I thought of that also! But I pictured her being ill in bed, maybe fever, thus no clothes. Passed away but prob someone with her panicked. I don't get the bag tho. It wasn't big enough for her whole body to fit into, only her legs. Why even bother with it then?? I often think of the type of hotels back then along Rt.40. Small, cheap, prostitutes a little further north. Truckers passing thru. Was she traveling with one of them & that was a resting stop? Still the bag makes little sense to me. And what happened to her clothes? Why not discard them with her?

My thought on the bag is that the person(s) who transported her used it, don't wanting to dirty the car. About the clothes..don't know, maybe they disposed of her stuff later in another way.

I'm thinking whoever transported her knew of the attempted abortion. That's why they put her underwear on and a laundry bag on her lower half. I would suspect it this was performed by someone (medical), they would have used instrumentation, not chemicals. Seems more of a homemade method she prob used herself. This would also make me think she wouldn't have to travel out of state to do this. Plus, that area in Bear,DE was desolate...the person was familiar with the area.

That would mean he was already starting at the age of 35....nothing is impossible.

That's been tossed around previously. Certainly nothing to rule it out.

This case is so tricky because she could have been transported from any number of states along the I-95 corridor. Could have been from NJ, or even a bit farther up north in NY or even New England. As others have mentioned, Maryland is just a hop, skip and a jump south from where the body was found, so you've got a lot of possibilities. Though, I think that the laundry bag from NJ is a big clue that she, or the person who dumped her - or both of them - came from NJ. Trenton area most likely, but it's a tough call.

Has Mary Kathryn Greene been ruled out? I don’t see here on the rule out list. Brown hair, missing December 1966. She is listed as 5’8”. The original news paper article lists the UID as 5’5”. Thoughts?

Missing Person Case

I believe both have DNA in the system so most likely not a match.
Mary's car was also never found, so I'm thinking she ended up in a body of water with it.

I agree, many of those missing in their vehicles end up in water. Though we might have left to handle her situation and the vehicle was disposed of later.

That's a possibility about the car, too.

Her cause of death has been changed to Septicemia (sepsis/blood infection). The previous belief of a botched abortion was mistaken, and her and her baby died as a result of not getting medical attention for an untreated infection. It says so on her Doe Network profile 743UFDE

What baffles me about this case is that she was linked to family members in Virgina and North Carolina through DNA genealogy sites and none of the relatives know who she is. Is it possible DNA Doe Project could take on her case and figure out those loose ends? Only thing I can think of is she was adopted and the blood family was in the dark. Like a scenario of a unwed teen mother who was discreetly sent to a girl's home until she gave birth. Doe's birth would have been in the 40's or 50's where that happened due to stigma of unwed pregnant girls. I've seen cases like that on Unsolved Mysteries.

Another thing that gets me is why she wouldn't get medical attention for an infection (especially while pregnant) if she was noted as taking very good care of her teeth and had visited a dentist recently prior to her death. Also if she died from natural causes than why did someone dump her body like her death had been in a criminal matter? Maybe the father of her child was controlling and refused to allow her to seek medical treatment or some other reason like her being underaged or at one time was a runaway that's case was later closed. There was a case of a missing girl that ran away to live with an adult boyfriend at 16 years old. She started using an alias and they posed as a married couple. They later had a daughter and he killed his 'wife' after an argument and concealed her body under their trailer. When she was found and he was arrested she was buried under her alias. It wasn't until years later that she was discovered to be a missing teen, if my memory is correct it was her daughter that found relatives names when she was going through her mother's belongings. I can't recall her name but her story makes me think of a scenario that could have happened to this Doe.

She wasn't linked to Family in VA and NC through DNA genealogy sites.

There was a mitochondrial DNA hit on her in CODIS. A mitochondrial hit is not as definitive as an autosomal (nucDNA) hit. The common maternal ancestor could be their mother, or their 10th great grandmother who lived 400 years ago. mitochondrial DNA results cannot estimate the proximity of the relationship.

And the relatives connected to her by mtDNA were in Trenton, New Jersey. Not VA or NC.

I'm leaning toward the adoption scenario.
