kbl--You know that I'm not going to defend this beast. Not gonna do it. However, I am going to step up to the plate for the Dad who minimized his daughter's complaint about Dr. Bradley. You must have missed my post on this thread earlier. If you can't forgive him and cut him some slack, you can't do it for me either.
My daughter, deaf, IQ of 50, cerebral palsy, spectrum disorder--tiny and delicate little thing--came to me and complained that the neighbor teen had hurt her. I was washing dishes, dried her eyes, gave her a hug, put a cold cloth on her head, chewed out the teen, and sent her back out to play. The monster had just explained to me that she asked him to swing her around and that she'd hit her head on a wood pile. He was "really sorry and would be more careful". I believed him.
Months later, I sat in court as my little girl's videotaped interviews played. It was the first time I was allowed to hear them. I listened as the detectives asked her if the rapist had ever hurt her. She told them, "Yes". They then asked her if she'd told anyone and she again answered, "Yes, my Mommy". They asked, "What happened next?" She replied, "My Mommy told me it would be OK and he was sorry and to go play". They ended with, "And then what happened?". She floored us all by answering, "I went back out to play but he put his winkie in me again and mashed my head against the wood pile and it hurt".
End of story. I was stupid. But I'm not stupid any more.
