear
BBM. Yes, my opinion about Smith has changed. I didn't realize Garland didn't name Special Prosecutor Smith until one week after Trump announced he was a 2024 candidate. The timing smacks of politics directly from the White House. Now, don’t pull a switcheroo.I was replying to your comment about the GEORGIA indictments. You said: “ABC News has multiple reporters covering it because it is so obviously political.” I simply challenged your assertion that multiple reporters indicated that the Georgia indictments are political. My reply had nothing to do with Jack Smith’s investigation. In the past I recall that you indicated that you did not believe Smith was political in contrast to Willis, but I guess now that’s changed. However, Smith’s investigation is OT for this thread, so we won’t continue discussing the news media’s request here. It belongs on the Smith thread.

The fact that Garland appointed a special prosecutor after Trump announced his candidacy is the exact OPPOSITE of politics. Because Trump was now a candidate Garland felt it was appropriate to move the investigations from the DOJ to an independent prosecutor.BBM. Yes, my opinion about Smith has changed. The media want the information unsealed about Trump's Twitter account. The Georgia indictments used Twitter information in the indictment of 19 people.
The law is the law no matter what court is involved. I think an overwhelming majority of the public and the press all want TRANSPARENCY in our courts. I made it clear it was my opinion. I'm glad there will be cameras in the courtroom in the Georgia case.

Fulton County, Ga., District Attorney Fani Willis (D) noted 12 of former President Trump’s tweets as part of her case charging Trump for his efforts to remain in power following the 2020 election.
The indictment lists more than 150 alleged acts that prosecutors say all contributed to a conspiracy to overturn Georgia’s election results, and a dozen of them comprised a Trump tweet.

He's just projecting, again. IMOHow is she a "failed district attorney"?
I think it's gone already.Funny (kind of) side note. I was watching Fulton County Bond Hearings this morning. One of the defendants was alleged to be a gang member and was involved in a violent attack with multiple charges. In the hearing the Prosecution asked for a very high bond. The Defense Attorney argued that the bond was unrealistic since DJT’s bond was only $200k. The Pros snapped back “he’s not the leader of a violent street gang.” Def quickly responded, “ That’s debatable.”
I don’t want to put the the link bc the stream will be deleted is a few days. If you want to see it, it is Judge Alex Manning on YouTube. The stream should be bond hearings for 8/21/23.
Completely ignoring the Trump issues…The backlog in Fulton is of epic proportions. How is she a "failed district attorney"?

They started 2022 with a backlog of approx 140,000 cases. Currently there are approx 35,000.
This is despite creating a special initiative, hiring retired Judges whose sole purpose is to hear these cases and clear this backlog.Project ORCA: Cases (Version 4)

One of the major reasons it hasn’t been cleared quicker is delays from the prosecutors office. I’ve mentioned it before in the thread related to the inmate death, but you frequently see bond hearings with defendants who have been incarcerated for up to 700 days without indictment.
Yet, they have tied up half a dozen prosecutors and 20+ defense attorneys who they failed to secure adequate compensation for, in the YSL trial to prove one fAmous rapper may or may not have been connected to the murder of one person. In a county where there were just under 3500 murders last year within Atl city limits alone.
So….while I wouldn’t use the term “failed” because of the finality it implies, she’s definitely not getting any smiley face stickers on her report card IMO.
That’s exactly what trump has been peddling like snake oil since 2015!Exactly!! <modsnip> I no longer trust our elections,FBI,or the DOJ.
At least they aren't asking regular folk across America to pay for this, a few well-earned bucks at a time. I'm surprised.@ShaneGoldmacher
NEW: Trump will headline a $100,000 per person fundraiser for Rudy Giuliani’s legal defense on 9/7.
You say one of the reasons it hasn't been cleared quicker is because of delays from the DA's office but according to the graph in your link - the district attorney began with 16,300 open and active cases and currently has 1,723 (I excluded the numbers for Superior Court, State Court, Magistrate Court and the Solicitor General because why would they be included in the prosecutor's perview anyway?). I mean, I think that's actually pretty good all things considered? But maybe I'm reading it wrong.Completely ignoring the Trump issues…The backlog in Fulton is of epic proportions.
