Hi everyone! I am from the local area and very familiar with this case.

The laundry bag originated from American Laundry and Dry Cleaning Co. located at 328 Perry St in Trenton, NJ. The address was printed on the bag.

Early in the investigation, police received a tip that she was from the New England area and traveled to Delaware to have the abortion. This information was reprinted in most of the articles I could find on the case.

In the late 90s, a local newspaper ran an article on unsolved homicides and this Jane Doe received a brief mention. No new information, except that there were suspects and all are now deceased.

A new recon was created by The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. I am *attempting* to attach the image (lol), but here is a link just in case:

Have you seen this child? JANE DOE1967

:)
Bombshell I remembered something about NH & New England states so did a search. You & I both commented about it years ago! So whatever info they had so long ago may be panning out now with missing girl from NH not reported in Namus? While I hope this can be solved, it's so frustrating that not all info was provided at the time, or even later, as an update in the case.

See post #472.
(The Hal Brown mentioned in Bombshell's post is the Deputy Director of the Forensic Sciences Laboratory at Delaware’s state medical examiner’s office.)

ETA: Where Hal Brown got Janice Taylor from, I do not know, but since he is an official, we just have to trust he got it from a credible source!

I thought Hal Brown retired...is he still actively working cases?

Her name is Janice Taylor from Warner, NH. I have a picture of her but not sure if I’m allowed to post it here? She is not in Namus.
Can you give us her age maybe?

Jane "Bear" Doe

Date found: March 18, 1967

Location found: Porter Road, Glasgow

Estimated age: 16-25

Sex: Female

Race: White

Hair color: Brown

Eye color: Brown

Estimated height: 5'2"

Estimated weight: 110 to 115 lbs

More information: On March 18, 1967, this unidentified female's body was found off the shoulder of Porter Road, a rural area in Glasgow. She was approximately 16-25 years old, with long, curly, dark brown hair and brown eyes. She was petite in stature. With reasonable certainty, her bra size is estimated to be 34DD. Her ears were pierced, but it did not appear she had worn earrings in quite a while. She had a vaccination scar on the front of her left thigh; no other scars or distinguishing marks were observed. Her teeth contained several restorations, and were in very good repair, suggesting that she had seen a dentist within a year prior to her death. Recent ancestry testing suggests she may be of European, Italian, Greek or Jewish descent. Her legs were stuffed inside a large cloth commercial laundry bag, which was determined to be from a laundry and dry cleaning company in Trenton, New Jersey. She was found wearing only a pair of blue bikini panties, and a red ribbon, which tied her hair back. She was transported in a vehicle from an unknown location, quite possibly from another state, and was dumped along the side of the road. It is estimated that she died March 17 to March 18, 1967, within 24 hours of being found.

Thousands of children go missing every year. Here are several from Delaware.

I can't get over how much this Doe looks like my best friend... obviously, there is no connection, since my friend wasn't even born yet. But still, I look at her face, and seeing the resemblance just kills me.

She was somebody's best friend.

I will pray for her.

Hi Alwayscoffee, would you like to share some info about your friend, for instance her etnicity, what were her roots.

Well, that's a bit of a mystery, actually. She knows she's caucasian and German, but she's olive-toned like this Doe and is pretty sure she might be Jewish. Someone with a PhD in Jewish genealogy once told her "oh yeah, you definitely have Jewish roots somewhere, no question about it." I've guessed Romany as a possibility for her as well.

Her mother, who she resembles, can trace her ancestry back to the American Revolution. I don't know how helpful that fact is, but I guess it could be possible that she is long lost family of the decedent.

My friend is interested in a DNA kit to find out for sure. I am too, but we're both kind of broke. I'm not sure if she's interested in opting into GedMatch, but she has asked me for some pros and cons of that option since I am major true crime trash.

Once I'm able to, I'd like to do a kit myself. If my DNA can bring closure to a grieving family, I think it would be great. Actually, I think the Vernon County Jane Doe-- the elderly woman in Wisconsin who was bludgeoned to death in the '80s-- resembles some relatives on my mom's side. My great great grandfather had addictions to both gambling and sex, so I've always assumed he'd fathered lots of illegitimate kids, though I don't know how DNA could help if this lady had no connection to our family.

All this time, and never ID...so sad. The laundry bag, I feel, is the only piece of evidence that holds importance. It was from NJ which borders DE, and the person who transported her had access to it, but how? Did they work there..or did she die at a motel that used that laundry service? Maybe she was transported in the laundry services van? This case is so old I wonder how easy it would be to try and track down former employees....and how much investigating was done at that time?

Wish this case could get some attention!!
What about the fetus/DNA?
Could be run for a possible match to the father??

Tomorrow, I'm going to try to get in touch with someone assigned to this case. I'm from Delaware and curious to know just where this case stands. So sad :(

Buried in the thread, it was mentioned that they only had a DNA sample from the UID because some of her heart muscle had been retained after the autopsy.

It makes me sad when I read cases like this where members of the decedents family have been located but even they can't make an identification.

Could this possibly be Mabel Chambers?
Mabel.png Mabel2.png Jane Doe.png
Mabel May Chambers – The Charley Project
Missing from Wilmington, DE since "sometime in 1952"
- 31-year-old white female
- 5'4", 130 pounds
- Light brown hair, hazel eyes

Wilmington is about a 15-20 minute drive from where Jane Doe was found. Mabel's age is approximate and it's above the estimated age of JD, but everything else seems to match up well enough. Their facial features and bone structure are very similar in my opinion. The curly/wavy hair too,

It's hard for me to tell about her teeth even though there is a really good photo of Mabel's. If she had work done just prior to her death, they may appear differently than they do in that photo.

Yes I submitted Glenda Tedball to the Namus contact for this JD.

Tedball was killed by her mother in a botched abortion attempt. The mother for many years, said her daughter was missing, so the actual "last seen" date on Tedball's Doe Network page may very well be incorrect. The poor girl's body was never found. (See post#8 on this thread for the story.)

Jane Doe’s maternal line is definitely Italian.

Hal Brown retired a long time ago but still researches this case and others. After a series of scandals, the Delaware Medical Examiner’s office was turned over to the Division of Forensic Science, so that’s who you would need to contact.
