re: timeline

Won't comment re: specifics.

We had good reliable verified info that led us to believe that this was a place that we needed to search. Not simply a tip with nothing to support it.

After Bonita Jacks, are you frustrated after that case?

We can't be in everybody's home, we can't be sure that every parent does what they're supposed to do. If a child isn't seen after a period of time that people notice. The very late start is very difficult to catch up.

We hope she's still alive - we hope she's still alive (nodding).

Lanier: #RelishaRudd was missing for so long before reported, led @DCPoliceDept to 'very late start' in search, hard to catch up now.

re: landfill search

you're looking at landfills that are extremely hazardous due to methane, but also due to depth (15 feet) - and rarely result in recoveries, even if we had the resources, which we don't.

Thank you.

End of presser

Chief Lanier looks bothered. I could never work in law enforcement. I'm just too sensitive.

The Chief does look frustrated and like she knows those out there involved may be watching - I like the way she says more people to talk to and more photos to come...I hope some people are nervous right now and cracks start to show..

Welcome paintedred. Great first post. So sorry for what you went thru but glad u came out the other side :seeya:

:welcome5:

Thank you kindly - The positive is I became the Mother I wish I and others had, it makes up for all the hurt.

I really feel by reading all the WS posts throughout this, that Relisha finally has the love she deserves, this case has played heavily on my heart and soul, to read so many comments from people taking the time to find out what's what and supporting her really brings me comfort. I check constantly and my heart has been in my mouth many times.. You're all great folks.

She didn't really say he didn't leave the area, though. She said he didn't ;eave the area, except those that we talked about in the beginning that weren't too far away. That means the Richmond trip/ reason still stands and was Relisha really with him, as reported.

I don't want to think that the options we were discussing in the social media thread are viable, but each day that passes puts me slightly leaning more toward that (trafficking).

Is it horrible that I am excited for them to release info about new people and they want the community's help??? Come on. Give us a tiny bone and we will try to dig up the dinosaur!

As gross as this is, I think you just convinced me more of the trafficked theory. :( Perp is dead so anyone who wanted to protect HIM would have no reason to do so now. He's caught, self served justice, etc., whatever you want to call it. But if he's the only actor in this case, then why would no one come forward now? :( I think that points to more perps......

Welcome, fellow newbie! Thank you for sharing your story in your first post. I know such things go on in the world, but your post was a real eye-opener. I'm sorry you went through that, but I'm happy you survived it!

BBM. Yes, I hope some people are nervous now, they should be! SOMEBODY knows SOMETHING, and they need to start cracking and help find this baby!

WHERE is Relisha?!

If she said she's confident he didn't leave the region, I'd think the supposed Richmond trip didn't happen. We consider this region to be the DMV (DC, Maryland, and Virginia), but only the parts that are along the inner and outer loop of the Beltway, meaning Northern VA, DC, and parts of southern MD that are directly adjacent to DC (Montgomery Co, PG Co, etc). This is all within a very limited radius. Richmond is over 100 miles away and we definitely do not consider it to be part of the DC region.

Slightly O/T - watching ID and heard out of the corner of my ear :blushing: the word "lime"

Murder of 20 year old Andrew Dotson (the lime comes from the movie "Goodfellas" :thud: )

The show is "Fatal Witness" and here's the transcription from the end :
(male voiceover): Oh, and one more thing, Jim. Turns out you can't learn everything you need to know about getting away with murder from gangster movies (shows a man grabbing a bag of lime)

Prichard (Asst, Prosecutor): Conway, perhaps in some sort of tribute to his GoodFellas attachment, decided that it was a good idea to pour lime on (victim)'s body. There are two types of lime. One type of lime speeds up decomposition. The other type of lime acts as a preservative.
Conway chose the wrong kind.

Lowe (DA): The body was so well preserved, Dr. Fardal was able to say at the trial that, "Yes, this is the type of weapon that was used." Which corroborated Mike Arthur's testimony. The preservation of the wound, and the wrong kind of lime, was some of our best evidence, and we appreciate Jamie Horton and Jimmy Conway for doing that.

Fatal Witness: A Mother's Revenge
ETA: FOUND IT:
here's the link to Part 7

:moo: (speculation) could klt have gotten the wrong information about lime - based on the Goodfellas movie? Or from his previous time behind bars (or both)? Then, purchased the wrong chemical? Another awesome WSer mentioned on the previous thread that lime can be used for pickling (i.e. preserving).

I need to catch my breath. The coincidence of this is almost too much for me.

Hey all.

The fact that he continued to work there whilst Relishas family - who would have seen him everyday, and if they thought he had her would have been in regular contact - all carried on their daily lives, shows you it was an uneasy truce somehow.

Mothers who do this have disconnected emotionally from their child, they may say the right thing - barely - sometimes, or they convince themselves through guilt that they are good parents - because in their minds , they are. Its all denial and a mind set that normal people just cannot fathom or understand.

It is easy for a groomer and manipulator to control a situation like this, certain families with different morals to others - can be bought easily.

I don't feel she has been sold on now, she is a very 'hot' subject as far as the crime, the news , the reward and publicity goes- someone is now missing her and she is traceable and would know too much, long term sale savvy abusers prefer a child who is not going to be missed much be it either though neglect or easy access and there is usually some co-operation , family wise. It is how they get the longevity out the child. Relisha would be too much trouble for them to have in their hands.

Phew. Sorry for the length ...there's been so much I wanted to comment on at so many times that I had to get the initial feelings off my chest...Anyway, pleased to meet you all and I very much admire and enjoy reading all your postings on WS.:seeya:

snipped and bolded by me (BBM). This is what I have tried to get across in the few posts i have made on this case (followed diligently though).

It is a whole different mindset and lifestyle with some, one that we won't understand unless someone like you explains it in easy terms. They don't think they are bad mothers or in fact very different from people around them (and they aren't very different from people around them because water finds its own level and it can start in childhood as far as what is normal and what is not. i.e having family or friends who have been in jail a few times is a norm for some and they know them as decent or nice people in a lot of cases, just thieves or fighters or have bad tempers etc. they dont realize most of the world doesn't think or live that way)

which is why i don't necessarily think the family KNEW anything, even if mom did - and I could see a situation like you described with the woman in your case. Often these women are groomed as much as the children are, made dependent and believe in the poi's who take their children.

It can be generational knowledge too of a what is "normal".
