Identified! DE - Bear, WhtFem 16-25, UP7097, pregnant, in laundry bag, Mar'67 - NamUs removed

If makeshift, was it from a curtain, shirt..ect. That could be evidence alone.

I would think if she died in her own home or relatives\friends place, they would just call the police. ..but to transport and (dump) her body..nude at that, seems to imply that the person thought they themselves would get into trouble and that they had little to no emotional connection to her.

Wonder what the purpose was with using the laundry bag at all....they only covered up her lower half and she was nude.
The red hair ribbon...do we know if it was actually a hairtie or a piece of ripped fabric someone used as a makeshift hair tie?

Gosh, I think I've seen pictures of the hair tie before. I believe that there were many more photos in Namus than are currently public... anyway, if I recall, it really did look like a hair ribbon. Like she got up in the morning and wanted to make her hair a little prettier by tying a ribbon around it. So sad.

I wish they would go back and question the people who denied being related to her. How long ago was that? Maybe, if true, they would be willing to talk.

IMO Because she was nude (indeed strange to use a laundry bag just to cover up the lower half of the body, Sweetluv) my feeling says this was not done by somebody who had a emotional attachment to her. I sounds horrible but maybe they put the laundry bag there not wanting to make the vehicle dirty.

I think you're probably right.

I recall that also, why did they remove them from the public? does namus have alot of graphic photos in private mode not available for the public?

I think they make a lot of images available to law enforcement agencies that are not available to the public. In some cases that makes sense, i.e. In case there is evidence that only a killer would know, but I don't know why they would have hidden the photos of this Doe. They were post-mortem but not particularly graphic.

Yes, they do. There are a lot more images viewable by persons with LE access.

CarlK ,Since Hal Brown retired, do we know who is handling this case now? I live 10 min from Bear, DE so this case is special to me.

Some states, like California, have laws regulating the display of post-mortem and other crime photos. Don't know if Delaware is one of them.

I don't think so. The medical examiner is the one who originally uploaded the photos, made them public, brought the case to the attention of Websleuths, etc.

Somebody transported her to the area where she was found and someone fathered that unborn baby. I wish this case would be put back out there to generate attention.

Good point. I wonder if they have any blood samples and what condition they are in. It is now possible to pick up fetal DNA and separate it from maternal DNA, so it's a long shot, but maybe it would be possible to get some of the father's DNA and identify him.

I wonder if she was transported by the van associated with the laundry company? That would explain why her lower half was put into the laundry bag. While transporting her to Delaware, if pulled over, an officer wouldn't find anything (suspicious) looking. If so, what was the company or drivers, connection to her? Ashame the company is no longer there. Do we know if the authorities went to the laundry company when her body was discovered?

Maybe a long shot but I think she could be Henrietta Avila, who disappeared in 1960 at the age of 15. When you put her photo on NAMUS next to the sketch of Delaware Doe...it's almost identical. Also, height and weight are pretty consistent and Henrietta has the wispy hair around the hairline/forehead just like the doe.

Considered her also, quit recently (2016) added to Namus and interesting

Here is another file....... http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/a/avila_henrietta.html

JD is stated white, actually she has the Spanish(mixed) look to me (JMHO) ....Henrietta Avila Spanish/Latino....don't know how accurate the info of Jane Doe is....

Wow...close resemblance.

  • #379
There is a similarity and statistics match up . I'm a Delaware native and would love to see this case solved.

Jane Doe has DNA submitted as does Henrietta, can’t be her as CODIS would have a match.
