Relisha's spirit in and of itself has been like the flower blooming from the pavement - already proof miracles exist. Her beautiful soul has managed to find a way to take the bits and pieces of love and care (I imagine from her teachers and the other special people in her life who truly and appropriately cared for her), and fight for existence despite an environment that would be inhospitable to others.

If anyone is capable and worthy of a miracle, it is Relisha. I am with you SCHMAE. I am wishing it, with every fiber of my being. For a child who deserves it more than any other....

I need to know where that body was found. In some janitor closet little used utility room or somewhere public could access. If a non accessible place how did HE access it?

Anyl loving well intentioned mother,who has their 8 yr olds best interest as most important, would kick this janitors interest of Relishaa$$ to the curb and report him to the shelter or authories as suspisious behaviorIMO. Then when they are called out on missing school, janitor Tatum becomes Dr, Tatum per Gramma giving name and phone #, total lie. Meanwhile Relisha is no where to be found, but supossedly went to a medical convention, for what? Then SY cliams her family had Relisha.. Does this family not realize when you lie and constantly change your story the LE see's you like this :liar:, and they have reason to believe you are involved up to your drugged eyeballs. JMO

I think SY's defense will be that she had placed trust in KT and she too is a victim . even if you give her that - she has never offered why she was keeping Relisha out of school and having KT pose as a doctor. If Relisha was sick why not take her to a real doctor? What was Relisha doing on those days off that SY felt was so important over school? These are the questions I am interesting in seeing her respond.

KT had to work so who was watching Relisha those days? I wonder if Relishas days off coincided with days KT took off or if she was left with Andrea or someone else.

It would have to be 21st or later, since there was internet activity. I keep wondering if the shelter had an arrangement with the park for storage facilities. We saw the picture with all those keys and often, agencies work together to help each other out, a little. That's all I can figure, if he got in there without breaking in.

Yes, every time thoughts come into my head about more innocent possibilities I get mad at the thought that any of them deserve any credit at all. But, although I cannot understand the situation as a whole, I can understand pieces of it, if I try to forget what we know now.

Here is what I am saying- prior to this big bad event, there was some nice interaction. Those of us who are observant and aware know that "grooming" is nice and kind and is designed to win trust and admiration. And it went on for quite a while! 18 months is a long time.

I am an only parent. I try to put myself in the situation where an older couple (not only a man!- it was him and his wife!) are around a lot with their children (who seem quite normal) and grandchildren. They have a child my son's age and they have played for over a year! I would probably have no problem letting him go places with them and their grandchild. They have earned trust and been around a long time!! It was reported he dressed nice, was kind to everyone and I will bet no one knew about his criminal past. He was employed by a state run (?) homeless shelter, after all!

As for him handing out money and gifts, I also can see where this wouldn't necessarily raise red flags (until later when something bad happened). I was the Associate Director of a mental health agency for 16 years. I had an older lady who worked as a staff member for us for many years. Her husband worked and made lots of money. She drove a Lexus and came to work every day for $7 an hour, with the favorite snack of each person (a pickle, a bag of pretzels, a pouch of Kool-Aid, etc) every day! It was not sinister! She worked for the love and joy she could give! I LOVED that staff member and think of her and her kindness often! Our individuals LIVED in our homes. They were part of our families. Many did not have family and my staff were all they had. They would go to holiday dinners with them and parties and were so happy to be included and loved. It touched my heart that these people who we provided services for were accepted and loved, some for the first time in their lives! I would not change that or the smiles and genuine joy both my staff and my people we served experienced. And we never had a bad experience with it. I wanted my "clients" to feel like they were worth more than only people who were paid to tolerate them.

It is much easier now that something bad has happened to say "I would never" or something the same. But, you might have. I might have. NO! I am not saying I would have not checked on him after 3 weeks. I would have checked on him after 3 hours! But, some of it, I can see how it evolved.

Please, don't start with the "but she didn't... well, he... her lies say...". I know. I get it. I have followed this case and know all those points very well. They are both horrible and never deserved Relisha in their lives for one second. I am not defending the actions as a whole. I am just trying to give a real life glimpse into how SOME of those things could have happened without much alarm by others.

yes I totally agree - all of those things make sense and con artists are pros. If we all had hindsight or could identify a criminal on the spot - the world would be a much safer place. But I still go back to SY keeping Relisha home from school . At that point if someone asked me to keep my child home or didn't take her to school - they no longer have her best interest at heart. I would also question why they were singling out my daughter when I have other children. I just think there were too many signs to ignore and SY didn't care enough for Relisha. She wanted to party and those children were often second in line.

Something that bothers me and keeps whirling around in my head …. if KLT was grooming children either to make actual movies or be sold to someone else who would make the movies , which is what I think he may have been doing; where was he doing this. .. Using motel rooms seems to be a rather risky idea since he had to know that there would be some type of security cameras, if only in the lobby of these places. The only way using a motel would not be risky was if he was positive that no one would be looking for him.

So I went back a re-watched that the video from the hotel on 2/26. It shows KLT with some type of badge or ID hanging around his neck. That got me thinking about what that would be for.

A lot of places, if using a card key system have a combined ID badge/door key. The newer card key systems work the same way as keyed alike doors, except that instead of a key cut to move the pins it is done by an electronic signal that has been programmed into software. Its suppose to be a cheaper system in the long run because you don’t have to keep re-keying door locks or replacing keys, plus if an employee just up and leaves you can change the electronic pins and they can’t get back in without a new key card.

He was a janitor at the shelter, once used as a hospital. Would this shelter have been retro-fitted from regular key door locks to a card key system? It’s not cheap to retro-fit; about $3000 t0 $5000 per door. That leaves me to think that this shelter was still using regular door keys and then that means if it’s the old way, janitors typically always had lots of keys because they needed to be able to access a lot of different doors.

Basically some keys were specific to one lock, but most buildings had multiply locks that could be opened using one key… a pass key. That also meant there may have been locks in other buildings that the same pass key would also work, especially if a school district, hospital or governmental agency controlled more than one building. More places that he could have taken Relisha. He was going to work every day, and he didn’t have her with him so he had to be keeping her somewhere.

Wasn’t there a news report that someone had told a reporter that he had seen KLT at a shelter building down near the Aquatic Park? It was later mentioned that the building was no longer being used as a shelter.

I hope that every place that he had a key and/or key card has been searched and they have looked into whether there may be other older buildings or shelters that may have used the same pass keys. Apartment buildings also used door lock systems set up so that a single pass key can be used for emergency entry to any apartment and most of they just rotated door locks after tenants moved out. (which basically meant that anyone who never returned their key after moving out could come back and try his key in all of the locks until he found the one that it now opened ---happened to me years ago when I caught a former tenant using his old key that opened my door lock)

March 2nd-KT buys the garbage bags, shovels, and lime at the nearby Home Depot.
He spends a few hours at the park.
He goes about his life. . .work, etc.

March 10th-school reaches out to "Dr."Tatum and he gives some song and dance about her absences.

March 13th- SY and grandma also lie to school about Relisha being under the care of Dr. Tatum. It appears that this may be swept under the rug.

March 19thTatum continues to go to work.
Social worker shows up at the shelter to meet with "Dr. Tatum."
KT takes off.
KT drives to Richmond and back. I believe to acquire a firearm.
KT turns off his phone.
KT and his wife check into the Red Roof Inn. I believe he was thinking they were going to run together. But I imagine his wife had questions, didn't want to take off, figured out what happened to Relisha, etc. They had an altercation and he shot his wife.

March20th-KT gets a ride from Lyles from Red Roof Inn to a Metro station. Idk, what happens next, other than he might be trying to clean his tracks, make plans, etc.

March 21st is the last activity on his debit card. He could have been in the park anytime after that. Maybe not. . .maybe he was trying to hide out, trying to find some help, who knows. But I imagine he was becoming more despondent. He killed his wife of 20+ years. I imagine he knew he had nowhere to run.

When the reporter asked her what she would say to KLT, SY just said she had a lot of questions to ask him. And the way she said it, she didn't look worried about Relisha at all. SY did not make a plea for KLT to return Relisha unharmed. SY is more interested in covering her a$$ and what the public thinks of her, no love, worry,concern or guilt about Relisha at all!

I think this action is how many pedophiles/abusers act.

mpnola, one of Tatum's earlier (unsuccessful) careers was a thief with plenty of experience with B & E. He had many charges/events of this in Virginia Circuit Court.

Look at her, she's 8 years old! She's so full of life! Look at her, dancing for all she's worth! She's got little siblings she's got to take care of. Her mom was doing her best to keep her in school, take her children to school, and they befriended Tatum, 51 year old Karl Tatum. He was known for flashing $20 bills, and giving them to the children and the moms there in the community where they lived. So the moms didn't think anything of it, when the little girl was gonna go play with Tatum's granddaughter.
